Heart of the Forest ~ Chapter 3
The lynx lingered out after the sun had dropped below the horizon and enshrouded the forest in the pleasantly warm cloak of night, but once the other hunters departed he was left alone among the trees and cicadas.

Once he had enough fish, he collected his finds from the day and hurried back home, disappearing into the deepening dusk and the heavy din of cicada song. the small shack he called home sat quiet and unassuming in the darkness.

Only crickets and cicadas filled the air with their usual songs. it wasn't annoying, it just took a few moments before your ears would get used to it, to then keep company to the ones who braved the night. along with the stars.
