-Winston Churchill
Chapter Seven: War of the Worlds, Part One
Death is the final chapter in a long written book, and a spoiler is that every single book will end with death. It is the one single thread that runs through human life, and no matter the differences that have fueled hate, racism and war in the past, all of them end in death.
Hate and Racism ending as the old ideas that prevailed in the past falling to natural selection and the old who saw it as natural giving way to the new that embrace peace and love. War ending often with a single final attack, capturing everything that might have been lost, or blowing it up with the power of the atom.
And once again Carson City had found itself facing another death, and looking forward to themselves they wondered if this could go on, if they could face the endless cycle of life and death. And all the while the Kagens and Riftwalkers looked on with no understanding of it, life without death.
“We as humans are perfectly flawed, and often our flaw finds its way into our deaths.”
Finn couldn’t pay attention to the priest as he sat down, a black suit covering his body and hiding his shame. This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen, looking over the hill behind he looked and saw the crowd that had gathered, everyone was interested. Looking down to the ground, Isaac rubbed his back and the two focused back on the coffin.
And then the recording of an orchestra started, through the speakers the sounds of violins crowding the chair filled event. Looking up, but still dressed in the same suit Finn, now had a smile on his face. Isaac was missing from the seat to the left. They all stood up and turned around as the cue began.
Ross dressed in a white suit and being led down by Isaac in a black suit, the shark and dragon smiling as they started to walk. Everyone turned towards them, all as a little southern facing wind blew through the covered theater. The music started and everyone watched as Ross smiled, this was the happiest day of his life.
The two of them walked forward and Finn at the top of the chairs, looked at them, he looked around, everyone was here. This wasn’t some kind of crazy wedding looked on by the press, this was supposed to be a low key event, shame that didn’t turn out as well.
Ross reached the top of the aisle and Isaac relinquished him to the priest and his fiancé. This time the one who joined them together was Barry, his body covered in metal, but that didn’t stop him from being the only person who would be able to legally marry the two.
Billy smiled as his lover reached the stage and took the single step up. They both turned towards Barry, his body covered in a thick layer of metal, and on top of it a pasta strainer covering his head. The pastafarian opened his book and like that the music track came to its end.
“We gather here on a special day, in which a peace has been brokered between the two races of immortals that join us here today.” Barry started his legal degree to marry the two being shown off to side hung on the wall. Still to any outside viewer the ministeroni being the most normal of all the gathered.
Finn just peered to the left and right as he grabbed Isaac’s hand, behind him were the Kagens. All of them dressed in their best suits, finally they dropped the battle armor and to his left was the Riftwalkers. In the front of the Riftwalkers, Iren sat down and next to her Michelle and Tidus.
He could see Basil and Bright sitting across from each other, this was the place of peace and marriage. A nice little theater in the desert, mostly used as a peyote den in the summer. Finn breathed and as Barry started, the two of them sat down and the ceremony started.
“And like that peace can find its way in this Earth if not for some other noodle manipulation then I think we can all find some peace in it.” Barry smiled at the two lovers and they looked over. Finn smiled, this was how it was supposed to be, this was the marriage arranged in the stars.
Looking over he saw the building where peace was found, a little the dinner hall outfitted where the treaty was signed in the morning. Of course that was just a media show, the real parts of the treaty were figured out a day before. Still it just all barely worked out so that both races could finally appear together.
Behind Barry was a large amphitheater, sinking into the ground and being for some kind of performance. To the right and adjoining the ceremony hall was the two floors of the main office. Looking over Iren smiled, and looked as if she was ready to pop open and let the little chestburster come out.
Looking back, Finn looked back and saw all the Kagens and Riftwalkers sitting down in peace. He saw everyone in peace, he think to himself that nothing could go wrong, but in the past that usually didn’t go so well.
“Now then of course, we gather here to celebrate love and the joining of two people in the celebration of life and love. These two started off so long ago, and their love has grown and it has had a massive effect on everyone that has surrounded you.” Barry read out as he looked at everyone, this was the peace they had looked for. Everyone had been so surprised when the invitation had been placed on their doors, and no one knew what to do.
