'When a lonely young male fox rescues another one from her father, things begin to change for him.'

Hello everyone! This is my first short story that I've made after my break! And it's actually a gift story for my friend on here, thefluffyfox. See, she's a roleplayer and the idea for this story came to me when we did a roleplay together. Now mind you, I don't do roleplay for a living, I was just giving it a try with my friend via PM. And I'm glad I did do that with her, she really gave me that idea! :)

She's really a nice girl, and so I've made this short story, because she's one of my friends. I think she'll love this one, and thefluffyfox, if you read this, hope you enjoy it! And also for everyone who sees this story, hope you enjoy it too!

Ok, here's my trademark warning. If you're under the legal age and don't like reading the kind of content I've put in this story, hit the back button! Otherwise, enjoy the story! ^.^

A young male red fox named Shane, is dragging a dead raccoon with his jaws to the dead critter's neck. He was a tough young fox, with his fur being basked by the sun's rays through the canopy of the trees. He grunted when he gave it another pull along the dirt. He tried his very best to use his strength to drag his lunch all the way back to his home. He wasn't going to leave his hunted prey alone in the woods and let everything else have it. This thing's his! And he's going to keep it!

Shane laid his ears back and let out a grr, when he yanked again. The raccoon's body was being dragged as a puff of dirt was left behind by the sharp drag. Shane was backing away with his paws, his teeth still clamped on his food and dragged it again. He was wheezing a bit, feeling tired, but from what he can tell with his eyes rolling around, trailing the area around him, he knows he's not far away from home now. He's almost there. He was forming a smile on his face and hummed in satisfaction. At the idea that he's having raccoon for dinner again! He feels his stomach rumbling and it snapped him out of his thoughts. He put on a determined look now and pulled roughly.

There was no time for day dreaming. Now was time to make that day dream come true!

He was groaning with his mouth closed around it as he was pulling it a lot more harder, and he was breathing heavily through his nose. He dropped the creature from his mouth and it hit the ground with a thump. The handsome young fox looked over his shoulder and can see his home, about a few feet away from him.

His home is not really a typical type of home that foxes live in. It's not a den in the forest, but it's actually an old horse stable. From what he'd figured, there were some humans who used to have a farm out here, but there was no farmhouse nearby. His guess was, the house was burned to the ground since no one was living there anymore. But the humans didn't burn down the stable, they just left the place alone. From what Shane can see when he goes inside, the whole place is old and is gathering dust and cobwebs. But not every spot in the barn is like that, he found plenty of spots to sleep at in there. When Shane found it, he figured it was a perfect place to live in. Better than living in a den, at least! As long as he started to live in it, there hasn't been any problems. He loves it here.

Shane took a deep breath, catching his breath and letting his heart beat slowed down a bit. Just taking a one minute break from dragging. It takes a lot of darn work to drag something that's big! He would've hunted for a mouse in the barn, but he wanted something bigger. So that's when he decided to hunt in the woods and killed himself a raccoon! He let out a breath, knowing that break time's over. He lowered his face to the raccoon's neck, grabbed it with his jaws and began to drag it in the stable through the entrance. He grunted and grunted, until when he sees he's inside, he let it go.

He let out a slow, whoosh of air and muttered to himself with a smug pose, licking his lips, "Alright, about time!"

And with that, he laid down on his belly and began to tear in his food and began to eat it.

*****

Shane's human owner Martha, looked down lovingly at him with a bright smile that always makes him happy. They were both in the kitchen in Martha's house, while she was cooking something to eat on the stove. Shane was padding to see her, grinning when he looked up at her, and sat down on his butt when he was close to his human friend, his tail laid back straight behind him along the kitchen floor. Martha turned around from the stove and crouched down to greet her pet. She was an middle aged woman, with long flowing blonde hair and has green eyes. She was slightly overweight, but not real fat. Martha was reaching out her hand to start petting the top of her fox's head. He leaned into her touch when she was scratching behind his ear. He was loving it and his hind leg was twitching. Martha was giggling at this and stopped. Shane drew back his head and gazed confusingly at her. Wondering why she'd stop.

Martha was staring at him, her smile never left her face. She said the words that always warmed his heart, "I love you."

Shane perked his ears and smiled brightly at her. He got on all fours, walked up and started to nuzzle her chest with his face. Martha was stroking his back all the way to his tail and was doing it repeatedly. He was basking into this. Not wanting it to end. Even though she can't understand him, he said right back, "I love you too."

Shane moaned and opened his eyes. They still looked sleepy when he opened them and groggily blinked them. He had a happy look on his face and jerked his head up with his ears perked straight up, "Martha!" But when he looked around, he saw that he's not in Martha's house, but he's in the stable laying in the same spot like he always does. He just remembered he was sleeping here and what he saw was just a dream. More than a dream to him, it was a memory. A memory of his past.

He laid his ears back and hung his head in sadness. The memory of his past life. The life he doesn't have anymore. Now he's living his new life....Without Martha.

It's been....Four years since she had to leave him out here alone, to live in the wild. And after she did, he never saw her again. He can never forget that day she was gone from his life and had to live out his new life in the wild. He can never forget seeing her drive away in her car and leave him alone. While he wanted to say goodbye to her one more time and tried to chase her down. But the car was too fast for him and he never got that chance. He looked up and saw out through the window to see the stars twinkling. He can recall the time he and Martha were outside almost every night to watch the stars twinkle. He can remember more than once when he was a kit, he curled up on her lap and stargazed with the one and only human friend he ever had. No, she was more than that, she was like a mother to him.

He let out a sigh. Living out in the wild without her is lonesome sometimes. He feels like he wants to go back home and find her. But he knows that....He can't. He can't go back.

And for four years...He's been living out here alone without any company.

He can remember how hard it was to live out here on the first day, but as days went by, his hunting skills have improved and he feels like a normal fox now. Like an animal he is.

Another thought came to mind. Even after all the years of hunting and prowling around in the wooded area, he never found any other foxes out here. Makes him think, he's the only fox in the world! But he knows that's ridiculous and there are other foxes out in the world. He just hasn't met another one yet. He does wish he has found another one to talk to. So he wouldn't feel lonely in the stable, almost every night. So he would have company for the first time since Martha.

But Shane also thinks that it's best, he doesn't meet another fox. He was cared for by Martha for years, before he was fully grown. He never ventured out in the woods and socialize with his kind. He...Feels like an outcast, because he lived with a human and has been feeling that for a long time. He just thinks it's a good idea to not bother with any other foxes...Unless they are friendly and they would accept what his past life was like.

