2 - Mutt makes a friend
#5 of BnM
A rainy night for cuddling. Written 2013.
Billy hurried along the street, looking in every nook and alley for a suitable place to get out of the rain for the night, checking back occasionally to make sure Mutt was still tagging along. It had just started to drizzle, but the porcupine knew in his quills that it was going to get much heavier very quickly and they didn't need to spend the night soggy. He caught a glimpse of a boarded up doorway and headed for it, catching the fox's arm to make sure he followed. The door looked open behind the planks, but they were solidly nailed with no space bigger than a child, or maybe a starved fox. "Gimme a hand with this." Billy nudged his friend as he started pulling at each plank to find a loose one.
Mutt squeezed through the opening and rammed his shoulder into a plank from the inside. Wincing, he sat down just inside and rubbed it.
Billy smirked, but got a surprise as he grabbed the plank and it came off easily, "Huh, that's using you're head, I guess."
"It was my shoulder and it still hurts."
Billy sighed, his friend's moment of genius was brief. He picked up his bag and squeezed through the new hole, then put the board back in place as best as he could before closing the door. "Hey Mutt, time to glow."
"Huh?" The fox thought for a moment, then get excited, "Really?"
"Yes really."
They had come across some chemical glow sticks earlier that day. After Billy described what they do and how they work, Mutt wanted to try them all out, but Billy made him wait. In order to appease him, he put him in charge of them and let him keep them in his pack. Now, the fox dug into his bag and pulled out one of the foil wrapped plastic sticks and fumbled to get it open. In his hate, he managed to crack it before getting it out of the package. "Aw, this one's already lit. Can I do another one?"
"Not right now. Wait until we need light again. For now, let's check this place out and find a good place to settle down for the night." The orange glow gave a little more detail to the dark room. It was in disarray, but appeared to be an office. Another door led to a hallway with doors labeled as bathrooms and also out into a seating area with a big glass front to the street. Billy quickly covered the glow stick in Mutt's paw.
"What're you..."
He covered Mutt's mouth just as quickly, "shh. We don't want people outside noticing us in here."
"Oh. Right," he covered the glow with his own paws and hurried to find a place away from the window that he could let his light shine. "Hey Billy, a kitchen."
"SHH!" Billy followed the glow to find Mutt half in a fridge.
"Aw, its empty and warm."
Billy tested the sink, "At least there's water. We can make this work."
"You can make anything work."
"Yeah, but being stuck inside, it will be good to have a working toilet."
"Um..."
"Alright, let's leave our bags and the light in here." Billy walked back to the front and could see the rain coming down so heavy he couldn't see the other side of the street anymore. Down the hall, he opened the men's room door, "Oh, its just a single. You can use the other one."
"But it says females."
"I won't tell."
"But I'm male."
"Its just a toilet. Nobody else is coming in. You can use it now."
"If you say so."
Billy closed the door and leaned against the sink with a sigh. His moment of solitude was cut short by a scream. He bolted out the door and turned just in time to catch a young mouse girl in a pale green skirt and top plowing into him as she ran down the hall crying "Don't hurt me.Don't hurt me.Don't hurt me."
He tried to get her to stand still, so he wouldn't accidentally prick her, "Hey, calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. Stop squirming before you hurt yourself."
She stopped and looked up at him. He smiled his rodent smile and she clung to him. "The mean fox was going to eat me."
Billy looked at Mutt's shocked face proclaiming his innocence and started laughing, "I doubt that. He's my friend."
The girl cautiously turned to look at Mutt, who tried to smile as pleasantly as his fox face could. She buried her face against Billy's chest, then looked up at him, "He's nice?"
Billy nodded, "Very."
"Then why was he in the girl's room?"
Billy laughed again as Mutt blushed, "I sent him in there, because I was going to use this one. We didn't think anyone else was here."
The mouse hid against Billy again, "I'm sorry. I was just looking for a place to hide."
He rubbed her back, "Its okay. So were we."
"You were? Are you in trouble?"
"No. Are you?"
"Um no... Well, kind of."