…
“So then another adventure for another week, I think that we ought to stop doing this but there is something else. Two months away, Ross and Billy’s wedding and we are formally invited.” Isaac started the conversation as he walked into their bedroom and laid the formally printed invitation onto their coffee table. Finn looked up to him surprise flush on his face.
“Well I don’t think we can much escape from this, seems like this is going to be another obligation. But should be fun, should concede with the Kagens and the Riftwalkers finally deciding to sign the peace treaty. Do you think that we can combine two of those things?” Finn asked as he looked up, Isaac laid down and looked around as the two of them pondered that question.
“No, I don’t think that would ever work out, we’d have to be crazy to think that Ross and Billy would allow us to do that, much less Iren.” Isaac retorted as he laid down and then the darkness surrounded him. He looked over to Finn and he had that sad puppy dog look on his face, the one that a million ice ages and the one Finn fell in love with.
“Do you ever think that we haven’t been spending as much time with each other, look at those two and then look at us. I just feel like something is missing, something just hasn’t been clicking in the weeks before.” Isaac continued as he laid down in the bed and admitted his own shame.
“Same, I don’t know. With all the nanobot shit that is happening now, it just seems to be pushing us all apart as well. Who knows, I doubt it’s the end of the relationship but still at least we can acknowledge it.” Finn looked over to Isaac and groaned a bit, they stood silent for a few more seconds.
“Yeah I guess so, maybe we should do something. Like we should pledge to have a date night at a set time, but you know that kind of be blasted away by the threat of nanobots.” Isaac responded finally speaking up and both of them paused as they took that thought and knew how quickly that would hold up.
“Well maybe we should do something whenever we can, try to go on missions together and hang out by ourselves afterwards.” Finn added, both of them looked up to the ceiling, it was nice, the tiled ceiling was stagnant and never changed, it was constant. They breathed for a few second and then they realized they were getting nowhere.
“Yeah we should do that, let’s show the nanobots, and the Kagens, Riftwalkers and immortals that we can be in a healthy relationship without them interfering because you know what, we’re the Outsiders and we don’t need to take their shit, so they can shove it.” Isaac yelled out barely keeping his quiet as he rolled over and grabbed onto to Finn, rubbing his head into the shark’s shoulder he kissed him in the neck and the two were encompassed with what love they had.
…
“Now then let’s get this straight.” General Maverick stated as he looked down with a glare of disappointment towards Michelle and Tidus, both of them siting down for their unbiased betrayal against him. He smiled and giggled when he saw that he still had the same effect on them, human or shark otherwise. They looked forward and then down to the ground.
“So you want to go to the bastard wedding of shotguns of two Outsiders, not only do that, but during a time where you could be publicly photographed with the Outsiders and ruin my reputation?” Maverick asked as he looked down at what he saw as two shameless examples before him. He scowled at them in shame. “I threated you like my own, I gave you this military base and an army and now you want to throw that all away?”
“Oh do not play that game old man, we have both seen what you have done, and if you are so worried about us ruining your reputation then why don’t you come with us and make sure that we don’t do anything shitting on you?” Michelle sarcastically relayed as she stood up and faced Maverick, despite being only human, she still trumped the older man.
“I will have your head if you go, after all we have done. This is an act of betrayal and will not stand. Do you want to give the soldiers the idea that it is good to defeat, you cannot play this game. We cannot risk to play this game.” Maverick commented as he pointed his hand out and pointed out the door.
“Yeah no, game not being played.” Michelle grappled onto the arm of her general and pulled him in twisting him around and then placing her hand on top of his head. They both were very aware of what she could do with that, and thus finally he shut up. “Now then if you would like to stop, then maybe it would interest your pudding filled brain that I intend to keep the peace between the Kagens and the Riftwalkers.”
“What they have done that!” General Maverick expressed, more surprised at that then Michelle’s outburst. Michelle kept her grip on him tight, she needed to or else he might escape and spout something racist.