Oh, he wishes it was that simple to calm his mind about this kind of thing. He's feeling nervous just thinking about it. He closed his eyes and shook his head. Trying to get the thought out of his mind. Best not to get worked up about it. He just wants to go back to sleep and let his dreams take him away from this lonely world. Back to the memories he always has. Back to the life he loved back then. Back to...Martha.

Shane opened his eyes and shed a tear and fell to the floor. He loves her....And he misses her. He'll never forget that lovable human. He'll never forget her, NEVER.

He curled himself around on the floor. His fluffy tail almost touching his nose and blinked his eyes a few times, before he closed them. Drifting himself back to sleep.

*****

The late morning came and the bright sunlight shined through the trees, just like any other summer day. Shane was padding on a trail on his usual walk, humming to himself. When he woke up this morning, his thoughts were on Martha just like every other morning here. But as the day goes by, he tends to forget about her. Since the activity helps him forget. He jumped over a hollow log and landed on the other side on all fours with a thump. He shot up his head and smugly grinned back at the hollow thing, "Ha! No match for this fox!" He was chuckling to himself and walked off away from it.

His eyes peered up at the trees, seeing a few birds on their nests, feeding their young. He stopped and watched from a distance from below, seeing the momma bird feeding the little birds with food. Shane hummed in thought. For some reason, he was wondering what it'd be like to be a parent. He did remember that Martha has a daughter that visits her every once in awhile. Her name was Meg. Unlike her mother, Meg lives in a city that Shane has never been to before. He lived out in the country with Martha for most of his life.

The fox hung his head and sighed with uncertainty. He knows it won't happen. What fox would want to be with him? What fox would be with the fox that lived with a human? He thinks that every fox would look down upon him, for living with Martha. But he's a fox too and it's not fair to him. He took a deep breath and let it out. But life's not always fair and he knows it.

Before he could move on in his stroll, he heard screaming in the distance, "Help! HELP!!!" His ears perked and twitched at the direction of the shriek. It sounded like someone was screaming in horror. It sounded like a girl.

He let out a gasp. Someone's in trouble! He has to help!

Shane used all of his fours paws to sprint fast through the trees and bushes, hearing someone screaming for help again. It sounds like it's not far away at all. He knows there's a chance he'll save someone in time. He ran around a big oak tree and jumped over a thorn bush, not letting anything get in his way. He used his energy to run faster and when he heard the scream again, he knows it's close by. Very close by. He ran through another bush that wasn't filled with thorns and came out to see two foxes ahead near a cliff. He let out a small gasp. He can't believe it! He sees two foxes nearby! For the first time since he started living here, he's found two of them! One fox was female and the other one was male. She was backing away from the other one, who was menacingly taking each step towards her. He was glaring at her.

The female shook her head and pleaded with tears in her eyes, "Please, father! STOP!"

The male fox, who turned out to be her father, used one paw to swipe her across the face, knocking her away, "Shut up!" His daughter cried out in pain and when she fell back, her head hit a rock and she didn't move after that. She was just laying there. The father chuckled evilly at his fallen daughter, "Now you're mine."

Shane put on a glare and growled. He has to stop him now! He shouted, "Hey!" The fox who assaulted his daughter stopped in his tracks and turned to see Shane in a distance. Shane took one threatening step at a time towards him, "What do you think you are doing?" He bared his teeth.

The dad snarled, "That's none of your business! Now scram!"

The young fox crouched low, getting ready to fight, "This is my business. You have no business, hurting your daughter!"

The older fox smugly grinned for a moment and then he melted it away with a death glare, "Fine! Then I'll take care of you myself!"

Then they both ran and tackled each other. With the older fox on top of Shane, pinning him down with paws to his chest. Shane wasn't going to let him win, and he tried to use his jaws to snap at the attacker's nose. He yelped and jumped off and away from Shane to avoid his teeth. Shane got up off the ground fast and leapt at him. He sidestepped away from the young fox's attack and he landed near the old one.

The father snapped his jaws into Shane's shoulder and he cried as pain shot up through his shoulder and body. Then before he can dig his teeth into his shoulder, Shane striked at the side of the old one's face and sent him sprawling through the dirt. He groaned and before he could get up, Shane jumped on him and pinned him. But the older one was smarter than him, and used his hind legs to kick Shane in the stomach off of him. Sending Shane almost close to the edge of the cliff. But luckily, he didn't fall off and he was just laying on his side near it. He moaned as the pain in his shoulder's still there. He lifted his head and looked over the ledge. His face went wide as he saw that it's a long way down from up here. Long enough to kill someone.

Shane's thought snapped out off the ledge and turned his gaze onto the old threatening fox walking casually toward him. Shane started getting the feeling, that the old one thinks he's winning this fight. But Shane's not going to give up. His eyes turned to the cliff for only a moment, before he turned them back to his enemy. And he has an idea how to win the fight.

The father taunted with another step towards Shane, "Give up, young one? You're weak, just like my daughter!"

Shane jumped to his feet only with a grunt of pain, as his shoulder wound came to haunt him again. But he's not letting that stop him. He's going to save that girl, "Never!"

The old fox's face went into a glare and he sneered, "Then DIE!"

Shane was waiting for it to happen and it happened when the old one jumped right at him, claws held out at him. But Shane noticed that he underestimated his jumping power and he sidestepped away in time to see the old fox fly over the edge of the cliff and he screamed in shock and surprise, "NAAAAAAARRRRRRRHHHHHHH!!!!" Shane looked down and saw his figure falling down the high cliff and landed at the bottom. And he sees that he's gone. Gone forever from the earth.

He took a deep breath and let it out in relief. It was over. The battle was over. He slowly turned away from the cliff and looked to the young female fox still laying on the ground. She hasn't woken up yet. Shane had a concerned look on his face and ran to her, lowering his head to nudge her awake, "Are you alright?"

She didn't move after hearing that. But he can see her breathing a little bit. That meant she's unconscious. He let out a breath of relief, glad that the blow to the head by the rock hadn't killed her. It looked really bad from his point of view. He looked at her body and saw some scratch marks on her side and back. Shane had a pity look shone in his eyes. He figured that her father was hurting her and she was trying to get away from him. What kind of father would do that to his daughter? That's what he's wondering.

Shane looked at her face, noticing that she really looks like him. Only prettier. He chuckled at the thought. Then he decided to get serious about things. He needs to help her. He needs to take her back home. He better take care of her, while she recovers from the trauma. Then a thought came to him and he looked around to see that he's still alone with her. He's wondering if she has a mother, and she's back at home worried about what her mate's doing to her daughter. Shane let out a sigh. He'll have to worry about that later. His eyes went back to the unconscious female fox. For now, help her. Look for her mother later.