"Oh? Why don't you tell us about it? But first, I still need to use the toilet."
Mutt piped up, "Me, too."
"Okay. Mutt, you go first and I'll take... What's your name?" Billy looked down at the girl.
"I'm Jinsey, no, Jin," the mouse smiled at her more adult sounding name.
"Okay. I'll take Jin to the kitchen, where we can be more comfortable."
"Oh" Jin hurried past Mutt to the ladies room, keeping her eye on him the whole way and came out with two big bags. She watched him as she walked by again, then reattached herself to Billy.
Billy mouthed to his friend, "Its okay," then led Jin to the kitchen.
Mutt watched them go, then hurried into the men's room.
Billy found some chairs and set them up together, putting the young mouse in one. "I'm sure Mutt will want to hear the whole story, so I'll tell you some about us. I'm Billy and he's Mutt. We've been together about four years, since our parents died."
"They died? That's so sad. Are you brothers?" she leaned over and hugged his arm.
"Well, not really, but it feels like it sometimes."
Mutt found them and plopped into his seat, still clinging to his glow stick..
"Good, my turn." Billy started to get up, but Jin held onto his arm. "Its okay, Mutt will protect you."
She looked at him pleadingly.
"He's not going to eat you. If he does, I'll break him in half."
Now Mutt had the pleading look. "You wouldn't really break me in half, would you?"
"You're not going to eat her, are you?"
"No."
"Then everybody's fine and I can use the toilet. Play nice." Billy hurried off, not caring if his quills rattled.
The fox and mouse watched him go, then Jin kept her eyes on Mutt. She noticed the bit of light escaping from his paws. "What's that?"
"Huh?" Mutt looked where she was looking and opened his paws, "Oh, that's my glow stick. It makes light because I mixed the chemicals inside together. Billy says we have to keep it hidden from the front window, so nobody sees us and kicks us out, or worse."
"Can I touch it?"
"Sure." He held out his 'magic' stick and she felt up and down and on the end.
"Its not hot."
"Nope." Trying to sound more experienced than he was. "It just makes light"
A crack of thunder and Jin leapt into Mutt's lap, knocking the glow stick to the floor. He held her and tried to be comforting, "Its okay, its just thunder."
"I don't like thunder," she curled close in his lap with her eyes squeezed shut.
Another rumble of thunder made her shake. She opened her eyes and saw Billy in the doorway. She jumped out of Mutt's lap and scampered over to cling to the porcupine's front.
"What happened here?" he held her and rubbed her back comfortingly.
"She's afraid of thunder." He retrieved his glow stick from the floor.
The mouse stuck her tongue out at Mutt and the fox did the same back.
"Well, why don't we get our beds ready and we can hide there together from the storm."
Jin nodded and hurried to grab her bags. Billy took his bag to an empty storeroom and Mutt followed in behind Jin. "No windows and plenty of floor space."
Jin started unpacking one of her bags: sleeping bag, flannel blanket, big pillow, plush mouse.
"Looks like you came prepared."
"I packed everything I thought I would need." She started unpacking her other bag: tapioca pudding cups, cheese crackers, rice cakes, tins of spaghetti, cookies, peanut butter, jelly, snack cakes and more similar food.
"No wonder that one was heavy."
Back in the first bag, she pulled out a laptop, a phone, an electronic game, two books and a small bag. She opened the little bag and pulled out a neat bundle of money.
Billy pushed the money back to the bag, "You shouldn't show that off to everybody."
"Its okay, I trust you." She put her money pouch back in the bottom of her bag.
Billy sighed and unpacked his own bag: sheet, blanket. He spread his blanket out beside where Mutt had already laid out his. "Why don't you point your head toward us, so we can talk for a while."
The mouse looked a bit disappointed, but agreed. She had missed all the rumbles while she was unpacking, but just as she finished unzipping, a low boom made her jump and scramble inside. She covered her head and peeked out. Mutt tried not to laugh.
"Its alright. We're safe in this little room." Billy lay on his belly, propped up on his arms.
Jin took a breath, then crawled out and pulled off her top.
"Did you pack any pajamas in all that stuff?"
