Chapter 1 - The boy who fell through time

The only things I remember before the fall were two things, first, a sound, like a snorting noise that made death and the second, was an impact, like when you suffer from a car accident and everything spins in your head.

Well, I used to have an absolutely normal life in a small town abroad. I had my work as a waiter in a busy restaurant near the sea and had to run for my life, busy enough to pay my bills and the rent.

I was just a normal yet a lonely person, for a single gay man I never had a boyfriend, although I had some traumatic experiences that ended up bad, so I decided not to search for someone, if it happens it happens.

I always felt like I don't fit in society rules or paradigms, I always wanted to buy a site in the woods and move out, to find peace and solitude. As an Introvert person I found difficulty in understanding people's mind.

It was a Saturday night when I finished my shift at work and I went home early. My friends from work had invited me to go out to a party, but I had no motivation for it.

On my way home I walked through a lane that I wouldn't usually take. A walking path between the woods near my cubicle flat in the middle of a concrete jungle.

I passed under a sycamore tree, the clock reached midnight and at that moment I felt something strange, a strange yet familiar sensation.

• What the hell, I think I passed this way already, I must be tired.

Then, I continued to walk again until I crossed the same path again.

• Am I drunk or drugged? I'm sure I've passed through here already.

But at that point when it happened, first of all I noticed a red sky and red moon, when I looked at the moon it had an eclipse, a blood moon eclipse. my stomach felt weird and I felt sick. the world turned all around me.

When I woke up I was in the middle of the woods, and I was cold, very cold. with some difficulty I managed to stand, I was in front of a tree, a big huge tree. when I looked around I was in the middle of a kind of square.

The square was paved with small stone bricks, the square was circular in shape and around it a canal ran crystal clear water that circulated around the square.

I was still a little dizzy, but I managed to notice that I was on top of a hill, when I approached the edges, there was a city around me, it was huge, the houses were made of wood and stone, it looked like a large medieval Nordic village.

The view from the top was beautiful, as I could see that the city was surrounded by wide walls that surrounded it and in the distance, I could see misty mountains with peaks so high that I could not see their peaks.

The snow was falling slowly and I began to shiver with cold. I then saw a staircase that led to the city and followed it. When I reached the base of the grand staircase I was in another square, it was like a market, stalls and tents stretched along the streets and took different paths.

It was only when I was walking down the street that I noticed something unusual, they were staring at me, the people, I mean, they weren't people, or not entirely, they were humanoids, wearing typical furry clothes and scarves and such. They had animalistic faces, furry tails and ears. Somehow they had a human countenance, and humanoid faces.

I can't say they were scary, as the initial shock was somewhat of a shock, however, they weren't grotesque or horrific, just different from what we consider to be normal or human.

they were all staring at me, as if I were the only and entire human they had ever seen in their lives, some scared, others curious, some of them had goat legs, human faces, but with animal ears and horns, like fauns, others, in turn, had the appearance of feline faces, but with almost perfectly human faces, with the exception of the ears and noses, oh and obviously the tail.

They were all over the place and staring at me. Did they speak my language? How should I act? Because if they were staring at me like that and whispering to each other, something wasn't right.

I didn't know what to do, so I started walking slowly, that's when I got into the crowd, some of them hadn't noticed me and that was the case when I bumped into a large, burly being, and I fell to the ground with the thud and the force of the creature almost three times bigger and stronger than me.

• What is that?

He spoke my language, I could communicate with them, but I was still terrified and could not utter a word. When he turned to me and looked down at me, he looked like a human, but he was a bear, red-haired, but his countenance was clearly that of a man, he was wearing a cloak and he was huge.

His eyes were brown, he had paws, but they were shaped like fingers when I looked at them. Oddly enough, I wasn't afraid of him when he looked at me, with a scared and confused look.

• Little one let me help you.

When he reached out his hand to help me, I reached out in return and he helped me, then he looked me straight in the eyes, but when he realized I was human, he looked confused.

• But what…..is Human?

It was then that from the middle of the crowd some of them came, soldiers, carrying spears and swords, and wearing armor, they then saw me and one of them with the face of a rhinoceros, but was humanoid and walked on two legs, shouted.

• Hey, you there, standing still!

I still can't explain what happened to me at that moment, whether it was the fear of being devoured, or a pure survival instinct, but whatever it was saved me at that moment, because I felt the adrenaline boiling in my veins, so I started to run.

The guards shouted for me to stop immediately and everywhere I ran, they were chasing me, between alleys and streets, rooftops and lanes I ran and hid, but they always managed to catch me.