Shane grabbed her fur with his teeth and somehow managed to get her body on his back. He let out a whoosh of relief, seeing it'll be a lot better than dragging her along the ground like she's some kind of prey. And with that, with the vixen on his back, he started to walk away from the cliff and to carry her off back to his home.

*****

Shane was watching over the female fox, still laying on her side unconscious still. Both of them were in the stable together, after what had transpired with them. Carrying her back home was easier than dragging her. He's hoping she'll wake up soon. He wants to talk to her. To reassure her that her father won't come back and hurt her and her mother, ever again. Which he's wondering if her mother's looking for her right now. He let out a worried sigh. He'll have to put up with the thought for now. He doesn't want to leave her alone now. He has to make sure she's okay.

Now some questions were running through his mind. Why did her father attack her? Why was he going crazy? What did he want from her? He was angry just thinking about that evil fox. At least, he's dead now and won't hurt anyone anymore.

That's when the young female fox moaned herself awake, when she flicked her eyelids open. She groggily blinked some more, until her vision was getting better. Shane beamed when he saw that she's awake. He took a step toward her and said, "Hey."

The girl fox's eyes went wide with fear and she let out a sharp gasp. She was on her feet immediately and tried to scurry back from him, "Who are you?! Stay back!"

He stopped where he was at, with a shocked, confused face, "Huh? Wait, it's alright." But she wasn't buying it and she tried to run past him, but he stepped in her path to prevent her from leaving. She was having tears of fear welled up in her eyes and she ran to the corner of the stable. He called out to her, "Wait!"

She was cornered and with her body crouched real low, she had her face hidden away in her paws, "No! Get away from me!!!" She was shaking in fear as he was closer to her.

He was giving her a reassured look, seeing that she's really afraid of him. They never knew each other after all, so he's thinking that's why she's afraid of him. She's afraid he'd hurt her like her father. But he knows for certain, that's not gonna happen. Shane said with a low whisper, "Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. Everything's going to be ok."

She was whimpering a bit more in her paws, until she uncovered her face and looked up at him from down on the floor. She appeared to be calm by his words. Starting to see that he's telling her the truth. She asked with a somewhat hopeful voice, "R-Really?"

He nodded with a smile, "Yes. I'm not going to hurt you." He put his paw to his chest, "My name's Shane. What's yours?"

She was hesitant to tell him her name, but she said it a moment afterward, "Victoria."

"Well Victoria, I'm glad you're ok. You were asleep for a long time. I was wondering if you wouldn't wake up until nightfall." He shrugged his shoulders, "But apparently not."

She groaned when she shut her eyes and lifted one paw to the back of her head. The pain from hitting that rock so hard was still affecting her. Shane held out one paw, "Better take it easy. You've hit that rock pretty hard."

Victoria murmured, still rubbing her head, "W-What happened? I remember...." She trailed off and her eyes shot open when she just remembered and blurted out, "What happened? Where's my father? Where-" Then her eyes went to Shane's wound on his shoulder, as she finally noticed it. She let out a frightened gasp, "Oh no, you're hurt!"

He knew what she was talking about and he was waving her off with a dismissive paw, "No, I'm fine. Really I am. I was worried about you more." He was giving her a big grin, showing her that he's really alright.

Victoria figured out how he got that bit wound and said, "My father did this to you, didn't he?"

He answered with a breath let out, "Yeah." Then he gave her another big smile, "But he's dead now, and he won't be coming back. I've made sure of that."

Her face went wide at the revelation, "My....Father's dead?" He nodded and she hung her head letting out a breath of relief. Knowing that he saved her life from her father. Like a weight's been lifted off her shoulders, "Thank you, Shane. No one has never did this for me."

That's when a thought crossed his mind, "Look, Victoria. I need to ask you something. I...Kinda need your help." She was curiously staring at him and he asked the question, "Where's your mother? Do you have one?"

The questions seemed to have made her sad and she was hanging her head with a look of sadness on her face. Shane was pressing her with questions, "Do you have a home? What happened to you? And...Why did your father attack you? What's going on?"

With these questions asked, Victoria immediately shut her eyes and let out a breath that came out as a tremble, "She's....Dead."

Shane reared back his head with a shocked expression, "What?"

She was starting to have tears stream down her furred face and she was sobbing, "He....Killed her. Because she was trying to....Protect me. He did that....Several days ago. He was....Hateful! He killed her, because he was evil! He didn't care if he hurt her or me, he was controlling! And he....He...." She was trailing off as her sobs stopped her from talking.

Shane was close to her body, his shadow from the sun shining behind him through the entrance of the stable, was over her wracking, sobbing body. He just stood over her rubbing her back comfortingly with a paw. He didn't know what to say to her right now. He was shocked to hear all that from her mouth. That her mother's dead and her father didn't care. And...She's alone in this world. Without a family to be with....Just like him.

He continued to comfort her, until Victoria looked up at him with her face all wet from the tears. She got up off the floor on all fours, facing the handsome fox in front of her. Her eyes still misting, "Shane...." He tilted his head in pity for the girl and before he could say anything, he was being nuzzled to death by her with her cheek to his neck. Then she let out the words that completely shocked him, "He...He....TRIED TO MATE ME!" She just buried her face into his shoulder, sobbing loudly into him. Shane was shocked and disgusted by that part of the revelation. As a thought struck to his brain like lighting.

Her father said to Victoria while she was unconscious that she's his. Shane figured out what he meant, what he wanted from her, why Victoria was pleading for him to stop. He was planning to mate her without her consent and she figured it out. She was trying to get away from him, but he wouldn't let his daughter go. He's mad! He wanted to mate his daughter!

Now Shane was feeling very sorry for her. He never knew that happened to her, until now. And he doesn't know what to do now. Except the only thing he can do is comfort her. To let her know that she's safe and he won't hurt her. Shane wrapped his forelimbs around her back and hugged her close to him, "Shh, it's ok. Everything's ok." He was stroking her back with one, "Don't cry. Everything's okay. He won't hurt you. He's gone."

Victoria sobbed into his shoulder for a long time and he just held onto her. Meaning every word he said.

*****

Shane and Victoria are chasing each other through the woods, running along the raging river. The female fox was bounding fast from the handsome male fox chasing her. She was laughing so hard at his expression when she looked back at him. Her fluffy tail was bobbing up and down with each sprint, "Can't catch me!"