"Uh oh." She paused and blushed as she was unbuttoning her skirt.
"Do you have any other clothes?"
"I did pack my two favorite outfits," she said proudly, but forgot about her skirt and it fell to the floor. She noticed, but stood defiantly. "You guys aren't wearing anything."
Mutt and Billy looked at each other, searching for an answer. "We don't have anything."
"Well, I'm with you now, so I won't wear clothes, either."
"Um. Well, get in your bag and we can think about it more tomorrow."
She bounced, happy about her win and got in her bag.
"Now, tell us about your day."
Jin fidgeted with her pillow, "Well, mom and dad were talking and I heard them say that they can't afford me anymore. So, I'm gonna find my own place to live."
"Are you sure they were talking about you?"
"I heard my name"
"Do you really want to leave?"
"Not really, but I don't want to make my parents homeless."
"Maybe you could just give up some of the things that cost them money."
"I guess."
"Then you wouldn't have to give up everything and you could stay with them."
"That does sound better."
Mutt piped up, "Listen to him he's smart."
Jin giggled, then looked at Billy, "Do I have to go back now?"
"Its wet out there, I think we can wait until tomorrow."
"Good, 'cause I'm comfy." A loud crack of thunder and the mouse shot out of her sleeping bag and buried herself under Billy's sheet. The porcupine quickly rolled to his side to avoid pricking her and got a full view of her bare rear. She only made it hallway under the sheet and with her legs tucked under, her bum stuck up in the air. Her tail was curled between her legs and neatly framed her young slit.
Billy cleared his throat as ideas popped into his mind that he didn't think he should be having, "Um Jin, why don't you turn around."
She scrambled around and clung to his chest. He was glad she kept her knees curled, because he was certain he had a stiffy and was trying to clear his mind and make it relax. He stroked her back and she started to calm down.
"Can I sleep over here tonight?"
"I'm not sure that's..."
"I feel much safer snuggled between the two of you."
Mutt looked up, feeling suddenly included.
"Why don't you cuddle Mutt tonight?"
"I can do both," she turned over and pushed her back up against Billy, then beckoned to the fox, "Come over here, Mutt and give me your fluffy tail."
Mutt crawled over and cuddled up to her.
"No, silly. Turn around."
He rolled over and slid back against her. She giggled and pulled his tail up between them.
"Now we're a cuddle sandwich."
Billy was already feeling uncomfortable, but he told himself he could make it through one night and everything would be okay.
They cuddled for a while. She would flinch at loud booms, her tail twitching and tickling him in ways that made him wonder if he'd ever get to sleep.
Finally, he was starting to drift off, when she suddenly grabbed his erection, "What's this?"
Billy gasped and tried to think as she turned around, still holding it firmly.
"Is it your willy?" she pushed the sheet aside trying to get a look.
"Its... wait..." Billy felt lost as to what to say to her and Mutt looked over his shoulder to see what was going on.
"My dad told me how things work when they told me they were trying to make a little brother for me."
"Oh? ...well that's attached."
"Sorry," she let go, then moved closer for a better look.
"Hey, do you have to stare?"
"I just want to see what it looks like,"she touched the tip and measured the length with her paw. "That's supposed to fit inside me?" She spread her legs and held her paw between them, then tried spreading her little slit open.
"I'm not sure that's..."
"My dad says that's how it works. Will you show me?"
Mutt turned around and sat up, watching intently.
"I don't ..."
"You don't have to do anything, just show me how it works."
Billy knew it was a bad idea, but Mutt was looking eagerly at him and he couldn't handle disappointing both of them. "Alright, just in and out."
The young mouse wriggled with excitement.
"Now lay back and stay still." She caught her breath and Mutt watched with her as the porcupine knelt between her legs and laid his erection over her slit. "Are you ready?"
She nodded, sucking on her lip and watching intently.
Billy looked up at Mutt, then spread her slit and guided his erection into her. It was more difficult this time. He got in a little, then stopped and tried again to get a little further. He couldn't decide if she was too small or what was the matter. "I don't think its going to fit."