From afar I heard a trumpet howl and a warning bell ring, the tumult was forming in the streets and what they were saying was clear.

“Human spotted, Human spotted, detain him, by order of the chief"

• Damn, what's going on?

I needed to hide, so I slipped into the middle of the market tents and I managed to steal a black cape, a hooded cloak that was in one of the shops, luckily or fate I managed to get it without being seen so I put it on and walked down the street trying not to attract the attention of the guards, who at that moment were looking for me.

• Hey there you hooded one.

I froze as the guard stopped in front of me, the rhino huge and mean looking.

• Have you seen a human pass by here?

I stuttered a little as I was terrified of his presence.

• No, sir, I didn't.

If you see it, you must hand it over immediately, on the master's orders.

• Yes, sir, understood.

When I turned my back and continued on my way, I saw the large stone wall and wooden gates.

• I think it might be the exit from the city, I need to get there.

• Wait one moment.

The guard said, "Your scent." Then he pulled my hood, brandished his spear and ran away before he could catch me. The chase took place in the city once more. That's when something grabbed me and pulled me into a door. I tried to struggle, but his huge hand covered my mouth and then he made a sound and spoke to me.

• Shhh, be quiet if you don't want to die or they'll find us.

I then stopped struggling, considering that it would be useless, the creature had its arms around my body, and I felt its massive and enormous body behind me, its strong arms were holding me, but they were not hurting me, just containing me.

Then he said again:

• I'll let you go, but if you scream or run they'll find you, I'll show you a place to hide, do you understand me?

I nodded my head and he was still hugging me and covering my mouth with his hand.

Then he let go of me, when I turned around, it was the red bear from before, he was also wearing a hood. He then stared at me fixedly, then for that brief moment, there was not even a sound, just the breath inhaling and exhaling from our bodies.

He opened a trapdoor in the floor.

When I realized it, the sound of the guards outside was louder, so they knocked on the door of the little house. I jumped inside the trapdoor and the bear closed it and threw a pile of straw on top. The door opened with a bang.

• Hey bear, are there any humans hiding around here?

Then the bear spoke, his voice was deep and thick, but it was calm.

• There are no humans here.

• We will investigate.

• Feel free to do so, if you find a human here, you can take him.

The guards broke pots and pans, turned over tables and rugs, even got close to where the straw hid my hiding place, but then a silence and then followed.

The door then closed behind us and a silence followed, then he opened the trapdoor and held out his hand to me.

I still couldn't speak, but I held out my hand and he helped me out of that hole. We were in a small stone house, with a crackling fireplace in the middle, a small table turned over and a ladder, it was very small, but it was cozy.

I shook my head. He then moved the table away and began to gather up what the guards had dropped.

• Come on, sit down.

I walked slowly to the chair and sat down, still staring at the huge bear in front of me.

• Are you hungry?

I hadn't stopped to notice before, but I was hungry as a lion. I nodded my head.

He then got up and went to a closet and started looking for something, when he turned around he had something in his hand, I was startled, but he held out his hand.

• I won't hurt you, it's bread, you know what it is?

I nodded my head positively, then he handed me the bread, I took it and started eating as if I hadn't eaten in a long time.

• You understand what I'm saying, right?

I nodded my head at that moment, which was draining from my body, but I was still chewing.

• Can you speak my language?

So I tried to speak, but my voice wouldn't come out, so I choked on the bread, and he helped me and brought me a cup of water.

After taking a generous sip, I noticed that my mouth was as dry as the sands of a desert.

He then jumped as if he was discovering the world.

For a brief moment I had forgotten my own name. Then he said it again.

• I saved you because when I bumped into you in that square, you were scared, confused, you didn't seem dangerous to me. If the guards caught you and took you to the master's palace, then yes you should have been afraid, being so small, so fragile, like a rabbit, I felt like protecting you.

I then felt a tension in the room, almost like excitement, so I stood up and he raised his head to look at me.

• If you don't mind, I'd like to rest for a while, if that's okay.

I climbed the wooden stairs and was on the second floor, could I trust a Beast Man? Wouldn't he be handing me over to the enemies? I entered the room he told me about and closed the doors, there was no lock, but I found a chair which I used as a barrier for the door, the room had no windows except for a crack for the light of the sky to enter.

There was a small wooden bed, with furs lining the straw, I was so exhausted that the very moment I rested my body on the bed, I passed out almost instantly.

