I woke up and found the girls leaning over me. I sighed and said "Decide whose next?" They nodded and Calley grumbled under her breath then sat down on Gabe's bed. I looked at her and said "Shouldn't you change back into a mightyena?" She nodded and shifted back into a wolf. I glanced down at the floor expecting to see the fur underwear I'd stripped off her, but they were gone. I shook my head confused then decided it didn't matter as Silver tackled me and said "My turn. Crysta lost three times before finally agreeing, but I wouldn't have any of it. Then Calley tried saying her turn wasn't long enough, but we both got that idea out of her head." I blinked and said "Speaking of Calley, why can't she talk like a human when you two can?" Crysta sighed and said "Calley doesn't have the background Silver and I do. She's learning, but she won't tell us why she's so interested in human language now."

Silver smirked and said "Being a princess Crysta's had to go on a lot of diplomatic missions so learning your language was imperative for her jobs. In my case, well that's personal." I laughed at that which gave her the perfect opportunity to kiss me and slip her tongue into my mouth. I blinked in surprise then wrapped my arms around her and gave into the feelings she was causing. I heard Crysta say "Lucky vixen." After a few minutes we stopped and I asked "How'd you three become humanoids?" Silver sighed realizing I wasn't going to continue until she answered my question then said "I learned from a fox spirit, then taught Calley and Crysta." I raised an eyebrow basically saying 'A fox spirit, really?'. She nodded and said "Yes a fox spirit. She was a friend of my father and he asked her to teach me. Afterward she told me that the time of magic was coming, and it would start with the destruction of the first great evil." I blinked and said "Wonder what that is." She shrugged then raised an eyebrow as if asking 'Are you done questioning me and can we play now?'

I nodded in answer to her question then reached around her and pulled off her shirt. She smiled slightly and kissed me when I got it off then said "So you're finally ready to play?" I nodded and she pushed me onto my back then sit on my chest and started to unclasp her bra as her hair fell around her face and shoulder's obscuring one of her eyes. I smiled as she studied me then yelped as she raked her claws down my chest and tore my boxers up. I stared at her and asked "Was that really necessary?" I smirked and said "Good." then slowly stroked her wings causing her to growl in pleasure. I memorized the spots on the wings that seemed to be more sensitive as I slowly ran my hands down her back and I let my tail rub up and down the inside of her thighs. She raised an eyebrow despite the fact she enjoyed the feel of my tail's heat gone along her legs then let out a roar of surprise as I bit down on her neck breaking through the skin and leaving deep marks that would probably be slow to heal. I couldn't' figure out why, but biting them just felt right. It was the same with drinking a little bit of their blood before doing anything else. She shivered and said "Have you bitten anyone else besides Calley, Silver, and me?" I shook my head and she said "Been with anyone else?" I nodded thinking back then said "I don't think the animal in me was this strong at the time though." She nodded in understanding then spread her legs slightly and twisted around putting her tail out of the way and offering herself. I wondered why she was shivering, then decided it was probably my imagination. I slowly lined my shaft up to her sex and prepared to enter her in one quick thrust. I nodded and stretched out then said "So when are we done." She looked at her watch and said "It is one p.m. now. So, you're stuck with me until seven o' clock. Is that alright?" I thought about it then nodded and yawned. She looked at me and said "You should have slept, instead of doing whatever you did." I resisted the urge to flip her off and said softly "How's Flame?" She looked at me confused and I said "The white tiger anthro who Nevyn brought in. His real name is Mac, but those of us who know him as a good friend call him Flame."

She thought about it for a while then said "He's fine. They took him to the emergency room and patched him up. He left a little while ago, however shortly afterward the defense force came in. You wouldn't know why they were looking for someone who'd signed up to join them yesterday, would you?" I shrugged and said "I was looking for a job. However they never got back to me, so I'm not sure what to say about them looking for someone." She looked at me closely and said "Did you check your scanner to see if they sent a reply?" I scratched the back of my neck feeling a little awkward then said "Well...um...I don't exactly....know....how to retrieve mail off my scanner." She stared at me thinking it was a joke then saw how serious I was and said "I thought you knew everything about your scanner." I shook my head slowly and said "I don't know everything about the programs. I just know how to modify the body of it from my little experiment, and how to make slight changes to the programming that allow me to access the different versions. Despite what I know, I still can't figure out how to make the pokedex work properly." She sighed softly and grabbed my arm then tapped a few keys on my scanner and a holo view came up with a huge bar across the top of it saying Help. I blinked and stared at it then said softly "Gods forsake me for a fool."

I tapped the controls a few times then my scanner beeped and said "Voice command activated." Lady Shandi raised an eyebrow at me and said "You don't know everything about your scanner? Well the only ones who can access the voice command are the ones who have properly connected with their scanners." I blinked and said "What do you mean properly connected?" She sighed and said "They really should have made you take the technology class despite your high scores. Your scanner is basically a semi organic machine. It bonds with the person it's designed for then changes and adapts as they do. It was originally designed for the military; however they couldn't figure out the best way to use it. So, the project was going to be scrapped. Professor Asterion stepped in and took the scanners for the students. He believed that with the right programming they could be used to overcome the differences in the races. Once he took the scanners, he upgraded the classes at the academy to allow the different groups to intermingle. However because the scanner bonds with its host teachers have a very limited amount they can show them. The scanner itself unlocks each level of programming as the student needs it. The help program is a basic feature that explains what each combination of keys does, however since you already have voice command override unlocked, and you don't have to worry about that. Also because of the voice command, you don't have to worry about others taking your scanner."