Shane was being smug about it, when he tried to snap her tail with his mouth, but she ran faster and pulled away in time. He groaned and she laughed again. Shane wasn't about to give up on this, "I'll get you!"

They shared a laugh together, both of them panting hard as they were running out of energy. Especially Victoria. She was finally slowing down for the male fox to catch up now. So with the extra burst of energy, he jumped off the ground and pounced on her back, "MWRAAAAAHHH!!!"

Victoria let out a gleeful laugh and she tumbled on the ground with him, "Eeeeee!!!" They were rolling and laughing a few feet, until they were both laying on their sides laughing still. Until they finally stopped and regained their composure. They both stared at each other, as they're still laying on their sides. Never spoke a word to each other, there was nothing but the sound of the river nearby. He let out a relaxed breath, as he stared at her eyes. She really looked happy today. Well to him, she seemed to look more happy than usual. He was feeling more happy lately, than before she met her. He was glad he did meet her in the first place.

It's been about several weeks since Shane rescued Victoria from her father and started living with him in his stable. On the day when she was crying, he offered her to stay with him since she doesn't have family and a home anymore, and she happily accepted. She knows that they were just strangers to each other, but she trusted him and Shane had no reason at all to distrust her. She seemed like a kind female fox to him. And as it turned out, she was great company to him. Just like Martha was great company to him years ago. Only now, he has the company of another fox.

Most of the time when they've spent all their time alone together, they talked to each other about their lives, here and there. What they liked and all. What their families were like. At first, Shane was hesitant to tell Victoria about Martha, but when he told her that he lived with a human for years, she didn't seem to mind it and it came as a surprise to him. She actually thought it was rather cute. And that sent a flutter in his heart when he heard her say that on that day.

They really do get along together, at least a lot better than how her mother and father gotten along. He even pictured what her parents were like when they were together. Even when she told him how her parents have lived together, he can still picture it. They weren't exactly the greatest couple in the forest. Her father was a real monster and how he treated Victoria and her mother, he'd wished that he killed her father sooner and saved BOTH of them. But he knows that dwelling on that fact won't change the past. And they both have to live with it. Even for Victoria, she really misses her.

He can relate to her pain. Even Shane knows that Martha's not dead, but it feels like the same thing to him. He didn't tell her about the part that Martha left him alone in the forest and never came back. Nor tell her why he was left alone in the forest. He's working on that.

Victoria was giggling as he was staring at her face. Her giggles brought his mind back to reality. They were both laying on their sides still. Then she poked his nose with her toe, "Hey! Are you sleeping with your eyes open? You're staring!" She was laughing hard at that.

Shane shook his head and he said with a blush on his face, "Oops! Sorry about that." He shifted on the ground, until he was on his stomach, "I was just....Stuck in thought."

She did the same thing and chuckled at that, "Funny, cause I thought the reason why you were staring at me was because you thought I was beautiful." She gave him a wink, "Hey, don't be shy to say it. I know that I am."

Shane gave her a smile at her statement. It was true, he did think of her as beautiful. Every time he laid his eyes on her, she looked like the most beautiful thing he's seen in the woods. Lately for the past week, he began to realize something. His heart was fluttering when he was staring at her eyes and form again. He was beginning to realize, after all the time she has come to known her, he was starting to love her. He didn't realize it at first, because he never felt anything like it before. But he began to find out what that feeling inside him means, and lately he wanted to ask her out, with every opportunity that's been open for him. But he never did. It's been several weeks since they've first met and he didn't want to rush it. He still thinks there is some time to be built upon before he could pursue that feeling.

But her eyes looking back at him was making him regret each time not asking her out. But he's still nervous. He never did anything like it in his life. He never went out with a....Girl.

Victoria poked his side and laughed, "Wow, I guess I was right! You are staring at me because I'm beautiful."

Shane shook his head, trying to bring himself to focus, he was blushing again, "Ahh, sorry about that. I think I'm just...Tired."

She got up on all fours and shook her fur and body from all the dirt she gathered when they both rolled around, "Well, we both ran so fast we're both tired by now!" Then she narrowed her eyes at him, "And I could've outrun you. You caught me!"

Shane rolled onto his back and clutching his ribs, laughing hard at that, "I was bound to catch you sooner or later! Can't outrun a boy forever!"

Then she nipped one of his ears and he yelped like a girl. She giggled when she softened her look, "Oh shut up. Or every time you make fun of me, I'll nip your ears until you behave."

He flattened his ears and rolled onto his stomach again, looking up at her, "You wouldn't dare!" Then he gave her a devilish grin, "You nip my ears, I'll nip yours!"

Victoria started to walk away a few steps from him, wiggling her haunches at him, "You'll have to catch me again to do that!" She laughed and ran away from him again.

He got up on his feet and called out to her, as he realized he was being outsmarted by her, "Hey!" Victoria stopped where she was at a distance, knowing that she's far enough away from him. He was about to chase her, but then a thought held him from dong so. He took a sniff in his nose and smelled something that was strange to him. He smelled it before, since the last few days.

And it came from Victoria. He tilted his head as his curiosity was clawing at his mind like it has before. What was that smell? And why does she have the smell? He can't quite figure it out yet. But he feels that he wants her more when he smells it. Like he wants to mate her.

He shook his head at the thought. He can't think about doing that! He can't think about hurting Victoria! He loves her, but he can't do that to her! He's not her father and he never will be! He can remember the frightened look on her face weeks ago, when her father wanted to have his way with her. That she was backing away slowly from her father, of all foxes.

He held his breath. He'll make a vow to not hurt her. He'll try his hardest to control himself.

He heard Victoria calling out to him, "Shane, come on!" He gasped and shook his head once more, trying to not let the troubling thoughts stop him from having more fun with her. He ran after her along the river. And when she saw him catching up, she started to run away giggling, with him giving chase.

*****

Shane was enjoying the view outside the stable during the night. He was looking at the stars twinkling in the sky, like he has before. His mind was back to Martha just as usual, when he looks at them. His fluffy tail curled around him, when he didn't take his gaze off the stars at all. He let out a pleasant sigh at his memories. He can picture Martha seeing Victoria for the first time and is actually happy for him that he has found a friend. Well...She might be more than a friend someday.

He chuckled to himself. He's picturing his human owner hugging Victoria and her eyes going wide, when she was being held tight by the human he knows. Surprised that a human's hugging her. Never expecting that to happen to her in her life. If only she could meet that human right now. If only both of them could see her now. Martha would be so happy to see him again, only this time with another fox. He can picture that all three of them are watching the stars in the sky together.