Chapter 2 - A New Life

The next morning, I woke up in fright, because there was knocking on the door of the house again; I woke up and jumped out of bed. I ran towards the door of my room and froze, there were guards downstairs and I heard voices.

• Come on, Bear, we've come to search your house, he has to be in this city, the gates are locked, someone must be hiding him.

• And why do you think I'm hiding a human in my house?

• And why wouldn't it be? Now let's let ourselves in.

• Not without an order from the master, the last time they came here they broke into my house and took my food.

• It wasn't, I worked to earn it.

Then he guided me through a canal that led down to a sewer, until we reached an opening and climbed up. I was disconcerted when, upon leaving the sewer, he lifted me up like a doll to help me get out of the sewer, but he was kind.

When he helped me, there were guards everywhere, walking up and down, when we went up a staircase we were close to the square and the big tree.

At this moment, I hugged the big bear, even though I was only a third of his size, I could feel his warm body and his muscles were defined, he was huge.

When we let go of each other, I felt like his hand didn't want to let go of mine. Something had awakened inside me. I didn't want to be separated from him either. Even though I barely knew him and the whole world was strange, he had been kind and cordial. He saved my life. Until then, my life had been peaceful and sad. I didn't have the energy to go out with my friends or to go to parties. I didn't have a boyfriend because I thought no one would be interested in me. And all my life experiences had been traumatic.

I then hid while he called the attention of the guards, as soon as they all ran after him, I ran to the tree, the same one I should have passed by. But when I touched it, nothing happened.

I walked around the tree and touched it, but nothing had changed, I was still in the cold square and the snow was falling lightly from the sky. Before I could react, something attacked me from behind, an excruciating pain took over me and before I knew it I was on the ground groaning in pain, and there was blood all around me.

When I staggered and looked around he was there, he looked like a gray wolf, but he was a man, he had a tail and claws, then he said and his growling voice came out.

He then advanced on me again, but this time he didn't hit me, because something much bigger than him stopped him. It was a brown bear, two meters tall, it was Kamui.

With a thud, he stopped the wolf from reaching me, and the two engaged in a violent fight, but Kamui was much larger than the wolf and threw him against a stone wall, which collapsed on top of the wolf. Then he came to my rescue.

• Lawjayden, are you okay?

• Kamui.

Then my vision became blurred and I could no longer distinguish what I could see or what was clear or blurry, but I felt when Kamui picked me up in his arms and ran away.

My vision was recalled again, and we were in a kind of attic. I was lying on a straw bed, Kamui was beside me, and beside him was a monkey man.

Then the bear came towards me and knelt down beside me.

I tried to get up, but I couldn't, the pain was tremendous in my back, but I was shirtless and bandaged.

Then with some difficulty I managed to get up, we thanked Donka for his help, I noticed a strong bond of friendship between him and the bear, they hugged each other when they said goodbye, and when it was my turn, I felt that the monkey man seemed to be afraid of me, but I hugged him without measuring my actions, he returned the hug and whispered in my ears.

We then left through a canal that led to a stream, where once again the sewer was the path for our exit. When we left, we walked downhill until we reached a farm that surrounded the city walls, from there, Kamui asked me to put on my hood, he also put on his. So at the farm, I waited outside while he went into the house, coming out a few minutes later a rabbit man, gives us two horses, one of which Kamui tied our provisions, and bags, then we continued on the road away from the city. Towards the mountains.

Chapter 3 - First time.

Our journey continued along the road, passing through fields, rivers and valleys, heading towards the mountains to the north. The rain caught us off guard several times, Kamui insisted that I mount one of the horses while he pulled us along.

• Don't underestimate me, I'm fine, I can walk.

• Doesn't your back hurt?

But in reality they were burning like embers.

Many times we would leave the roads and stop at some edge of the woods and forests to eat and camp. Kanui was suffering from his injuries too, but he never complained. I needed to be strong too. One night we would talk by the campfire.

• For a safe place, I know a place around Mount Colossus, a cabin, it should be safe, we can stay there for a while, as winter is coming and we need shelter before the heavy snowfalls arrive and all the rivers, lakes and fjords are frozen.

So I did as he said and by dawn the next day we had reached a base on the slopes of the mountain. I could hear a river approaching and a strong current, then we crossed a stone bridge and on the other side, a small group of houses, was a village. Whose view over the entire valley was simply stunning? Then I jumped off the horse.

• Kamui, is a village.

• Yes, Ivarswinter. It was abandoned and forgotten a long time ago, it's off the beaten track so we should be safe here.