“Now only that but they are signing a treaty as well, I figured if anything shifty happened the Outsiders would do nothing. But I might stop if, saving up my energy for a machine gun and then blasting them to oblivion if anything were to happen.” Michelle explained as she loosened her grip and then the general slipped out, he took a breath and stumbled on the floor as he walked forward.
“So then, now on my terms, me and Tidus are going to go to the wedding and we will protect the peace, enjoy the wedding and dance at the reception. You are invited despite Iren’s worst wishes, but I do think that having you stay back means that I can get a gunship on command if does fly too south.” Michelle put down her hands and looked at the air blushed general.
“Fine then do whatever the hell you damn kids want to, but know I am against this, but I will have a gunship on stand by and I hope you can at least have some fun.” General Maverick scowled in defeat as he walked out the room and left a shocked Tidus and Michelle alone, Michelle smiled and looked at Tidus as she walked over and held his hands.
“This is awesome; I can’t believe that worked. I tricked him and you saw the part where I CQC’d him right?” Michelle excitedly said as she looked at Tidus and realized that something was right with him. “Oh you afraid that the Outsiders are going to reject you, don’t worry I still play jenga with Finn and Isaac on Saturday nights sometimes.”
“Jenga?” Tidus responded with a strange look on his face.
“Yes, however Isaac does cheat and makes it so that the pieces are so light that he can float them out of it, but no one really cares it for fun and games, now then I wondering about something.” Michelle pondered as she turned towards the door.
“Please don’t say it…” Tidus mentally thought as his face was filled with horrible ideas, and then he realized she was going to say it.
“Matching camo suit and dresses!” Michelle excitedly jumped up and down as she grabbed his hands and pulled him out the door and all Tidus could think about was shit.
…
“And while some of us have come from different walks of life and different paths, some like men and other women. Some we still don’t know and some are just a bit icky, we still learn love and compassion as the best way to live our lives on this plane of existence, guided by his appendage.” Barry read out as the audience laughed a bit.
“Still, for all we have done and all we have seen it will never be enough, we have to deal with those people and make sure they get comfy rooms.”
…
Iren sat nervously in her seat, sitting next to Earl. From the way it looked three people had the braveness to wear camo to the wedding. She smiled at him and he smiled back. She looked back up and then down to her baby, who was threatening to burst out of her nicely put together dress.
…
Still for her it was worse, for two months ago when she got the text and then got the text asking for her to the be the maid of honor, she was somehow filled with both hope and horror at the same time. She looked down to the text and like that everything was gone, she realized what she had done.
“I’m the uptight bitch who has to organize the wedding!” Iren yelled as she looked down at the text and like that she was sent out like a bat from hell. She was going to show Ross what he meant to her if that was all she meant to him. And then there were a few stops along the way.
And like that she ended up on top of a police car in the middle of an alley way, laying on it, tears flowed down to the window as she gripped her seventh cup of frozen yogurt and scooped it into her mouth. Swallowing again, she felt her stomach rubble or her baby push against it in disapproval, possibly both.
“Oh god fro-yo, how are you the only one who can fix my pain. It seems everyone else just wants to hurt me inside and outside?” Iren asked the world as the world decided to scream fuck back. As the clouds opened up, Iren let the tears join the water works.
“Crying on top of cop car with six cups of yogurt spilled on it and looking like a complete mess, why is the world just shitting on me?” Iren asked and yelled as thunder stuck down around the city. She looked down to her stomach and saw her shirt just barely tucked over her stomach. And then a bit more of white fell from the sky and landed on the adjacent dumpster as birds flew overhead.
“Well at least the universe has the decency to not shit completely on my day, god Ross why do you have to do this?” Iren groaned as she slid off the top of the police car and landed on the alley floor, her feet cramped as she landed and her shoes felt tight as fuck. And then walking out even better she saw Earl.
“You know I’m just going to assume that you’re in some sort of emotional trouble and maybe I should just give you my number for speed dial in case.” Earl walked forward and Iren groaned, now someone had seen her.
“Ross and Billy are getting married, and I am the maid of honor, why would he threat me like that?” Iren asked and then Earl opened his eyes, the lizard put his hands on the sticky back of the tiger and started to walk forward, it was time for her to learn about this thing called the world.
