Chapter 6 - Longrsbear

A few days had passed since we had left our home in Ivarswinter, we walked a lot during the day, and at night we camped and rested, Kamui set up the tent and we cooked on the fire, the sadness of leaving our home overwhelmed me, Kamui felt it, because he was always patient with me, we didn't talk much, but he felt it too, I knew, we didn't need to communicate all the time. This was something I admired about him and our relationship, we enjoyed each other's company, but I didn't always feel obligated to say anything, because we knew each other's feelings and respected each other, I knew he was suffering, just as I was suffering too. But he was the only person in whose company I didn't feel drained, tired or obligated to do anything, it was easy to be with him, and our company was complete with each other, just by exchanging glances, I already knew what he wanted to say, and everything was fine.

The night was rainy in the middle of the forest, while eating a soup to warm our bodies from the cold and rain, we sat next to the fire, one next to the other. Then, at that moment, I broke the silence.

• Kamui.

• Yes?

• Why are they after me? What has my race done to yours? What do they want from me, anyway?

• My dear, it turns out that there has always been this thin veil between our worlds, and our boss, Lionel, lived between your world, a long time ago. Something very bad happened to him, the trauma and hatred was so great that he swore he would separate our worlds forever.

• And what do I have to do with it? Okay, I'm a human, but I'm not the same one who did what he did to him.

• There is a prophecy that says, that during the night of the blood moon if human blood is spilled, the portals will close forever.

Kamui lay on top of me with his massive and strong body. I grabbed his shoulders and caressed his face, while I wrapped my legs around his thick and soft thighs. Kamui settled himself on my body and rubbed himself against me.

He whispered in my ear in his deep, thick voice.

I lifted my head to admire the Beast man and looked into his hazel eyes.

• I never disbelieved you, Kamui, not for a second. But can I ask you a question?

• Why did you leave your home if you loved it so much?

He then sighed and settled down to count.

• A long time ago there was a war, my region was still populated, my family lived in Longrsbear, but there was nothing we could do, so we moved to the city, soon after my parents passed away and I returned to bury them at home. I could not bear the pain of staying in Longrsbear alone so I moved to the city and left my home behind.

• I'm sorry about your parents, they must have been wonderful people.

• It's okay, they were.

• But is it okay to go back to a place that causes you so much pain?

Kamui touched my nose and caressed my face.

• But I'm not alone anymore, I have you, my little bunny, and the best memories of my life were in Longrsbear, if she's still there, it will be once again, and this time, with you by my side.

I hugged him tightly and fell asleep on his warm, comfortable chest. We walked in the sun and rain for days, crossing rivers and around lakes, climbing small hills and turning in and out of empty, deserted roads. Our journey was exhausting, the golden autumn forest was behind us. We reached a road on the slopes of a mountain range after crossing a river. The animals were tired, both the horses and our cow were giving up. At a certain point on the road Kamui stopped.

• We're almost there, let me just look at my map.

He analyzed and looked at the surroundings.

• I know, let's go this way.

We turned off the road and climbed through the tall, evergreen pine forest above, heading towards the mountain range. After passing through what appeared to be a short winding dirt road, I spotted something.

It was a wall made of wooden stakes that stood on the mountainside, hidden behind trees and bushes that were barely noticeable. The wall extended for some distance.

• Kamui, this is…

• Yes, behind that fort is Longrsbear, our home.