Jin looked disappointed, though a little pained, "Just try again. I want to see it. I'm okay."
Billy focused again and shoved a little further into the young mouse.
She gasped and bit her lip, but nodded for him to continue.
He shoved again and she squeaked, "Okay stop, stop. That's... I can't... Ow"
Billy started to pull out, but she squeaked again, "No, don't... don't move."
He stopped and waited for her, feeling much less in the mood and very much like he'd hurt her. His erection waned and she whimpered as it slid out of her. "Are you okay?"
She covered her crotch with her paws and curled up, whimpering lightly.
He put his paw on her thigh, "I'm sorry I hurt you."
She looked back at him, "Its okay. I'm sorry I made you. Did it hurt you?"
Billy shook his head, "Only a little."
Mutt leaned in, "Didn't you say the doe had you lick it first?"
Jin looked at him, "What doe?"
Billy looked at Mutt, a little surprised, "Yeah, she did." He looked at Jin, "She showed me how to do this."
"You had a teacher? Did it help?"
"Well I was in before I knew it."
"Can we try that?"
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'll be fine."
"Can I do it?" Both rodents looked at the fox and he shrank back, "I'm sorry. I just... wanted to."
Billy looked at Jin and shrugged, "Can he?"
The mouse looked a little scared, "I guess."
"Relax, he won't bite." Billy slid back and Jin rolled on her back and spread her legs again. She watched Mutt carefully as he crawled between her legs and looked at her slit, now a little red from the previous effort. He looked up at her and she nodded, both more than a little nervous.
He leaned in and sniffed. He could smell Billy and Jin, but none of the extra smells he had caught with the doe. He licked slowly up her slit, which made her gasp and he froze, "No, its okay. I'm just a little scared."
He continued his lick, then did it again. She sighed and relaxed, so he kept licking. He licked faster and her vagina began to open. His tongue slipped inside and she chittered softly. He thought he tasted blood and stopped again.
Jin moaned happily, "Oh don't stop, its just staring to feel good."
Mutt resumed licking, pushing his tongue deeper for more flavors. The young mouse moaned and giggled and looked at Billy, "Oh this feels so good. I wish you could feel it, too. Billy, will you kiss me?"
Billy smiled and leaned down to kiss her cheek, but she turned and caught his lips. They stayed like that for a while as she moaned happily into the kiss.
Mutt suddenly found the extra flavor and decided quickly that he liked it. He started licking deeper and faster and Jin gasped, breaking the kiss. She was panting and pawing at the fox's ears, which only drove him on.
"Oh please, please," she tried to pull her thoughts together, but every lick sent shivers through her body that stole them away. She looked to Billy pleadingly, "Please, oh, make him, ah, make him stop."
"That's enough, Mutt."
The fox glanced up, but kept licking, trying to get every bit of that flavor.
"Mutt, stop. She's had enough."
He looked at Billy, then gave one more deep lick and slurp that made the mouse squeak and moan, then lay there whimpering. "But I like it. I want more," the fox licked his lips.
"Later." Billy put his paw on his friend's shoulder. Mutt whined and crawled back to sit against the wall.
Billy sighed and checked on Jin; she was grinning and panting. "Did he hurt you?"
She looked at him and smiled, "Oh no, it felt wonderful, but it was like being tickled, I just couldn't take anymore." She rolled to get closer to him and held his paw, "Can we try again? I think I'm ready now." She glanced at Mutt, sitting with his knees up and his paws in his lap, and smiled, "My new fox friend showed me it could feel good. Now I want to feel you."
"Alright, but just in and out, right?" He was feeling too worried to be aroused, but calmed his nerves as he moved into position and tried to work up an erection with thoughts of the doe. Looking down to see the young mouse's wet vagina spread open, he realized he didn't need them. He pointed it in and looked up at her, "Ready?"
She nodded and he pushed. She was still a tight fit, but it slid in much easier this time. They were both panting at the immensely more pleasurable sensation by the time his hips met hers. He fought to control his urge to thrust, but she gave in to her instincts and squeezed mercilessly. The tightness and motions drew him quickly to climax and he began to ejaculate inside her. She felt the sudden surge and panicked, trying to slide away, "Stop it. Get it out!"