“Well I don’t think that is the problem, but keep in mind you are the only female he really knows, but that isn’t what bothering you is it. It’s that he is getting married and you are now afraid he won’t let you mother him but let me remind you when god closes one door he opens another and that one is the baby.” Earl explained in his drawl as they walked forward.
“Earl if I knew what gender my baby was then I’d name it after you but instead you can come to the wedding.” Iren stopped crying and the two of them stepped into a shaded spot as she smiled at her.
“Oh good then I can get out my camo suit.” Earl excited responded, Iren laughed and then she realized he wasn’t kidding and then the dread kicked in.
…
“Are you sure this is safe?” Walking down the dark alley out of the opera theater might not have been a good idea, but seemingly convinced of it, Alton Thompson thought it would be the quickest route to a cab. His draconic hands held onto a tiny child as they walked forward and instantly his wife felt chills go down her back.
“No ma’am, but if you’d have the kindness to remove the money and valuables from your purse then you might just survive this.” Shoving a gun against the neck of the lady, the robber dressed in black smiled with a clear grin on his face. And then like that Alton froze up.
“Please don’t do that, Eliza just give him the money.” Alton begged as he found that all the money in the world suddenly wouldn’t be worth the idea that his wife would be safe. He saw the gun and he saw it all, he didn’t want to die, he gripped a hold of his son’s hand and held on tight.
“Ok, sir here you go.” She turned and then like that his finger slipped, a gunshot blasted out and like that the dragoness fell to the ground, Alton watched as seemingly in slow motion his beloved fell to the ground, the Latin chorus sung a sad tune for him which would have lasted longer if not for…
“Shit got to run!” The would be robber screamed as he turned his gun and fired another shot, reaching down, he grabbed the purse out of the dying dragoness’s hands and pried it away. And then he turned around intending to reunite the three dragons in heaven, he pulled the shot and then he fell the ground.
As the shot struck through his neck and ripped open his neck and spilled more blood on the ground, the guy got a last second to look back at the dragon. As he hit the ground, he saw the dragon standing there his body reflecting the entire alleyway.
“Son, I’m sorry, please don’t forget me… Ross.” And then sliding down to the ground, Alton Thompson closed his eyes as he laid a few inches above the ground, his son’s metallic grip keeping him latched even as a wind blew through the alley.
And he stood there as a statue, frozen in time for half a night, as police came they told stories that it took three police cars and industrial chains to move him from place and even then his metal didn’t bulge. Dragged off to the police station they placed in him the brig for safe keeping as they waited for something.
The doctors said his powers might keep him locked up for weeks or months even, as they detected the rumbling of a heart beat bouncing off the metal inside his chest. He was alive but trapped almost frozen inside a prison of his own creation, no one could touch him on the outside but inside he was trapped.
And then four months later a little taller, a little older, a little less heartbroken the dragon finally awoken from his slumber. The metal slid off his horns as it shed itself off, it slid down his body and a cocoon of pure titanium metal formed around his body.
Ross pushed himself out of the metal casing and then crawling onto the ground, the eight-year-old landed on the ground and looked back to see the shape of his body immortalized in metal. It was like some sort of advanced art work that no one could understand, his legs at the bottom and at the top his metallic shell spilt out into multiple forms.
The broken shell just barely had the appearance of the dragon, and backing up he touched the wall of the prison, when he found that, the uproar from the prisoners finally got a police offer to him and Ross had escaped from his shell of a body. And then he was taken to the cafeteria, he sat down and looked at the food presented to him, a chocolate cake.
“So then, I didn’t think you’d be hungry and I don’t think you’ll talk much to me, but do you know what happened to your parents.” A police officer, a lion dressed in blue with the badge and with the uniform and gun said as he watched the poor kid. Ross just nodded and went back to sadly prodding his cake with the plastic fork.
“Well then some other things then, you are an Outsider. You don’t know what that means but you are a freak of nature. Your little metal trick, it got the attention of the government and now you are in an ORION household, someone will take care of you until you can and you will be trained in your powers.” The officer looked forward and watched as Ross stabbed his fork into the cake and then took a piece of it and placed it into his mouth.
