This is yet another dark story, but its ending is much happier.

After returning to his first home, at some point, Mark saw an anthropomorphic mouse who was in poverty. She was a homeless mouse who looked to be in her mid-20s, or possibly not too much older. She was not malnourished, but she did look skinny. Mark walked up to the mouse, curious about why she was there.

"Hi, what are you doing here? You'll probably have the sun's rays leave a burn."

"I don't care. It's not like I can change what already happened."

"No, but you can try to find a way to begin improving."

"What the heck would you know?"

"My name is Mark Krieg, so what does that mean to you?"

"Kid, you wish you were him. If I knew him when I saw his face- (Her eyes blinks as she recognizes the man's face.) Wait, he has brown hair and eyes like that."

"I don't kid about my history." (He presents his I.D. towards her.)

"Oh, my God! It is you!"

"So, tell me; what's your name?"

"Everybody calls me Rat , but my name is Pat."

"You seem like a cute mouse."

"Thank you; at least someone notices that I am not a rat."

"Tell me more; why do civilians call you Rat?"

"I was part of a gang of rodent-like people who stole through day and night. Originally, they wanted to employ me, but I left at some point."

"That explains the bag of food and anything else you would need."

"Yeah, but the authorities have been on my tail! The others are currently in jail, and my history is really bad."

"Pat, I'm afraid you'll be arrested at some point."

"Mark, please don't tell them where I have been!"

"Pardon the pun, but I'll probably rat you out."

"What?!"

"I would bail you out, under one condition..."

"What the hell would that be?"

"If I bail you out, you can live with me, as long as you were to move on from the gang."

"You're nuts! If I got caught, the others will just sodomize me if you can't bail me out."

"I have friends in the police department, and it won't take too long, I swear."

"Fine, do what you think is the right thing. I have no home or job, so it's only suicide that I would have left. (She shows Mark the knife and tries to claim her own life. Mark grabs her wrist and chokes it, forcing Pat's fingers to release her suicide weapon.) "Ow! Why did you stop me?"

"Pat, suicide is not your answer." (Mark gets the knife that fell on the ground.)

"Ugh, I would have preferred suicide!"

"I'll make sure that you do not commit suicide."

"I don't think anything can get better by now."

"That's why I'm here to help." (He gently caresses her brown hair. Pat's expression changes as she gives him a hug.)

"Really?"

"You can be much happier. Please, trust me if you can." (He gives a kiss on the lips to her.)

One Day Later...

Pat looked intensely at Raio, one of the police department's strongest officers. "You must be that rodent a few prisoners spoke of," he said. Pat nodded and looked with resentment at the saber-tooth tiger who groaned. Raio presented her knife he got with Mark's help. "Is it true that this is yours," he asked, carefully tilting the knife at a few various angles. "Yes, sir," Pat nervously answered to the police officer. Raio knew she was not trustworthy, but it seemed like she won't lie about everything. "I see. I need to know if you have tried to commit suicide," he said. "Sometimes, but no tries have been successful," Pat said. Raio glared intensely at her, curious about what Mark learned from Pat. "Mark, how long have you known her, before you turned her in yesterday," he asked. "That same day," Mark answered quietly. Raio analyzed Pat's facial expressions, deciphering what could be on her mind. "This isn't your first time arrested, if I've guessed right," he said. Pat put her hands in front of her wrists, preparing to be handcuffed by him. "Just put me in jail, unless a bail is possible," she said with each click of the cuffs.

Raio could feel Pat's uncomfortable response to the strict look from him. "According to leads, you're among the last of the gang," he asked. Pat gulped and nodded nervously, secretly hoping that she would die soon. "Yes, sir. I don't think anybody else is out there. Even my leader, Ratbern, is probably behind bars now," she said, picturing the wedding ring that she got from him. Raio took note of her goldenrod ring she wore. "Where did you get that ring," he asked, curious about how she got it. "Ratbern, the wealthist of us back then, got this same ring for me. I miss him, but I know Justice would have been punishing him for illegal actions," Pat said. Raio's gaze was softening up when he heard the mouse say that. "I remember my first marriage I had," he thought, remembering a night when he was sleeping with Elliot. "Were you his wife," he asked. "Yes, I was his best friend. He did not send me out there to steal for the gang, because he valued the moments we shared," Pat said as her eyes then teared up.