He tried to pull out, but she squeezed tight and trapped the flared head inside. He winced and pushed her legs apart, "Let go. Its stuck."
She only succeeded in squeezing tighter. Billy tried to relax himself and soon his waning erection slipped out of her, sending a few squirts onto her belly and crotch. He panted his relief and looked over at Mutt just in time to see him stroking his own stiffy and send a few squirts toward the mouse, who didn't notice.
She was too busy examining the mess on her belly and oozing out of her, "What is this?" She brought some up to her nose on her paw and sniffed it; it smelled kind of like the porcupine. She tasted some of it and smiled, then licked her paw clean and scooped up some more, "You taste good."
"Um, thanks." not sure what to think of that compliment, he sat back on his heels and looked from the mess he'd made in the mouse to his fox friend milking a mess of his own. It seemed surreal, but definitely real.
Jin rolled over and crawled toward him, then wrapped her arms around his neck, "Thank you." Then she kissed his lips and giggled, "That was fun." She looked down and saw his limp thing sticking out enough to be noticed, "Got any more in here?" She took it in her paw and leaned down to lick a drip from the tip, then slipped her mouth around it and sucked like a straw.
He moaned in surprise, his erection quickly returning and the reaction only encouraging her.
She slid her knees back for a more comfortable position while she sucked eagerly on his erection and stuck her tail in the air.
Mutt needed no more invitation; he eagerly crawled over and stuck his nose between her legs, his tongue quickly finding the sweet spot he had before. He paused only a moment when he tasted Billy, then continued digging deep for her delicious flavor.
Jin gasped and looked back at Mutt, then giggled and moaned as she resumed her own flavor quest.
Billy grunted happily and rubbed the mouse's ears, only half noticing Mutt with his nose buried under her tail. He tried to hold back his peak, but soon was cutting short a squeal as he squirted into her mouth.
She sucked it down and giggled, then pulled back and let it land on her face, licking off what she could. Then just lay her head in Billy's lap, holding his erection in her paw, as the attention to her ears and Mutt's ceaseless tongue drove all thought from her mind.
Mutt renewed his efforts as a new burst of flavor arrived. He lapped it all up, then pulled back, licking his lips, and decided it was time for his erection to get a turn. Just as he lined up, her legs slid until she was laying on the ground. Undeterred, he tried to maneuver to get in anyway, but she curled up. He was just about to slip his stiffy between her legs, when Billy sighed, "Come on, Mutt. Its time for bed. Looks like she's already asleep."
Billy pried her paw open to escape, then rolled her to the middle of the two blankets and curled up behind her.
Mutt whined and looked at the red tip sticking out of his paw, then lay down in front of the mouse and tried to think of something other than the throbbing between his legs.
Billy woke up and assessed the situation: a young mouse girl clinging to his arm, Jin, and no Mutt. He looked around the room, but there wasn't much light, only a little coming from the open door. He hoped Mutt hadn't wandered too far. Though he was sure the fox could take care of himself for a while, he didn't want to risk losing him. There was something about him that just refused to grow up. Could have had something to do with his mother dying when he was so young. Though Billy lost his parents around the same time and he felt fine, but he was probably older, like the doe thought.
His attention shifted as the mouse stirred, "Good morning."
Jin smiled up at him and rolled over, "Mmm, good morning, Billy."
"And how are you feeling this morning?"
She squeezed his arm, "I'm happy. Can I stay with you another night?"
Billy thought about how good it had felt, then reminded himself that her family was probably looking for her, "I'm sure your parents are worried about you."
"Yeah," she looked dejected, then brightened with a thought, "Can we do what we did last night, right now?"
Billy considered what time they might have and was about to agree, when a crash from outside the door made them both jump. They hurried out to see Mutt in front of a cabinet, with a pile off metal shelves at his feet and a guilty look on his face, "Sorry. I was just looking to see what was here."