Shane puffed out his chest and let it out. Martha....He wish he could run into her arms and let her hug him, like she has done many times before. He wishes, like before, that she's here right now.

That's when he heard a voice that sounded like a female, "Shane?"

His head and ears perked up big time. He thought he'd heard Martha and found him. He turned his gaze and saw that it was just Victoria returning from her nightly walk in the woods and what's in front of her body on the ground, was a small branch with blueberries on it. She tilted her head and smiled at him, "Hi there. I see that you're star gazing again."

Shane returned the expression with a smile of his own, "Yep, just as usual. I was wondering when you'd come back."

She rolled her eyes, "Oh, you know me and my walks. I always walk for a long time."

He lowered his eyes to the branch on the grass, "Heh, I see that you've found blueberries! Where did you get those? I haven't had one of those since.....I don't remember when. But I think it has been awhile."

She replied, "Well, I just came across them and they weren't even far from here!"

Shane hummed in thought, "Probably just started to grow and didn't show up sooner."

She asked, "So are you hungry? I brought this back for you."

He tilted his head in question, "Aren't you gonna eat? I'm not even hungry."

Victoria was showing him a grin, "Nope, I'm not either. I was just bringing it back for you." She walked around past the branch and said, "You always bring food back for me, so thought I'd do the same. It's the least I can do for a strong, handsome fox like you."

He chuckled deep in his throat when she sat down on her butt beside him, "Handsome? You're calling me handsome?"

She gave his shoulder a hard pat, "Duh! Of course you are! Why wouldn't I call you that?"

He shrugged his shoulders and was grinning wide, "I don't know."

Then a thought came to her and she shared with that particular thought, "Well, you're staring at me all the time now because I'm beautiful, so I thought I'd return the favor of calling you handsome."

Shane was chuckling at that now, "Gee, still can't get over of me staring at you? I told you before, I was just tired." He was being modest about it, he was just too shy to tell her that she's beautiful.

Victoria teased him with a brush of her fluffy tail brushing along his back, "Yeah, fainting over my beauty. That's why you were tired." She was laughing hard and slamming her paw on the ground repeatedly. While Shane was rolling his eyes at her joke. She stopped and both of them were just silent. Victoria joined Shane on his star gazing. She just loves to star gaze, just like him. They remained silent for several moments, the only sounds were the crickets chirping. Shane held a look on his face and he let out a sigh. Victoria heard him, turned her head and saw his expression. She grew concerned for the handsome fox, "What's wrong? Something on your mind?" He hung his head in response and she figured what was bothering him, "It's Martha, isn't it?"

Shane sighed after her question, but he answered with a nod, "Yeah....I'm just thinking about her. Like I've done many times before. I can't...Forget about her." He giggled and looked at her, "Actually, I was picturing what your first meeting with her would be like. That the two of us would meet her and I would run into her arms and let her hug me. And she'd be surprised and happy, that I've made a friend and brought you to meet her. I was just imagining it."

Victoria was smiling at the thought, "I do admit when you talk about her, she sounds like a nice human." She growled when she brought this up, "More nicer, than the hunters who hunt our kind!"

He showed a glare and growled too. He has met a few of them hunters in the past, but he was lucky to evade and not be spotted. He would've been killed! But luckily, he wasn't. He said, "Yeah...Martha's not like that at all." He began to smile again, "And I'm glad that you don't judge me for living with a human. I appreciate it. In all honesty....I was afraid that other foxes wouldn't take me too kindly for living with one. It...Makes me feel like an outcast."

She shook her head and smiled reassuringly back, "You're not an outcast. You're still a fox, like me and like everyone else."

Shane broke his smile and looked at the sky, showing his sad emotion on his gaze, "I really miss her. She was always....Like a mother to me."

Victoria hung her head and showed the same thing on her face, "I can really relate. I miss my mother too. I wish you could've met her. Well...More than that, I wish that my father wasn't with us all these years. I wish he would've just left us alone and let us live our lives without any trouble. But instead....He gave us trouble. And he killed her, because she was protecting me from him. He....Was evil."

Shane took his eyes back to her with pity now, "I'm sorry for your loss. I...Wish there was something I could do."

Victoria showed a hint of a smile when he spoke to her. She shook her head and waved a paw in front of his eyes, "Don't worry about it. It'll pass...Someday." Then she cocked her head and asked, "By the way, speaking of Martha....You still didn't tell me why you were out here to begin with. Why are you living out in the woods? Why did Martha leave you? Did she really love you at all?"

He nodded, "Of course she does. She just...Didn't have much of a choice to leave me out here." He let out a depressed sigh and hung his head, "You really want to know the truth? To be honest....It was all my fault."

"Why is that? I don't get it. What did you do wrong that made you live out here?"

He can remember that moment like it was yesterday and he didn't say anything at first. But he began to tell his tale, "The truth is....Martha accidentally left the kitchen door open for me to wander out of her house. I was just walking around on foot, because I hardly ever get to do that. Usually when I'm outside, Martha's always there. She just....Doesn't want me out of her sight when I'm outside. She wants to keep an eye on me. Make sure I don't get hurt. But I just wanted to explore. So nearby, I saw a farmhouse with so many cows nearby...Out in the pasture. I remember seeing them when I'm with Martha outside, but I never got close to them. While I was sniffing and checking them out, that's when I saw some chickens near the hen house too. It was close to that farmhouse, at some distance away. So I was checking them out and...That's when I heard this voice. An angry voice."

She asked, "Martha was angry at you for running off?"

He shook his head and went on his tale, "No...It was the farmer who owns the cows and chickens. He was so angry at me, he pulled a....Gun on me." Victoria gasped and he shivered at the memory of the guy shooting at him, "It was scary. No one never....Tried to shoot at me before." He curled his tail tighter around him and he shifted his weight back and forth on his paws, "He was shooting at me, but I got away. Ran back home as fast as I could. Martha came outside screaming for me in the front yard when I found her. I was shaking in fright, I didn't know why he was shooting at me at first. The...Farmer came over and was screaming at Martha about me. It turns out, he never knew about her keeping me."

He let out a trembling breath, "His face....He hated me. He hated foxes. The reason why he tried to shoot me is because he thought I was going to eat the chickens. But that's not what I was doing at all. I wasn't hungry one bit. But guess what? He wouldn't have known. How can he? He can't understand me, he's a human. He wanted to kill me, but Martha wouldn't let him. Like a mother, she protected me. And that's when...He threatened to call the sheriff's department and threaten to take me away from Martha. I didn't understand what the sheriff's department was, but from what that man said, he said they'd....Kill me for causing a problem."