“Well then at least you have your appetite back, must be hungry after four months in the metal casing.” The officer commented as he watched Ross take the fork out of his mouth and then placed it down. For whatever reason he missed and then the plastic entered his hand. The dragon yelled in pain as he grabbed his hand.
And then suddenly the darkness of the room was blasted back as a layer of metal reflected back the light. It appeared on Ross’s hand and the dragon looked in fear as it started to climb up his arm. He looked in fear as he grabbed on to his shoulder and then closed his eyes, and like that he started to will his powers away. The metal was shed away and the plastic fork was placed back on the table.
“Well then looks like you’ve already getting control, so then any questions?”
“Sure, what’s your name sir?”
“Well I’m officer Maverick.”
…
And control he did not; the first time he attempted to purposely use his powers he stood frozen for another week. But as he trained he got better, it became a timed power, sixty seconds for six months and then as he was controlling a break out at a bank, he gained control over it completely. He could stay frozen as long as he wanted.
And like that the next part of his powers was control over his body, he might have been a tank but being a tank and not being able to move put him between the real tank and a chest high wall on the scale of usefulness. Still it was better than nothing and slowly he started to gain that as well.
Steps came slow, he started to fracture through the layer of metal and push himself forward, with cracked metal he could carry himself at about a step every five seconds. Which meant he was a slow tank that had weakness a plenty around the vital joints, one shot to his leg would take that out quickly.
And the idea of where he could go to next came in the strangest of places, while Isaac and Finn were having fun chatting up questionably dressed looking men, Ross and Billy were having man’s fun at his bachelor party. Through the magic of what he could only presume were perception filters, she convinced the man running the place to let then have the place for the night. Ross’s party in one room and Billy’s in the other.
Ross watched as the snake did a bit of a move on the striper pole in front of him, wrapping his neck around it and then uncoiling his body around that, it gave the nicest show of ass, with the low lighting and the subtle music, Ross thought he was having a nice night, but the loud noises and banging against the wall could only give him ideas of what happened on the other side.
“So then I think using my nanobots I can give you the ultimate control over your abilities, the ability to turn in between your metal form with ultimate power for you. Liquid metal, nanobots can change the metal and your power so that you can control yourself as this liquid.” Barry offered, Ross looked over and was still surprised at the form.
Almost like an encounter suit, Barry had a large layer of metal placed over his body, the energy lines and the person were still inside, Barry was just surrounded with a layer of metallic protection. His head was covered in it, and it was almost helmet like, his eyes covered in glowing red scanners and his horns covered in gloss.
“That doesn’t sound safe at all, we just fixed you, are you sure that we want to go around fucking around with that again.” Ross stood up as he looked Barry in the eye, taking the high road. Iren gasped and put her hand on her stomach. She disappeared behind a door presumably to Billy’s party.
“Well I seem to be working fine if you haven’t noticed, a good work in from me to Isaac and he could have this working for your honeymoon.” Barry rolled his eyes and leaned back in the seat. Ross looked over to him and then suddenly it him, standing up he looked worried as he turned.
“Well at least your personality is intact but I kind of forgot to set up a honeymoon and while I think Billy might be fine with a staycation, he might need a bit of convincing on the other part of the wedding that is a bit of a surprise.” Ross worryingly rushed over towards the door and opened it his eyes opened as he peered through the hole and seemingly into a different universe.
…
“So remember that spot where are wedding is being held, well just so you know the Kagen-Riftwalker peace ceremony is being set their as well.” Ross admitted as he looked to the blue dragon, obviously Billy quickly figured out what was happening but the fake confused nod sold it. “And it just so happens the ceremony is happening before and continuing into the wedding.”
“Well at least you didn’t spring this the morning off, but are you sure of this happening without them attacking or some sort of backstabbing between them, and you’ve invited them to our ceremony as well without considering that as well too.” Billy asked and then pulled the curtains up, Ross’s glass house had been revealed. Looking at the dragon he pondered what kind of worry or horror was going through his head and then the awkward silence meter started up.