Billy hurried over and helped him put the shelves back in the cabinet, "Why don't we see about cleaning up and making ourselves invisible." He looked around the kitchen, "We can wash up in that sink over there."
Mutt nodded and went over to start washing his hands and face. Jin followed and peered in, "Wow, these sinks are huge. I bet I could take a bath in one." Without hesitation, she pulled a chair over, climbed onto the metal counter and stepped into the sink. She beckoned Mutt, "Come on, I bet you can fit, too."
Mutt climbed up the chair and stepped into her sink.
"No, the other one, silly."
He stepped over the partition, into the other sink.
She giggled and turned on the water, "Now, we can sit down and take our baths." She moved the spout to her side, then back to the middle, so it hit the partition and splashed into both sinks.
Mutt laughed with her and rubbed the water over his body, leaning forward to let it cascade down his back.
Billy chuckled at the two playing in the sinks, then found a smaller sink and set about washing himself by hand, paying special attention to his now crusty crotch. He didn't want to bathe the way they were because his quills wouldn't dry quickly and they needed to get going soon. He finished up and went back to the room to pack.
The two kids were splashing each other over the wall between them. Jin stopped and splashed herself, letting Mutt 'win' to end the game. She leaned on the wall and smiled, "I like you."
Mutt smiled back, "I like you, too."
She blushed a little, "I liked what you did last night."
The young fox looked at his lap, "I wanted to do what Billy did."
"You did?"
Mutt nodded.
"Why didn't you?
"You feel asleep."
"Oh" she was about to apologize, then smiled, "Want to do it now?"
Mutt brightened and looked up at her, nodding.
"Well, you have to get me ready like last night. I don't want it to hurt like the first time."
Mutt smiled and Jin stood up. She turned around and leaned on the other side of the sink, pressing her legs against the partition, so her slit was a couple inches above it and right in front of Mutt's nose. He licked his lips and took a deep sniff. This time he could smell her extra scent, faint, but there. He wasted no time and stuck his nose right in, quickly licking up her slit. She gasped and almost fell over, but pushed back and spread her legs for stability. Mutt took advantage of this and pushed his tongue inside, lapping hungrily at her delicious flavor. He recognized some of Billy's flavor, but ignored it and focused on hers. She chittered in delight and wrapped her tail around his shoulders. He pushed deeper, probing for the magic spot. She giggled in excitement and reached a paw back to rub his ear in encouragement. Her touch excited him more and he began rubbing his erection in anticipation. Suddenly, she squeaked and turned her knees in. Mutt smiled and lapped eagerly at her surge of flavor. She gasped and batted at his ear, "Okay, now, please."
Mutt grinned and stood up with his erection in his paw, ready to take her. He pointed it at her wet and ready opening.
Urgently, Billy ran into the kitchen from the front, "Hey guys, someone's in the alley; we've gotta go."
Jin ducked down into the sink in surprise. Mutt stood there with his red stiffy in his paw and a stunned look on his face for a second before he slipped and landed on his tail in the sink.
Billy quickly figured out what was happening and sighed, "Come on guys, shake off quick. We need to be invisible as soon as possible." He headed back to the storeroom to grab the bags.
Jin turned the water off and brushed water out of her fur with her paws, running her tail through them and giving herself a quick shake, before climbing out.
Mutt whined and waited for her to get away before he got up, braced himself on the sides of the sink and had a full shake, nose to tail, then followed to the storeroom.
Billy handed them their bags, keeping one of Jin's bags to carry himself, then led them cautiously to the office. After checking that it was empty, he hurried to the small window. It was boarded, but he could see between the boards. The guy was doing something in the back of his truck. Billy moved to the door and carefully opened it, beckoning the kids closer. Jin scurried to the desk, keeping her distance from the porcupine's quills, and Mutt followed closely behind with his erection still throbbing. When he bumped into her, she smiled back at him and rubbed her rump against his lap. He eagerly decided to take this opportunity as an invitation and pointed his stiffy at her. She watched and raised her tail. Then Billy disappeared out the door and the mouse quickly followed. Mutt whined, but chased after them. Billy hurried down the alley, away from the truck, then turned the corner and tried to look calm. He pulled Jin under his arm and she gladly clung to his side while they walked. Mutt caught up, but after a glance from Billy, tried to cover his front with his paws. Billy stopped and hung Jin's bag around the fox's neck, setting it in front to hide his issue. Mutt whined, but nodded a thank you.