Victoria was feeling sorry for him and murmured, "Oh."

Shane shut his eyes tight and took a deep breath, "Martha realized that she couldn't protect me by staying with her. And since I was a full grown fox, she...Decided to take me out here and drop me off. I said goodbye to her, even though she can't understand me, and she said goodbye to me. That...Was the last time I've seen her."

The vixen shook her head in sympathy, "Oh, Shane."

He shuttered and opened his eyes and gazed at her, his eyes misting, "I felt alone living without her. I've always slept close to her in bed. I never lived out here before, I never had any experience living out here. I lived with Martha throughout my whole life. When I was just a kit. She found me in the woods, all little and alone. I never even knew who my real parents were. And Martha took me in. I didn't know what to do out here at first. But...Luckily, I've taught myself how to hunt. But even when I've grown accustomed to living here....I miss her and....I love her. I love my mother." He shut his eyes again as the tears streamed down his furred face.

Victoria started to nuzzle him with her nose and wrapped her forepaws around him, hugging him tight. He buried his face into her shoulder, as she was cooing him, stroking his back. He hasn't cried like that for years. Not since the first day he came here, living alone. When he knew that Martha's not coming back for him. That after he wandered alone for a long time, he found a spot to cry to under a big oak tree. He buried his face in his paws as he was letting out loud sobs, as he was laying under that tree.

He loves Martha...He loves her so much.

Shane cried only for a few minutes and that's when he could sniff that smell that's in the air. The smell that's coming from Victoria. But he controlled himself, when he felt his instincts and urges getting to him, when she was this close to him. He won't hurt her. He won't do it.

Shane let out a sniff and a breath. Not having the need to cry anymore, "Thanks, Victoria." He lifted his head off her shoulder and peered in her eyes, "Thank you, very much. I'm...Glad that I've found a friend out here. The one who could talk to me and keep me company. I was living alone in that stable for such a long time, I didn't think I would find anyone living with me. Thank you, Victoria. For being there for me."

Victoria gave him a comforting smile, "You'll see her again, someday."

He eyed quizzically at her, "But how?"

She shook her head, "I don't know how, I just think you will. Martha still loves you, I can feel it in my tail. I can feel that you two will reunite....One day."

He smiled back at her and just stared at her. Feeling lost in the look of her eyes. While they've both stared at each other, to Shane's surprise, she slowly closed her eyes and pressed her muzzle to his. His face went wide when their muzzles connected. One thought rang his mind. She was kissing him! The fox that's been living with him, is kissing him! He can't believe it. Shane backed away from her, breaking the kiss. She gave him a confused look, silently asking him why'd he back away.

Shane took a deep breath and said in a apologetic look, "I....I...I'm sorry. I was just...Surprised that's all."

She was having the same look too and hung her head in a bit of shame, "I'm sorry too. I thought you...Wanted it."

He cocked his head, "Wanted it? You...Thought I wanted it?"

Victoria pulled her gaze back to his and nodded, "Yeah...." She trailed off when she looked away from him, "It's just...You're really kind. You protected me from my father. Comforted me when I've missed my mother. And I was doing the same for you, when you thought of Martha. Honestly....I kinda like you." She shook her head and looked at him, "No, more than that. After all the times I've been with you, how much the things we have in common, how much we've gotten to know each other....I think I'm starting to love you. Like we're....We're...."

He finished for her, "More than friends?"

She nodded and chuckled with a small smile, "I thought the reason why you've stared at me lately is because you...Like me too. I'm pretty sure you never went out with another fox before."

Shane shook his head at that, "No, you're the first female fox I've met in my life." He hung his head as he thought about what to say next, "I liked you too, honestly. I've been planning to ask you out for awhile now. But I didn't want to rush it. I wanted to build some more time between us. I...Didn't want to scare you either."

She was shaking her head at that statement, "You're not scaring me. I know you. I know you all too well. And I trust you."

Shane can smell the scent from her again and his instincts were getting to him again. He groaned a bit and turned his eyes away. Victoria saw his conflicted face and asked in concern, "What's wrong? What's gotten into you?"

Shane turned his face to hers and said hesitantly, "Victoria....Do you trust me? Really trust me?"

She was smiling, "I do."

That's when he explained what's bothering him, "Look, Victoria...." He let out a sigh, "I've been...Smelling this scent on you. More than once." He gestured his paw toward her, "It's this strange smell, that I've never smelled before. And I think it's messing with my instincts. By the way they act....I feel like...I want to mate with you." She drew back her face with a wide look and he shook his head to try to explain it more to her, "I'm sorry, I've never felt something like it before. I've always controlled myself, because I...I care about you and I want to protect you. I'm not your father and I don't want to hurt you. I care for your safety and feelings." He waved a defiant paw at her with a determined face, "I won't hurt you. I won't."

Victoria lowered her eyes to the ground, letting the words from him sink in. Then she said after a moment passed, "I think I know why you'd want to do that. It's...Because I'm in heat." She looked at him once more, "I remember my mother told me something about this before she died. Lately, I've been feeling this tingly sensation...Near my butt and it itches like crazy! Now when you brought it up, when you smelled it, I've started to figure it out. I'm in heat, Shane."

Shane nodded too, knowing what she's talking about. She's ready for a male to mount her and have kits. He shook his head and sighed, "Look....We both know that we like each other, in the other way." Then he had a quizzical look on his face, when he tilted his head, "We are more than friends now....Are we?"

She smiled and nodded, "Yes."

That warmed his heart to hear her say that. Seeing that the girl he likes, really likes him back. And they're more than friends now. But his concern for her came back, "Look um...I know that you're in heat. And I can remember your face...You know...About your father. I don't want you to feel scared at the thought about me....Mating you. So if you don't want it, I won't do it. I won't make you feel scared."

Victoria stood on all fours and took a step toward him. She appeared to be shy about it and said, "Actually Shane....I want to do it."

His ears went up and his eyes widened, surprised at her words, "What? You...You..."

She giggled, "Yep. I want to do it. I want us to be complete. I would gladly share your kits. I know we can take care of them."

Shane was just nervous about this, since it'll be his first time to do it, and it'll be his first time being a father, "Look...I'm not so sure about this."

She was shaking her head, taking another step, "I am. I really want you in me. I trust you, completely. You're not my father and I'm not scared of this."

