Survival of the Fittest: Year One - Chapter 1: Captive
An Espeon Pokemorph named Lavender Evans wakes up from passing out at her high school graduation. Stripped bare, she finds herself imprisoned and at the mercy of a sinister human organization.
The low buzzing of fluorescent lights hummed over several rows of kennels as the various Pokemorph occupants within began to stir. Passed out in a cage towards the outer edge of the room lay a young, naked Espeon girl named Lavender Evans, her bifurcated tail twitching wearily as the individual tips awakened ahead of their master. Joining her tail, both the pinkie and ring fingers of her right hand contracted, dragging up and down against the coarse concrete before toppling her palm flat onto the floor. The remaining fingers trembled and extended, claws lightly scraping at the concrete for a few seconds before retreating into the Espeon's fist.
Lavender's lips parted, emitting muffled breaths and low groans into the smattering of unkempt black hair strewn about her head. Her left eyelid dragged open, vision blurred as she struggled with the right side, finding it pinned shut by her cheek as it smooshed into the kennel floor. Wobbling, the Espeon managed to prop herself up with her right arm, levering at her body until managing to roll onto her stomach. No longer dangling by her face, her left hand unclenched and began regaining its composure as it joined its twin in tandem, elevating the young girl several shaky inches. She hiccupped and collapsed forward, working bit by bit towards the gray blur before her. This short yet arduous journey finally ended as her forehead met a pair of iron bars, with a dull metallic clang.
Extending her arms to the sides, Lavender found several more bars, and her fingers wrapped around them, stroking upwards before her addled muscles could rise no further and crashed back to the cold floor. She lay there for several minutes longer, her forehead ruby grinding on one side against the iron as her head desperately attempted to support itself. Eventually, she regained enough strength to roll back onto her side, and then again onto her back, scooting her shoulder blades up the bars until she found herself in a seated position with her tail jutting out of the cell and into the empty hallway beyond.
Lavender's eyes drifted shut, vision too blurred to be of much use anyway, and her feline ears perked from their newly-elevated position, alerted to a plethora of grunts and groans echoing all around her. Suddenly aware that she was no longer alone in her predicament, her arms instinctively crossed her chest to conceal her bare breasts, and her knees clenched together, shakily sliding back until she could hug her limbs against herself in an upright fetal position. Her eyes opened once more to reveal her deep violet irises, but even squinting she could only see varying shades of gray blending together into an unrecognizable setting.
Her once calm breathing gave way to fevered panting as her claws dug into the flesh of her biceps, repeatedly tilling at the soft layer of violet fur. The rapid rise and fall of her chest elicited a jingle and she tucked her head down to discover a red leather collar with a metal tag. Releasing one arm, her right nipple popped free, the pink nub snuggling against the crook of her other arm, still tucked across her chest for some semblance of modesty. Her free claws hooked under the leather, tugging at the constraint from all angles until she felt as though it was sealing off her throat. She lifted the tag and squinted once more, aware of writing but only able to make out the final few characters: 7-196b.
As Lavender attempted to decipher the numbers' meaning, she jolted back to her situation as amidst the orchestral volley of feral noise, the Espeon began to recognize the rumblings of speech.
“Hello?"
“Where am I?"
“Hello? Who's there?"
“What's going on?"
“Where are we?"
“Help! Someone!"
“What's going on?"
“What the fuck is this?"
“Let me out!"
“Please, help me!"
“Lavender! Where are you?"
That last one was all too familiar, and Lavender responded in kind: “Nicole! Nicole it's me. I'm right here…I'm near you I think. I can't fucking see anything though."
“I can't either. My glasses…I can't find my glasses."
“Mine are gone too. Shit. Where are you?"
“I don't know…I'm in a cage and I don't know where I am. I'm scared, Lavender…"
Lavender rotated her body and pressed her face between the bars, her skin pulled taut as she pushed her muzzle beyond the confines of her kennel.
“Listen to me, Nikki. Okay? Just listen to my voice. Can you hear me?"
“Y-Yeah," Nicole wavered in response, “you sound really close."
“Okay. I'm gonna…I'm gonna look out of this…cell thing. Stick your arm out. I'm gonna see if I can see you."
“Can't you…can't you do it instead?"
“I can barely see my hand right now and it's like, it's my hand. I can barely see my own damn fur in all this gray without my glasses and you sure as shit won't be able to either. So I've gotta find you, Nikki. You stand out more."
Nicole's whimpering response sounded even closer, and moments later Lavender could make out a black blur extended just outside of her cage. Her own arm shot out and her shoulder banged against the iron as her fingers grasped at the blur, tightly squeezing at her sister. Another blur emerged and grabbed Lavender by the wrist, and both Evans sisters clutching awkwardly at one another from opposite sides of the same cell wall. Though tears welled up in the corners of the Espeon's eyes, she bit her lip to restrain the flow of emotion as Nicole's woeful sobs reached her ears.
As sharp rapping of metal on metal rang out and Nicole gasped, yanking her arms away from Lavender and vanishing from sight. Heavy footsteps clomped towards Lavender's kennel before a tall figure, a blurry mixture of pale skin and a dark green uniform, straddled the boundary between the two girls. He tapped an elongated baton between the bars of Nicole's cage three times, each motion generating a sharp clink, then repeated the process for Lavender before addressing the two girls.
“Hands to yourselves, ladies," a gruff voice commanded, “that's your only warning, you got that?"
“Wh-who are you?" Nicole quivered.
“Yeah!" Lavender expounded, “Who the fuck are you and where the fuck are we?"
“I asked you a question, girl. Do I need to repeat it for you?"
“Fuck you! What the fuck is going on here?"
Punctuating her response, Lavender swung her arm out through the bars, slashing at the man with her claws just barely nicking at his pant leg. Swiftly and silently, he brought the baton down, smashing into her elbow and forcing the Espeon's retreat as she cradled the injury. With her back turned, the man produced a small remote from his shirt pocket, and he fiddled with it for several seconds as though typing in some sort of code. The large, red button at the remote's forefront required no fiddling however, and as the man's thumb held it down, Lavender began to convulse as a wave of electricity rolled from her collar into the rest of her body. She thrashed and flailed against the concrete as her captor watched in morbid fascination, until her blurred vision faded to black, claimed once more by unconsciousness.