Ross stared past Billy, all the while looking through the pink room with the music blasting and everyone parting and instead to the future. Would the Riftwalkers or the Kagens backstab everybody, was everyone being put to massive risk by this wedding. His mind started to rush as the music became nothing to him.
“Oh, well look at that. Once again I managed to blow your mind, awesome, but all in all still do consider this. I trust you, if you want to do this, you already have Barry as the priest, this wedding can only get more awesome as weirder as you get it, just don’t endanger the whole of your team.” Billy kissed Bill on the nose and giggled a bit seeing the dragon blush up. “Now come on get back to your party, I’m sure that it’s as awesome as mine.”
Ross smiled and waved goodbye as he pretended to look excited as Billy and the stripper playing a game of poker, he disappeared behind the door and knew this would at least be better than he expected.
…
“So then we have gathered here today to celebrate the signing of the peace treaty and I have gathered here to give you a little speech that me and my team have put together to celebrate this occasion.” Finn grabbed a piece of paper from Isaac’s hand and grabbed it, holding it in his hands as he looked out over the crowd of press who looked a bit more preoccupied with the treaty.
“These are the voyages of the starship Earth, her mission to explore the unknown in an infinite expanse of time and space, to boldly go where no one has gone before. And on this ship are the humans and furs, all living in harmony. All of us explores to a universe. And I would like to comment on the amount of time it took to find this peace. Life a gazelle grazing we have found ourselves with unlimited resources and peace unhinged by war.” Finn started to read of the paper, as the cameras turned towards him and tiny flashes engulfing his face.
“This is our entire universe and I would not like to see her destroyed as it seems for the next eon or so this is the starship we have and I would like to remain one of her crew members. So please respect our place on this planet, had we had another one to give up we would gladly do so, but this is our ship and I believe in the faith of the heart that we can find a place of peace together all on this green ball, and today we can cement it in today!” Finn yelled as he finished, raising his hand in the air and flashing the symbol of peace, if only he knew how many papers wouldn’t have that as the front page.
“I got strength in the soul, and I can reach any star. We are mortal and it’s been a long road getting from here to there, it’s been a long time but our time is finally here and I can feel a change in the wind… Peace for humanity and immortals has come here, no one can stop our races from advancing!” Finn put the paper down and smiled all the camera, they took one last good shot of him. And then walking away from the podium and off the stage through the set up dining hall.
While all the chairs might have been facing towards the podium the action was towards the corner where the leaders of the immortals sat. While they put on their fake smiles, Finn could tell how much they wanted to just jump up and get a front page newspaper filled with gore, his job was too end that. And walking over, he grabbed the treaty and placed it in front of both.
“Now then onto the reason we are all here, High Bother Ignatius and High General Octavius both of you sit here because you believe that both of your races will be better by signing this. By signing such, you agree to a set of terms and conditions that include not building a super weapon, not killing any of the other race, living in peace on all Earths and not continuing this war, if you accept then you may sign at the bottom of the treaty.” Finn continued his show for the press, looking behind the cameras he saw Isaac and Iren, in their wedding apparel giving him thumbs up, Ross and Billy were probably already getting ready and the show was getting on the road.
Finn made sure that at all costs he was going to be the only speaker, if the Kagen or Riftwalker leaders showed any sort of resentment or sign they weren’t happy with the treaty then that might as well have been the end of it. Reigned to be a little more than a fruitless thought. Continuing Finn watched as first Ignatius grabbed the ink covered quill and signed his name on the paper, he smiled and handed the quill over to Octavius, the Kagen smiled and then signed his name as well.
The crowd clapped and the Treaty of Nova Prime was signed, this was how Finn was to be remembered, the bringer of peace, the ender of war and now both groups finally were at peace. He had done it on his own and he had managed to do so. He used his bargaining chips to push a place onto the Kagens and the Riftwalkers and they were played like a goddam fiddle, the good kind. And then smiling as he looked around, Finn looked at the clapping crowd and smiling.