"Now," Billy looked at Jin, "which way to take you home?"
Jin fidgeted, then pointed back the way they came.
"Alright, we go this way, then." Billy put his arm around the mouse and smiled at Mutt, then confidently headed in the direction she pointed. They walked a few blocks, then the buildings changed from mostly businesses to mostly homes.
Jinn started to walk slower and Billy stopped to look at her, "Are we close?"
She stopped and nodded, catching her tail in her paws.
"Maybe you should put some clothes on before we get there."
She fretted with her tail a bit, then looked up at him and nodded again. They moved off the sidewalk, beside some stairs. She opened her bag and found an outfit right on top where Billy had packed it for her. She smiled and slipped it on: a pale yellow top with a small pink flower near the shoulder and a dark blue skirt with yellow-green stripes on either side and a pink flower at the bottom to match the top. She buttoned the skirt around her tail, then twirled and Billy suggested that she not forget the panties. She giggled and slipped them on quick. She also dug out a pair of slips for her feet.
"Ready now?"
She remembered why she was getting dressed and drooped.
"I'm sure they'll be happy to see you."
"I guess, but what if they're mad?"
"They probably will be a little, but they care about you, don't they?"
"Yeah," she curled her tail around her wrist.
"And you care about them."
"Yeah."
"Then everything will turn out fine."
"But what about what we did last night?"
Billy blushed, "Well, they don't need to know about that, do they?"
"And poor Mutt didn't even get a turn," she looked at the fox, who stepped back, removing himself from the conversation. "Can you stay with me tonight?"
Billy cleared his throat nervously, glancing at Mutt, "That's not really our decision."
"If my dad says yes, will you?"
"We'll talk with him about it."
The young mouse bounced gleefully and and tugged at Billy's paw. They resumed their trek and at the other end of the next block, she stopped and looked up a set of stairs to a burgundy door.
Before anyone could say anything, a mouse opened the door, hurried down the stairs and scooped Jin off her feet, her bag falling to the ground. A female mouse came to the door behind him, telling someone on a phone that Jin was there and thank you. Then she looked over her daughter's unclothed companions with concern, "Ms Dudley saw you coming down the street and gave us a call. She was concerned that you were trying to lure my daughter away and said something about her not having any clothes. I can see one fact was wrong."
The father finally took notice of the two boys and moved up the stairs, "Perhaps we should go inside."
The mother moved aside to allow the father to carry Jin inside, then looked at Mutt and Billy, "Well, come on, then."
They looked at each other, then picked up Jin's bags and climbed the stairs.
Inside, Jin's father had sat her down and was kneeling in front of her, looking her over and asking if she was okay.
"I'm fine, Poppi. They took good care of me."
Her mother glared at them as they handed her Jin's bags, "So, how do you two fit into this?"
Billy took a breath to draw in some courage under her intense gaze, "We found her hiding in a bathroom. She was scared and told us she'd left home."
Her dad looked at her, "Why would you run away?"
Jin lifted her chin, "I didn't run away. I moved out, so you wouldn't have to spend so much money on me."
Billy interjected, "Apparently she had overheard you discussing how much some of her things cost and decided that you can't afford to keep her."
"Billy said I could stay if I gave up some things, so you don't have to buy me cookies for my lunch anymore." Her father hugged her tight.
Her mother seemed to ease a bit, "So you convinced her to come home." She examined their bare furred bodies, "Where are your clothes?"
"Well, clothes are heavy and expensive and so is washing them." Billy looked to Mutt, trying to not be alone in the spotlight, "We try to travel light."
"I see." She turned and walked out of the room.
"Jinsey, we're so glad you're home. You don't have to move out. We can make it work. We can even show you the numbers if it will make you feel better." Her father hugged her again.
