Tiger Appreciation Day
Vanessa finds her boyfriend James practically sleeping on his feet when she arrives at work in the mall.
While the night-shift janitor/guard's intentions are noble, Vanessa convinces him to get some rest.
Then she gets some revenge for yet another spider-related prank -- oh, and it's also International Tiger Day.

It's not really a series, and it didn't feel right to add another chapter.
Vanessa sighed as she pulled into the employee parking lot; James' ancient Corolla was still there. She'd told him to take last night off, but he kept avoiding the words 'I will.' The tigress pulled her own vehicle to a stop in the pre-dawn light. Today's shipment wasn't all that fragile -- some silverware, 70's Bakelite accessories, and clothing -- but Vanessa still babied the van as she parked.
She'd cleared her evening a while back, since today was sort of a holiday. James had actually been the one to bring up 'Tiger Day' and suggest that they go on a date, but Vanessa was the one making it a reality. It wasn't uncommon for the human to be lacking in specific ideas; refusing to give her a straight answer about whether or not he'd be able to do it was.
Vanessa took a deep breath before getting out. James loved her, she didn't doubt that. He just made it difficult to love him back, sometimes. The slight morning breeze reinforced the feeling, her skirt swishing a little in the wind. She wouldn't wear one ordinarily, nor the loose top, but she'd been hoping James would be rested enough for her to go out with him right after work.
Instead he was there at the door as she badged in, just like every other day.
"Good morning, Ms. Corsana," he said, bowing with his usual 'charm'.
"Good morning, James," she replied. She didn't look down at him, flicking her tail across his face. Partway down the corridor her ears pricked.
"Uh, James?" she asked, shifting the boxes in her arms. It took him a moment to respond.
"O-oh! Right! Need any help with those?"
"No," the tigress replied, stopping, "but you can tell me why you're here."
"Because it's my job, V?"
"James, I told you to --"
The tigress stopped mid-sentence. The human was still looking down and away from her. The way he was swaying now became apparent. Vanessa cupped his chin with a sigh, pulling him up to face her; dark circles, just as she'd expected.
"James, why?"
"I gotta work," he shrugged. "You look real pretty."
Vanessa pulled him into a half-hug, holding his head to her chest. If it weren't for the fact he was in trouble, he could've fallen asleep right there.
"You shouldn't be here," the tigress said. "Not just because I asked you to take the night off, either."
The human didn't have the energy for a reply. He just hugged her back, arms around her waist. Ordinarily they waited until getting into Vanessa's store to get touchy-feely, but he certainly wasn't going to complain. He let out a little groan as he rubbed his face in her shirt, and mumbled something into it.
"What was that?" Vanessa asked. She had to pull him back, his head limp in her paw.
"I could really use your chest-pillows..."
The tigress sighed, letting his face drop against her breast for a little longer.
"You're really a pain in the ass, James," she said, kneading his hair. He again remained silent, just standing there against her until she pulled him away. She kept him close as she pulled him along the corridor to her store, his head shifting with the sway of her hips. Vanessa couldn't help but feel a little responsible for his sorry state -- they'd met up the day prior, before his shift and after hers. It was just another in-mall get together, but she'd begun to suspect he was getting up extra-early just to do them.
"Alright, come here," she said as she opened the backdoor to her shop. "Let's get you on the couch."
James didn't complain. He flopped down on the cushions without a word. Not even a snide comment about their 70's baby-puke beige color like usual. Vanessa set her box of antiques down before joining him, scooping him up in her arms. He turned over to his side and sighed, content on top of her.
"Thank you," he muttered, nuzzling into her shirt again. "They really do make nice pillows..."
Vanessa ignored him, stroking his hair.
"Why did you work last night, James?" she asked. "I told you to take the day off!"
"I gotta work," he repeated, his tone getting more drowsy by the second.
"How early did you get up?"
"Mftxq..."
"How early, James?"
"Four," he sighed, turning his face away from her breast for just a moment. Vanessa growled softly, her claws tightening in his hair.