He stuttered, "But....But-"

She waved a dismissive paw at him with a narrowed look, "But nothing. Shane, I know we love each other. And I know that your instincts and feelings are telling you to do it. And if you're worried that you wouldn't be a great father, I beg to differ. You'll be the greatest father in the forest! It's like you said, you'll never be my father. And I know that you can do this. I know we'll be parents for the first time, but we'll make it work! My mom would want me to be happy and I want to be happy with you, as your mate. I want your children, Shane. I don't want anyone else. I can feel that you're the one for me. I...I love you." She made another step, until she was nose to nose with him. Having a hopeful look in her eyes, "Besides....Don't you think that Martha would want you to do this?"

He answered, "...Yes...I think she would."

She asked another question, "And have you ever thought about becoming a father?"

He admitted, "I did, but-"

She cut him off when she pressed their muzzles again, kissing him deeply. She tilted her head and started caressing his face with a paw. Shane was feeling lost in the love they were sharing, when she snaked her tongue in his mouth. He felt himself giving in a bit and he started kissing her back. Their tongues wresting now. His heart was fluttering at this. From another kiss from her and after knowing that they have a lot of things in common, he knows that she's the one for him as well. They were meant for each other.

They pulled away, Victoria pulling her pink tongue back in her mouth and she smiled at him, "Please? For me? I want you, and I want this."

He stared at her for a long time, as his conflictions for doing this to her were starting to melt away in the most part. He can see that she really wants it, and is not afraid of doing it. She wants to be a mother and he knows that he wants to be a father too. He can think that Martha would want him to have a family for the first time in his life and so would Victoria's mother. And with those thoughts, he began to smile back and replied, "Alright." Then he motioned his muzzle towards the stable behind him, "Come on. Lets not do this out in the open. Lets do this somewhere...More private."

Victoria let out a glee of excitement and scurried fast past him to the stable. He let out a laugh and padded casually after her. He had to admit, he was excited too. He knows he never did something that's very intimate before, but he does have an idea about it. On occasion, he has seen some animals mating together. Including deer. He just caught sight of them mating passionately and none of them don't know it. Shane was mostly curious about the whole mating thing. He's seen males mounting their female companions and he can also see the thing between their legs and penetrate their lovers. That's how he gotten the idea of how he should do this to Victoria.

When he entered the stable and Victoria grinning wickedly at him, the concept of him not mating at all in his life was making him nervous now. He's afraid that he won't do a good job at doing it. He's afraid of being embarrassed. Victoria giggled and turned her back slowly to him. Moving her tail aside and showing him her folds. Around the white fur on her hind end, her lips were puffy and red, and that showed anything, including him, that she's in heat.

He visibly looked shy and he shifted nervously around on his paws. Victoria looked over her shoulder and saw his nervous expression, "Now what's wrong? I'm not afraid, remember?"

He hung his head in a bit of shame and embarrassment, "I know that. It's just....I never really did anything like this before. I've never mated at all."

She nodded and smiled, "I know that. I know you never did. And there's nothing to be ashamed about. And here's the thing, I never did also." She gave him a cute wink at the remark.

Shane looked at her after he heard her say that. And surprisingly that brought a lot of confidence to him. Now there's nothing to hold him back. Now he's going to give her what she wanted. He won't back down now. He padded up behind his soon to be mate and took a deep sniff of her folds. She flinched a bit when his nose touched her. She chuckled and brushed her beautiful fluffy tail against his face, in a seductive way. She continued to watch him, wait for him to do it.

And he was going to do it. Shane started to climb on her back and she out a hum when she watched him mount her. He grunted when he was trying to climb on her, but he made it. And now his weight is pressed down on her. She held her ground, holding herself firmly above the ground with the weight on her back. Shane nuzzled her back lovingly and he can feel his malehood coming out of him. The pink thing between his legs was showing itself and was throbbing. Ready to take her. He positioned his hips to hers, the tip of his cock can feel the heat from her puffy lips, he let out a moan of anticipation. Victoria's instincts appeared to have gotten to her as well, as she tried to back herself into him. Not wanting to wait any longer.

He got the message and he slowly tried to get his hood in her. He missed once, but on a second try, his tip pressed against her entrance and he pressed it into her, finally getting it in there. Victoria's face scrunched by the feeling of being stretched by his cock entering in her and so was his face. He shut his eyes tight, trying to hold it together, as her tunnel walls were squeezing his tool after starting their union. He stopped for a minute, for them to get used to this. Then his lover backed into him and he gave her one hard push, that sent all of his shaft all the way up to the hilt, penetrated her deeply. He broke through her innocence and he was fully in her. She gave out a sharp cry when he done so, and Shane licked the back of her neck in comfort. Apologizing for what he did. Victoria didn't seem to mind it at all, she was okay with it.

They both were stuck like this, waiting for their union to get used to, and for giving her a break most of all, after giving her such a hard push. That's when instincts started to kick in into Shane's mind and he started pulling himself out of her. His foxhood was scraping the walls of her tunnel with each tug. Until his tip was almost out of there. And with that, he shoved it back in her. She let out a grunt when he took her with one soft thrust. He pulled out and pushed himself back in her depths.

His instincts were telling him to mate her fast and hard, so he would release his seed in her. But he was kind enough to not hurt her. This was both their first times and he wanted to make their first times, as memorable as possible. Shane was taking her slow and softly, basking in the warmth of his girth in her tunnel. It felt incredible to him, never felt anything like it before. He realized he has missed out on a lot of things and it was this! Soon enough, the tunnel was getting real used to his malehood and he was taking her easily now, as her tunnel was wet with arousal and pleasure.

And speaking of pleasure, Victoria was letting out cute grunts when he was pushing back in her. Pleasure was shooting throughout her body and she knows she won't forget that amazing feeling. She was feeling hot and she began to pant. She arched her back as Shane hit a sensitive spot in her, that made her walls clench tightly around his girth. She let out a pleasured moan and her claws dug into the ground beneath her. She cried out, "Shane! This is amazing! Give it to me...HARDER!"

He did what she demanded and he began to push in and out of her harder and faster. She was letting out a cry of excitement as she took her a bit roughly, "Ah yes! Oh!" She was closing her eyes, as Shane was smiling above her. Proud that he's doing a good job at this. Actually for his first time, he wasn't doing bad at all. He was good at this and that came as a surprise to him. He was grunting, as he held on the front of her hind legs with his paws, and pushed his hips back into hers. Eliciting another loud moan from her. She drew back her ears and pawed at the dirt.