“Play nice boys.” Whispering in Octavius’s ear, Finn walked away from the treaty signing and knew that it was finally time to suit up. It was time for him to get ready for the wedding of the century as well as the Kagens and Riftwalkers, the press would quickly abandon the theater and Finn as well as two hundred of his closest friends would be alone for the wedding.
“Now then in all peace and love and harmony of the world surrounding you I now decree you to be married, you may kiss.” Barry smiled as he closed the book and backed up, Billy grabbed onto Ross and pulled him in the couple kissing as once again the speakers started to spew up the soundtrack again.
Ross looked over, he couldn’t say it but he could everyone he loved and held dear, Iren, Finn, Isaac, even Michelle and Tidus for the hell of it. They were all here and they were all celebrating, all of them standing up and clapping and then like that it was all perfect.
And like most it only lasted for a pure second, out of the corner of his eye Ross spotted a massive group of shadows in the desert and then a flash. He froze up into metal, turning his back towards the flash. And then it stuck, a massive icicle hitting of his back and landing on the ground, sliding along the aisle as everyone turned towards it.
“Shit. I didn’t think of one thing, the one fraction that was left out, there’s going to be a battle, get anyone who can’t defend themselves out of here.” Finn whispered as he watched Ross shed the metal on his back. Looking back, a massive army appeared, standing above the dune and then they started to run.
Finn looked back, it was a massive horde of nanobots. All of them being led by two people, them comfortable ahead of the running group and then like that they realized themselves and stood close enough that Finn could see them. Frostbite and Flashpoint, standing there in the flesh.
“I’m sorry but it seems that you’ve forgotten to invite someone to this little celebration of yours, but we’re going to have to put a little sword through that idea, because right now there is a nanobot army running towards you and they seem quite hungry for blood!” Flashpoint yelled out to them as he spread out his arms and looked behind himself, maybe four or five minutes to prepare.
“You wouldn’t do this, not today. You will not interrupt our peace, you won’t do this and you will run away now or be defeated by a combined army again!” Finn threatened as he stood up and looked at the two, the smiles on their faces told him all he needed to know on what they were willing to do.
“Move out of the way Finn, this’s our turn.” Michelle said as she walked over and pushed him out of her way. Putting her hand forward a gripping something invisible, something started to form in her hands. A metal body and a large six pronged barrel that started to spin as he grasped the trigger.
And then it started to fire, Michelle smiled as the mini-gun started to blast out tens of bullets a second. They flew past the two nano-leaders and into the crowd of nano-goons. Michelle smiled as she watched some of the bodies fall over into the sand and then some of the remaining nanobots put their hands together as they approached, the sun shining off their metallic hands.
“What?” Michelle watched as suddenly a massive fireball blasted towards her, she put her foot down and fired into the sphere as she held on to the minigun for dear life. Blasting chunks of energy, she stood resistant against the blast as it stood in the middle between them. “Damn right, let’s see you do that Finn!”
And then the bullets fell, like that the energy ball ignored the bullets and started to speed towards them. Michelle watched as the ball sped forward, it appearing in her eyes and blinding her to the reality of the situation. She took her finger off the trigger and looked forward.
“Get down!” Tidus being the only smart one, pushed Michelle down to the ground and then the energy ball sped past them and through the theater hall. Every watched as it sped by past Ross and into the air. Ross grabbed onto Billy, and looked around they needed a place to shelter.
“Everyone get behind something, waist high wall or nothing!” Finn yelled as he ran over to the edge of the theater and took cover behind one of the pillars. With his hands in the air, he fired a few blasts of electricity into the desert. The nanobots started to return fire, bullets and energy blasts starting to cascade through the theater as the occupants started to vacate. Running behind Michelle and Isaac, he looked at them.
“We can’t hold this position long!” Yelling over the screams of bullets above him, Finn stood over the chest high wall and let out a few blasts of electricity. All the while, Tidus stood behind a pole and did so as well. Michelle stood up and Isaac covered her, bullets and energy blasts flying off in all sorts of directions.