"Why, James?" she asked. "You're only getting a few hours of sleep!"
"I want to see you," he replied, squeezing her arm. Vanessa cooed, squeezing him back.
"That's sweet, honey, but I don't want you exhausting yourself to do it. I see you in the mornings; that's enough."
Another muffled grunt was his only counter argument. Vanessa laid her head back and relaxed. She'd fall asleep too if she wasn't careful. She was content to lay there with him for a while longer. Since James had been more and more tired in the mornings, she'd been getting there earlier and earlier. That way there was at least a chance he'd go get some rest.
James quickly fell asleep, clutching the tigress' arm. Vanessa kept herself awake, occasionally checking the clock as she stroked him. She'd lied earlier; she wanted to see the human more often. Having him in her arms like this was a rare treat, usually only reserved for the weekend. But if it meant her human was exhausted, well, it wasn't really worth it. She sighed, feeling him sink further into her chest.
They'd figure it out.
She slipped out from under him carefully when it got close to opening time. The human still noticed; it's difficult not to notice when your mattress-sized girlfriend pulls away. James didn't open his eyes as groaned, leaning into the tigress' lingering touch.
"I've got work to do, honey," Vanessa whispered, stroking his hair. "You can stay here until you're rested, alright?"
"Mhm..."
She pulled the knit blanket down over him and gave him a kiss. He didn't try to prolong it; she knew for sure he was tired then. The tigress was careful to be quiet as she unpacked her new items for the day. The silverware was what gave her a scare, but she could part it out up at the front desk. Vanessa paused when she flicked the lights on to her actual storefront: there was a small box sitting on the counter. She almost called for James, but settled on a quiet growl. It softened a little when she saw 'Happy Tiger Day' written on the top.
But then she opened it.
Her squeal and subsequent groan couldn't be contained. Her tail lashed as she looked back at the door, claws still poking through the pastry box. Inside said box was a singular, large cookie, decorated with black frosting. Even if the cutesy spider was cutesy and only had two eyes, it was still a spider.
Vanessa glared at James' sleeping form when she returned to the back room, box in hand; the human appeared sound asleep. Her ears flicked as she tucked the cookie away with her lunch. She was sure he'd have laughed his ass off if he was there to see it -- and she was sure she'd make him pay for it. She still would, just later.
His sleepy smile seemed a little too wide to be innocent.
Vanessa's morning was otherwise uneventful, the slow trickle of customers normal for the early hours. A few were regulars, eccentrics and old ladies. They talked shop while browsing merchandise and making potential offers. An older couple asked after her 'boyfriend' -- a hidden spider decoration led to the tigress having to explain his little obsession with scaring her.
"He's doing okay," Vanessa told them. "He's sleeping off in the back, actually."
"Ohh, that poor thing!" the woman said. "Staying up for you again?"
"Something like that."
"I'd say he's a keeper, dear."
Vanessa rolled her eyes. "Some days he is. Others, well..."
The couple laughed, joking that that's how it is. You can't love someone without getting pissed at them. Vanessa knew it was true; every time the store was empty she dipped into the back room. Not to process her unsorted inventory, but for James. Seeing his sleeping face stirred up love and sadness. They'd been getting together for a good 8 months or so now, seeing each other between shifts and going out together on weekends. Having secret rendezvous in the back of her van, just like the first time.
She wanted it to be in a proper bed in a proper building, one that they shared. Passing like ships in the night wouldn't be enough forever.
When lunchtime came, Vanessa again slipped beneath him. James woke as she laid his head on her thick, pillowy thighs, her tail tickling his face. He cuddled it like a security blanket and turned to his side with a groan, shimmying so his face was in the tigress' soft stomach.
"I saw your little gift," Vanessa said, stroking his side. She sighed when he giggled softly. "Thank you, you annoying little prick."