• What a beautiful view.

The village had no more than five or six small stone and wooden houses, very Nordic. We walked along the main road of the village until we reached the last house, a little further away from the others, with a vast field of land, a small mill, it was a small farm.

• Kamui, we can stay here.

The wooden front door was chained shut, but Kamui with his strength destroyed it. The chain was rusty. When we entered, the L-shaped house was small but cozy. In one corner, there was a fireplace, a wooden table, chairs, and a large bed with straw and furs. Overall, the house was furnished and only needed some care.

• It's beautiful.

• Yes, it needs care, but it is intact.

• And it will last through the winter.

I pointed to a large structure, it looked like a wooden basin, but it was quite large.

• It's a bathtub, we can heat water and bathe in it.

• It's been so long since I took a shower, I'm going to clean the fireplace and heat some water.

• Just in case, don't leave here, I'll take a look around and at the other houses, there might be something we can use.

While he was scouting the area, I picked up some firewood that was there and lit the fireplace, as Kamui had taught me, the river was on the outskirts of the city and had a strong current, but behind a water mill, on the other side of the road, there was a calmer spot, like a pool that was forming, there the water was calmer.

So I filled the buckets and put them in the oven to heat, while I swept the whole house and cleaned it as best I could. The animals, there was a small barn at the back of the farm, I left the horses there, and to my surprise, I had found chickens, alive and running around inside the barn, there were at least ten of them, they must have reproduced during that time.

• Kamui, Kamui

He came running to meet me, pulling a cart by a rope, with a cow, a goat and in the cart there were bags.

• Look what I found, animals and seeds, grains and potatoes, we can plant here.

• And I found chickens back there.

We were so happy that I ran towards him and hugged him. He held me, he was a little embarrassed, but then I was too, feeling his huge bear-like body.

• That's fantastic, but is this village really deserted?

• It seems so, I found a couple of skeletons, in what used to be the inn.

• Oh no, is it safe then?

• I think they were eaten by wolves, or a mountain tiger probably, but don't worry, if something turns up, I'll take care of it. I didn't find any animal tracks or wild man here. So I guess we can stay, this wasn't quite the place I had in mind, but you like this place, don't you? And we need shelter for the winter.

• Yes, how are you?

• Yes, if you can organize our provisions, I'll take another look around the area, if anything happens, call me, I won't go far, I just want to make sure we're alone.

While he was gone I organized the animals and our provisions, using potatoes, carrots and rice that we had found, I made a stew. While Kamui was away I decided to test the water in the bath, as it was warm and delicious, so I took off my clothes and got into the bath. The water was wonderful, I took off the bandages from my back, the wound hardly hurt, it must have almost healed.

I let myself be carried away by the comfort of the bath and then Kamui returned, when he opened the door and came in with more firewood I was startled, he was too, so he dropped the firewood.

• Kamui.

• It's okay, I just.

• Sorry, I didn't see you coming. I'm going out, I made a vegetable stew.

• It smells great.

• I just need to get out of the water.

When I got out of the water, naked, still embarrassed, I walked over and grabbed a towel and wrapped it around my body, he was standing there looking at me, but he lowered his head.

• I was thinking, if you want to take a bath before eating, so you feel better, if you want after we eat I can take a look at your wounds, make a compress to ease the pain.

• Yes.

He was embarrassed and so was I, but the way his hazel eyes looked at me, I had to be crazy, but no one had ever looked at me like that before.

• Oh I'm sorry; I'm… going to take a shower, if you don't mind.

So I put on my clothes and while I was doing this I saw, as he took his off, he was massive, and every curve of his body was well defined. How human he looked his legs, thighs big and thick, he was facing away from me, but his back was broad and strong, his shoulder was wide and his muscles were big and well defined. I thought to myself, my God, I'm looking at a man, but at the same time, it wasn't a man, but it was.

Then he got into the water and let out a groan of relief, which made me more tense and nervous.

I went to check the cauldron, our food was ready, and I felt him looking at me, even though my back was turned.

• Kamui, come eat.

• Oh, yes.

And I was looking at him, as he stood up and the water ran down his body, his chest, his massive figure was mesmerizing, a mysterious awe.

• Oh.

I looked away.

• Oh, I'm sorry, I'm..going to change.

• Yes.

Then he came closer, his clothes were lighter, his arms were exposed.

• It smells great.

• I hope you like it.

• Thanks.

So we ate and the blizzard outside had started to blow hard and mercilessly.