“I know; we need to go inside with the Riftwalkers!” Tidus yelled as he pointed over towards the office building. Nearly all the Riftwalkers had split into that building while the Kagens went into the dining hall. Tidus ducked behind the wall and threw himself into the door, running inside and calling for them. “Come on, you can make it.”
Isaac threw himself in, ducking and sliding into the door. Michelle stood up again and started to fire again, a few more nanobots fell but they would stand up again soon enough. Michelle kept on firing and firing and Finn threw a few more blasts, it seemed to be doing nothing.

“Come on guys we need to take shelter!” Ross grabbed Billy and Barry and looking at them, he knew there was only one route to go. He threw them over the tiny wall and into the amphitheater. They fell with a few grunts and screams as Ross grabbed onto Billy and they fell down into the clay ground hole. Landing Ross looked down at Billy and saw he was stuck with a bullet.
“Sorry about this, ok let’s get this bleeding under control.” Ross commanded to Barry as quickly they started to cover the wound with pressure. Barry looked over and he had that look on his face, his eye was scanning and the look he gave didn’t seem to not be a good one

Basil looked as the rest of his team, the Riftwalkers were abandoning the battle and heading inside the officer for shelter. The fused Riftwalker decided to do something and grabbing he sword he threw it forward, catching Finn’s attention as it flew past, putting his hand forward Basil saw as it touched the sand in front of the nanobots.
Grabbing his sword again, Basil slashed it again and this time through a single nanobot it slashed. The nanomachines crashed on the ground and as the nanobots surrounded him, Basil could start to see how surrounded they were, he could see maybe two hundred nanobots just in the nearby vicinity.
Looking and throwing his sword, Basil suddenly found himself being grabbed by the nanobots and turning around, he threw them off him with energy blasts, grabbing Soulbearer, he blasted them off his body. Basil backed up and he felt the sword strike the balcony of the officer.

“Michelle be careful we need to get inside!” Finn yelled as saw the army advancing quicker and quicker. They would be there within a second and as he saw Bright enter the building he knew they were alone outside. Yet she continued to fire, ducking behind the wall with her gun as it cooled off.
“I can do this on my own, go inside if you can’t hand the heat!” Michelle yelled as she looked over her shoulder and wasn’t discouraged by it all. Yelling as she fired into the nanotroopers, Finn stood up and looked at her, she was determined on firing at them.
“Come on, but you fight if you want to, I respect you for that.” Finn stated as Michelle ducked down, three energy strikes flying over their head and then she nodded, waving her hand towards the door. She clicked down on the minigun trigger as it started to slow down, she fell to the ground as her energy was drained and looking back,
Michelle stood up and started to fire again. And then suddenly like that she was hit, Finn watched as she fell to the ground, the advancing army striking her and then suddenly she was stuck. Her body started to burn and she hit the ground, Finn watched as the minigun fell to the ground and nothing of it was left. Michelle hit the ground and looking forward, he grabbed her and ran towards the office as he pulled her in.
“Don’t worry Michelle, I’ve got you don’t die on me, we can still save you and you’ll be fine.” Finn assured her as he pulled her with him and into the office, he closed the door and looked on the advancing army. He looked at everyone and they all turned towards Michelle.

Bright stood up and fired into the crowd and he continued to fire, throwing blasts of energy over the wall. He needed to take some kind of better shelter everyone else was but he needed to as well. And then suddenly he felt struck, a nanobot got him in the chest.
And then like that Bright fell back, grabbing his chest, he felt his two hearts stop beating. Moving back as energy was drained from him, the Kagen was knocked against the wall and he felt a door. It open and his body fell, he wasn’t in the dining hall, he was in the kitchen. Blood spilled out of his back and onto the nice floor.
“Oh god I think it’s my first time again.” Bright gasped his heart and felt it stop, the orange energy appearing on his hands. Looking up suddenly he saw a shark appear, it was someone from his past. Looking forward Koji appeared and smiled as the orange glow surrounded his face.
“Don’t worry where the future and past meet the present will be saved.” Koji leaned down and put his hand onto Bright’s face, closing his eyes and letting the death and rebirth of regeneration start.