James said something like 'you're welcome' before grabbing at her shirt. The tigress hardly tensed, letting him duck his head beneath her hem to press his face in her fur. It was a feeling they both didn't get enough of. She relaxed, continuing to stroke him as she ate lunch. The spider cookie went untouched.
"James, are you awake?"
The human's response was unintelligible, but positive.
"Why didn't you take the day off? Really?"
His next response was a long, low groan. Vanessa sighed, cupping the back of his head.
"You're huffing my belly fluff, mister," she said, pressing him in gently. "The least you could do is answer a question."
He groaned a little more, but she recognized a defeated huff at the end. He kissed her stomach before pulling away and rolling over to look up at her. She slapped his hand away, squeezing her bust down all on her own.
"I gotta make money," James said.
"I thought you were okay on rent?"
"I -- I am. I gotta *save* money."
The tigress paused. "For what?" she asked.
"Hh hhmn..."
"What, James?"
"A house."
Vanessa stared down at him, trying to determine if the human's sleepy face was serious.
"Or -- a bigger apartment," James yawned, curling back up into her stomach. He complained when she yanked him back into her lap, looking at him with those fierce green eyes.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. We've been at this for like, 9 months now, V," he said. He reached up and put his hand over hers, interlacing fingers. "You always talk about wanting to see me more, so..."
"James..." the tigress cooed, stroking his hair with her free hand. The droop of her ears and whiskers told him all he needed to know.
"Ahh, fuck," he mumbled, trying to turn back into her stomach. "I knew it was -- too soon..."
"No, no, it's not that," Vanessa said. "It's really sweet, James. I just -- just switch to a day shift for me. That's enough. You don't need to save for a house."
He didn't let her pull him away, nuzzling into her stomach.
"I can't," he groaned. "There's no daytime job like this. If I switched, I'd make even less..."
Vanessa sighed in her throat; she hauled him up into her arms after a moment, cradling him close.
"It's okay," she whispered into his hair. "One thing at a time, baby. We'll figure this out."
James mumbled into her chest.
"But the first thing you need to do is get some actual sleep," she said, rocking him gently. "No more getting up at four just to see me an extra time, got it?"
"Mmnf..."
"I said, 'got it?'"
He nodded into her chest, defeated once more. Vanessa huffed, stroking his hair a little before easing him back down onto the couch.
"Good," she said, tucking him back under the blanket. "We'll talk about this later, okay? When you're not half-asleep?"
The human nodded, eyes already shut. Vanessa gave him a kiss -- she wanted him to know she was smiling. James heard her whisper "Love you," before padding away. He drifted off soon after. His sleep was restful and dreamless, only interrupted by the tigress' occasional touch. Each one hardly woke him, the feeling permeating his subconscious. It was just enough for him to smile.
Only when she shook his shoulder and called his name did James wake completely.
"What's up?" he yawned, trying to rub the sleep from his eyes. Vanessa was crouched down beside him, stroking his cheek.
"It's closing time," she said, "we've gotta get out of here soon. Did you have a good nap?"
"Mhm..."
"Are you awake enough to drive?"
"Yeah, yeah, sure..." James lied, waving her off. The heavy *thump* of her mounting his chest put that right. The tigress' striped thighs closed around his face, her skirt tickling his nose before she drew it aside.
"How about now?" she asked, smiling. It grew wider when his hands slid over her thighs, sinking in as he drew them apart by a hair.
"Yeah --" he managed.
"Good," she said, pressing against his hands. "Now, I called the boss. You're taking tonight off."
When he started to protest, the tigress closed her thighs with a chiding noise.
"You've barely had any sleep, and your schedule is way out of whack!" she said, easing up enough for his face to poke through. "They agreed that you're taking the day off, and that's final. You got anything to say down there?"
James groaned, digging his fingers into her thighs to pry out a bit more room before speaking. "That's not why -- you're on me like this, is it?"
Vanessa purred, stroking his hair and pulling his face closer to her heat.
"A little," she said. "There was also the cookie..."
Deep in her fur, James laughed. The tigress growled and shimmied up the rest of the way, pressing him against her lower lips.