Shane was giving her thrust after thrust, and in doing so, sending more wave of pleasures in her body. The warmth was getting intense on his shaft now. More warmer than before. Her sex was kissing his cock, as he was giving another push in her confides. She was trying to milk him of his essence. And he was going to give her his essence soon. Victoria moaned, bucking back into him, timing right with his thrust, "Oh, Shane! Give it to me!"

He was giving it to her with all the energy he has. He was panting too, just like Victoria. With another hard fast shove of his breeding tool, she was moaning loudly for him. Moaning for his name. He did the same, when he pulled and thrusted in her. They've mated passionately for a while. Then after time has passed, he started to feel this pressure within his loins. A pressure he never felt before. Then he can feel something else form. It was his knot full of cum. Even though this is his first time doing this, he's getting a feeling that his seed's going to be coming out of him soon. And with his instincts getting to him again, he was going faster and harder, as he can get. The final throes of their passionate mating was there. He bared his teeth and drew his head to her shoulder and bit down on it. It was to give her some more pleasure, not to hurt her. Victoria arched her back again and shot up her head and screamed loudly for her lover on her back. As she felt his belly rubbing her back faster. She was clawing deeper in the dirt, making deep cuts as he mated her roughly.

Victoria threw up her head and moaned once again, "SHANE!!!"

He was smacking her hips, not listening to anything but his instincts. His thrusts were becoming erratic now. His knot was hitting the entrance of her tunnel, over and over again. He's trying his best to get it inside her. Shane's jaws let loose of her fur and he moaned loudly for his mate, "V-Victoria!"

He was going at her with several more erratic thrusts, until he slammed into her for one final time, finally locking them together. Making them one with permanence. Now there's no way he could pull out of her if he wanted to. Victoria was the first one to came and she cried out as her walls clenched real tight around him. He groaned and shut his eyes as the tightness was getting to him. Then his knot bursted and he came afterward with a loud scream. Sending his wave of life giving seed within the depths of her sex. His cock was spurting fast into her womb, with every load he gave. He jerked his hips a couple more times, then he sagged onto her back, panting loudly as he was still cumming in her. Victoria panted too, both of them feeling spent by the experience.

His spurts came to an end and so did their height of their pleasure. After they both stopped panting, he tried to pull out of her, but realized he's still stuck. His face went wide and he giggled, "Well...I'm thinking we're stuck like this for a little bit."

Victoria went limp and lowered herself to the ground smoothly on her stomach. Humming in total delight, "I can wait. Besides..." She looked over her shoulder to see her handsome lover on her back still, "I like having you on my back. You feel warm."

He chuckled tiredly at that, "So do you, my mate." He reached forward with his neck and they shared a passionate kiss. It seemed like a fitting end to their mating. Their tongues started a wrestling match again and she moaned when he shoved it down her throat. Shane pulled back and looked at his mate in her eyes. They were staring back with the same love as his. His mind thought back to how he met her weeks ago. He was glad to have met her. Glad to have been best friends with the female, to now mates. He'll never forget this moment and neither would she.

And he can imagine....That Martha's very proud of what he's done. That he found someone to spend the rest of his life with. Victoria gave his cheek a lick and said the words that'll warm any males heart, "I love you."

He smiled and nuzzled into the back of her neck, saying this to her for the first time, "I love you too."

For awhile afterward, his knot finally deflated and he was free to pull out of her now. She let out a small weak cry when he did, he felt too weak to stand on his feet and he flopped down beside her, laying with her. Victoria cuddled with him and her tail laid over his. Soon slumber was coming forth to both of them and they closed their eyes. Letting the sound of the crickets outside, help them drift into further sleep.

*****

Shane was awoken by the sun's rays. He blinked groggily at the sun hit him hard. He rose his head off the ground and let out a big yawn, his tongue curling also. He looked down beside him and saw his beautiful mate sleeping peacefully beside him. Victoria hasn't been awaken by the sun like he was. She was sleeping through it. He smiled at her cute sleeping form. Still happy and glad that he finally has her. He was real glad. The night they shared last night, was nothing like the nights before he met her, and also the nights her shared with her as friends. Now they're sleeping close together as mates.

He lowered his head to her side and nuzzled her shoulder softly. Trying to not wake her up from her slumber. She moaned a bit and shifted around on the floor. She didn't wake up. He still smiled down at her, when he heard a voice call out his name from a distance outside, "Shane!" His ears perked to the direction of the voice and he looked outside through the entrance of the stable. The voice sounded familiar to him. He decided to get up and check it out. His curiosity was buzzing around in his brain like a fly over his head. He was quiet enough to not wake up Victoria, as she hadn't heard the voice and woke up.

Shane made his way to the entrance and looked outside. He heard the voice again, "Shane!" He tilted his head in confusion. It really did sound familiar to him. Then from what he can see from the woods far away from the stable, he can see something emerge from them. Not a critter in the woods, but a human. A female human. A middle aged human with long, blonde hair.

He let out a gasp, as the face seemed familiar to him. Wait? Could that be?

The human cupped her hands to her mouth and shouted through them, "Shane!" Then she saw the stable and began to walk towards it. When he was focusing his eyes at the face of the human, he knows why that voice and face is real familiar to him. He knows that human!

It's Martha!

He let out a happy gasp at the realization, and opened his mouth to say her name softly, "Martha." He can't believe his eyes, but it's true. And he knows that it's not a dream, it really is real. And he remembered what Victoria said to him last night. That he'll see Martha again one day, and her words came true. After four years, she's back in his life. His heart was beating happily at this.

Martha can see Shane standing there alone and she hollered for him again, "Shane!"

Shane was smiling brightly and he had enough standing there. He's going to be with his mother. He ran full speed out of the stable, heading towards her. Martha had a big smile wash on her face, realizing that it's really him. She crouched down to the dirt and held out both hands for him. Ready to hug him. Shane threw himself into her arms and chest, and she hugged him tight, with tears immediately flowing down her cheeks. The male fox was nuzzling into her neck and shoulder, while Martha was rubbing his back tenderly. In his eyes, she hasn't changed much, neither did her stroking. Martha lovingly said to him, "Oh, Shane. I've missed you so much."

Shane was burying himself into her chest, basking in the reunion he's having. After four years, they've reunited.

The things that really have happened to him recently, were just so unexpected. First he has a mate, and now he has a human, who he refers to as his mother, return to him. He's thinking about showing her Victoria, but right now, he wants to enjoy this. There's nothing much else he'd rather have, than them.

Martha said with a happy sob out of her mouth, as she continued to stroke the fur on his back, "I love you, Shane."