Mark felt sorrier for the rodent, but knew that Ratbern would be deserving jail time. "Pat, you should move on from him," he said. Pat glared at Mark, disapproving of his suggested idea. "I can't! He'll hate me for life if I would leave his side," she said, continuing to cry. Mark sighed as he hugged her in his arms. "It's that cold jail cell, or a new life to live," he quietly whispered to her soft ears. Raio looked with interest at Mark. "Mark, how would you change her life," he asked. "I would bail her out," Mark calmly responded. Raio looked disgusted towards his younger brother. "Mark, she's a criminal who's been part of Ratbern's gang," he said. Mark casually shook his head from side to side. "I think she can change her ways," he said. Raio angrily looked at the mouse. "Very well. If you can pay a million to bail her out, I will not take this to court," he said. Pat's eyes widened as she anxiously looked at Mark. "Forget it, Mark! I can't be worth a full million," she yelled.

Mark groaned as he tried motioning Raio to privately discuss with him. "I'll pay you the million dollars. Until then, keep her as a detainee," he said through his telepathy. Raio, who luckily got the word, nodded in agreement. "Pat, you will have to stay with me for now," he said. Pat, who still sat at the chair, rolled her eyes and groaned. "I may as well get used to that jail cell," she said. Raio's expression seemed far more optimistic than it had been at first. "Sure, think like that," he teased. Mark, who served as a witness, exited the room, now that he did his part.

One Week Later...

Mark walked in the police department, presenting the money to bail Pat. Raia understood why he was here, not just for a talk with his older-aged sister. "I heard you told the authorities about a criminal who you apparently found on the streets," she said. Mark nodded as Raia flirtatiously smiled at her friend. "Yes, ma'am; that's right," he said. Raia presented a calm look on her face she had for him. "Please, call me Raia whenever you want. I won't mind," she said with a wink. Mark blushed as Raia playfully tugged on part of her police uniform. "This feels so tight, but I bet you can see my nipples erecting," she teased when Mark saw her erecting bulges. "Sis, not now, please," he said. Raia awkwardly looked as both of her eyes blinked. "My apologies, Mark. I'm just excited to see you again," she said. Mark, being a heroic man within the Kriegs' history, could understand why his big sister felt this way. "Thank you. I'm glad you appreciate my time with you," he said, carefully kissing her on the lips.

Raia looked hornier as her lips would meet his. "I work all morning, but I will otherwise be off," she said with a loving expression to him. Mark handed the money to Raia, who could see his authentication signature on the bill. "I wish you the best of luck near that mouse," she said. Pat looked from her cell to find Mark there, in addition to Raia as well. "Pat, you are good to go now," he said. Pat watched Raia unlocking her cell, much to her astonishment right now. "How in the world-," she asked. Raia smiled as Mark and Pat began to kiss. "She looks a lot happier with Mark," Raia thought. When their kiss stopped, Mark turned to face Raia, this time with a more excited look he had on his face. "It was great to see you here," he said. Raia smiled and waved farewell to both of them. "I feel the same for you, Mark," she said. When the human/rodent pair exited the office, they felt a warm breeze in the air. "Mark, I promise to have my loyalty in your name," she said.

With a kiss to his cheek, Mark took his "friend" out of the police department. "Thanks, Raia. Make sure the deposit works," he said. After a month of improving his new friend's life," Mark saw Pat lay down comfortably on the bed. "You were right: I feel like I've moved on from my old ways," she said, remembering when she first met him. Mark smiled at the anthropomorphic rodent, who seemed happier in his basement than out there on the streets, living in poverty. "If that suicide attempt went through, where would the new life have been," he asked. Pat knew the answer; damnation for each last sin. "Hell, given how I was an atheist at the time," she said. Mark playfully rubbed the mouse's head, showing some affection. "I think converting you to a Christian has helped, too, along with therapy," he said. Pat smiled as the previously unlikely pair started to hug one another. "I owe my new life to you," she said. Ginger, who disagreed with Mark's choice, understood that he has seen good in some people. "Lord, has Mark done the right thing? I wish to have him and his friends blessed," she prayed.