"It's almost like you do this on purpose," she sighed, shifting idly atop him. Despite her grumbly growl, she chuffed when he slapped her ass. It turned into a groan when he started nuzzling in.
"Give me a good Tiger-Day gift, and then -- we can go out for dinner," the tigress said. "I'll -- cover it, don't worry..."
James squeezed her butt hard, letting her grind herself firmly into place. Vanessa hummed as he tested her hold. Even if her bulk was immobilizing, he could still move his head a little between her thighs. She had to allow it if she wanted his tongue. But that didn't mean her paw was leaving the back of his head.
After a few musk-filled breaths, James dove into her heat. The tigress stifled a groan as his nose slipped into her folds; her paw held him firm and her legs tried squeezing him deeper. She jumped as he explored her depths, blindly trying to find her favorite spot. The leisurely circles he was rubbing into her butt made her suspect he wasn't as lost as he appeared.
"You better not be teasing me," she sighed, gripping his head tight and beginning to bounce. "That's what -- got you here in the first place..."
Vanessa chirped when his tongue darted and flicked over her depths. Then she growled, though it had a bright tenor. The tigress pressed him in harder, making sure he couldn't escape her needy bounces. The gentle circles on her ass were replaced with cheek grabs -- at least, as much of them as James could hold. He jiggled her rear in time with her bouncing and grinding. Vanessa growled, working her hips harder; how the hell wasn't he panicking? He had a half-ton of tiger on top of him, and he was still teasing her!
Then she felt him stiffen, his legs locking around her drifting tail for a second. An evil grin crossed the tigress' face.
"Get to the good part, baby" she said, brushing her tail over his groin, "or I'll do even worse. I still have one free hand..."
Now Vanessa was the one to stiffen as his tongue darted out again. The way it wriggled in her sodden folds was certainly desperate now. The tigress still reached back and undid his pants, letting his straining boxers burst free. Only ears as sharp as hers could hear the human's muffled grunt beneath her, though his search didn't cease.
"It's right -- there, James!" the tigress said, adjusting him with a firm hand. She relaxed with a sigh, letting her head fall back. Her thighs were enough to lock him in place now. A few minutes of his tongue, and some slow rocking of her hips would be all she needed to --
The resounding smack of hands on ass tore Vanessa from her bliss. She groaned as it continued; his tongue was replaced by stifled coughs and splutters. The tigress pulled back just enough to feel his desperate gasp, allowing a handful before she dropped back down. His hands flailed once more, but the tigress pinned them to her thick cheeks. She rolled her hips hard on his face, dragging his features along her slit relentlessly. If she wasn't going to have the nice, slow finish she'd wanted, she'd be getting one quick one.
And that meant getting rough.
James understood that very, very well. He braced his feet and nuzzled back against her, getting as much meager leverage as he could. Vanessa's groan shook the nearby plates when he shot his tongue out again. There wasn't time to savor the slickness of her folds or the sensually suffocating heat. All the human could appreciate while he searched her depths was her taste. He liked it, but that's probably because every time he had it, his own orgasm wasn't far away.
Vanessa's came with a roar and a flood. James dug his fingers into her fur as her excitement coated everything, her legs working in tandem with her inner walls. He pulled his tongue back against them just to feel her shudder. Their gasps mingled when she finally drew her legs apart, running a paw deep through his hair as she looked down at him over a heaving chest. Their stare was breathless, wordless. But they both saw exactly what they wanted.
"If -- we get a place together --" James gasped, "you'd get that -- more often --"
"Fair point," Vanessa huffed. She got off him for just a moment, laying on top of him with a sigh. "But then you'd need to switch to day-shift."
The human groaned beneath her, hugging her back as she licked his face. She kissed his cheek when she finished, whispering in his ear: "Just think, you could wake up between my thighs every day!"
"...Something more gentle would be nice."
Vanessa laughed and gave him another kiss.
Hopefully, she'd change his mind.