Her mother came back and tossed a couple pairs of pants at Mutt, "You need to cover up while you're in my house."
He gave one pair to Billy and put his on. They didn't quite fit, but he was covered. The porcupine had considerably more trouble, but found an arrangement that they stayed up and pretended to cover the important parts.
"So, what are you, exactly?" She was looking Billy over with that intense stare again.
"Well, we pretty much do anything anybody needs us to..."
"No." She was beginning to sound irritated again, "What species are you?"
"I'm a porcupine."
"I haven't seen anything else like you. Where are your parents?"
Billy was getting annoyed with her cold attitude, "Dead."
"Hm. How old are you?"
"Sixteen, I think."
"You think?"
"Haven't had a birthday party in a while."
"Hm."
"Poppi, can Billy'n'Mutt stay here tonight?"
"I don't see why n..."
"No. I don't think so." Everyone looked at her mother for an explanation, but she stood firm, "I think it best if they moved on and now is better than later."
Her father stood up, "We can at least give them something for bringing our Jinsey home."
Billy was about to decline to avoid an argument.
"They can keep the pants."
"I think we can do better than that. I'll get some food." Now the father walked out of the room, leaving them in the uncomfortable gaze of his wife. Jinsey hurried over to grab her bag of food, grinned at Mutt and gave Billy a quick smile, then followed her father as fast as she could with the heavy bag.
Her mother watched them warily, "You do realize she's only eleven, right?
"Yes, ma'am."
"Hm."
Billy and Mutt tried to stay calm under her intense stare. Fortunately, Jin came running back and hugged Billy. She looked up at him with a gleeful expression, "I packed lots of good stuff for you." Then she leaned her head back and looked at Mutt upside down, "and I made sure there is some meat for you, too."
Her father came in carrying a bag
"What did you let her give them?"
"Its alright. We will be fine, but they need it more than we do."
"Hm," she walked out and sat in the next room, watching them from a distance.
Jin stepped back and her father handed Billy the bag of food and picked up her other bag from his feet.
On Jin's urging, Billy opened the bag and glanced inside, then smiled at her, "Thank you, it looks delicious." Then he looked at her father, "Thank you very much. We do appreciate your generosity."
He smiled back, "My Jinsey means the world to me. I just wish I could do more for you." A quick glance at the icy stare coming from the other room finished his sentence. "Perhaps its time to say goodbye," he walked up and shook Mutt's paw, then took Billy's, "Thank you for bringing my daughter safely back to me unharmed."
Billy smiled and shook his paw as Jin pounced on Mutt and clung to his neck, sticking her nose up to whisper in his ear, "I want you inside me like Billy, please come back for me."
Mutt was very glad that he was wearing pants, but she felt him poking her and giggled, then slid down to the floor.
She attached herself to Billy and held tight, "I don't want you to go."
He smiled and stroked her head, "I'll miss you, too. But we'll see each other again sometime, I'm sure. Just say hi when you see me."
"I will!" She squeezed him one more time, then stepped back and clung to her father.
"Thank you again for the food and pants," Billy opened the door and let Mutt out, then followed him down the stairs. He looked back to see Jin and her father waving to them from the doorway and her mother glaring from a window as they walked away.
"Do you think we'll really see her again?"
"She'll probably see my quills before we see her, but yeah."
"Do you think I could get my turn with her?"
"You mean you want to put your stiffy in her."
Mutt nodded.
"That would be up to her when we see her next."
"When do you think that will be?"
Billy laughed, "Probably next century when her mother lets her out of the house again."
Mutt looked shocked, "Really? I don't think I can wait that long."
The porcupine sighed, his fox friend still not grasping sarcasm and exaggeration, "She'll get out before that."
"For good behavior?"
"Yeah, for good behavior."
"Do we have to wear these pants till then?"
"Nah, we'll take them off when we stop next." Billy was trying to hold his up until he was sure to be out of sight of Jin's mom and her neighbor friends.
"Good, 'cause they're itchy."
"We'll just keep them in case we need them again."
"Oh, alright. Where are we going next?"
"We'll find out when we get there."