I stared at her with a slightly credulous expression then looked down at my scanner and said "Scanner, pull up the pokedex function and show me all collected data on Ninetails, Charizard, and Mightyena." The help screen closed and three other holo screens appeared in its place. I nodded slowly studying each set then said "Scanner close pokedex view and go into standby mode until I tell you to activate." My scanner closed the holo views then shrank into an arm guard and stopped glowing. Lady Shandi studied me and said "I see that despite your distrust of me, you tested what I said. Are you content?" I nodded and she said "Good, then you can stop treating everything I say with suspicion and take me at my word now. Otherwise this lesson is going to take all six hours and we aren't going to get anything done."

I sighed then thought about it for a while and said softly "Fine, I'll do as you say without question until you give me more of a reason to distrust you." She nodded realizing that was the best she would get, then slowly stretched out her wings and walked outside. I followed her at a sedate pace holding back a yawn and wondering where she could possibly be taking me, and why she wanted me to go there. She glanced back to make sure I was following a few times then stepped onto one of the portals. I hopped up next to her and the two of us were transported to a spot in the middle of a beautiful glade. I blinked and said "This is an interesting place." She nodded and walked over to a large boulder and pushed it out of the way revealing a large cave.

I blinked and walked in slowly wondering what would happen next. Lady Shandi walked in behind me then pulled the boulder back across the entrance and walked deeper into the cave with an orb of light hanging over her head. I followed her carefully, and wondered what could possibly be so important in an old musty cave. After a few minutes she stopped beside another boulder and said "Everything you see in this next area is an illusion. It's designed to test your magic. If you pass then in six hours you'll walk out of here. If you fail, then I'll take you back to the infirmary. Don't hesitate to follow your instincts. I'll be watching you from another passage, so don't worry if things get to tough." I stared at her and she said "Is something the matter?" I shook my head and said "I'm just surprised." She smiled slightly and said "You seem able to handle yourself, so I thought we'd test your abilities using a chamber the headmaster and I discovered a very long time ago. Kiriana trains here every chance she gets." I smiled and kicked the boulder out of the way then walked in.

The boulder slid back into place behind me and I heard Lady Shandi's voice say "Remember, nothing in there is real. If you accept it as such however, then it will become real and you'll be in danger." I nodded and walked to the middle of the chamber as the crystals started glowing with their own inner light. I stared at them and suddenly found myself in the middle of an extravagant plaza with people running everywhere. One of them turned to me and said "Did you hear? The crown prince is coming to the city. He's going to remove the corrupt prim minister and replace him with lord Syana."

I blinked and said "whose lord Syana?" The man stared at me confused then said "You must be an outlander. Lord Syana is the most honest nobleman in the city. He turned in several merchants who'd been cheating people and leads the elite guard. It's believed the prince will take him from a minor lord to a high lord." I blinked and suddenly found myself remembering everything the man talked about and asked "Didn't he also go out and kill the demon Sentias without the help of his guardsmen?" The man nodded and said "Yes, though he plays it down. The demon supposedly had him cornered when he decided to use his broken lance as a spear and shove it down the beast's throat. I don't believe that, I think he attacked it and when the lance broke pressed the charge. He doesn't seem the type to hide." I nodded and said "His guards say he went after the beast with a determined stride." The man laughed and walked off talking to several other villagers as I sat down on a barrel.

I couldn't figure out why it had taken me so long to remember who lord Syana was. Suddenly I heard a voice say "There you are Liomas. You're father is waiting for you in the castle. He got worried and sent me to find you because usually you're so punctual." I turned and started to say my name wasn't Liomas when a flood of memories came back to me. I shook my head slowly and said "Sorry Nemas. Is father angry that I took so long, or did you decide to take it into your own hands and just say he's worried?" Nemas blinked and said "A combination of the two. He said if you don't hurry he was going to tan your hide, but he didn't really send me to get you. I thought you were lost, so I decided to lead you there myself."

I smiled and said "Thank you Nemas. I don't think I'd have found the right tower without your help." He led me through several winding streets until we finally came to a large tower with my father, Lord Syana's banner on top. I walked in and my elder brother Kin looked at me. I waved to him and he said "Father was starting to get worried you wouldn't arrive. I'm glad Nemas went and fetched you. If he hadn't father would have looked weak in front of the prince of the land. You know father is worried about the prince seeing him as a fool who can't keep his own children in line, let alone an entire land." I sighed and walked up the steps then looked at my brother and said "Only because the prince's administrators know nothing about what our father does for the people. If they did I doubt they'd believe he had trouble controlling anything." My brother looked at me with pure loathing then turned and stalked into the conference room where my father, Lord Silas, and Lady Maria were all meeting. Lady Maria was the head of the mage's guild in our region, and Lord Silas was the head of the army. Both bowed to my father's will because of his tactical experience, the fact he had the love of the people, and the fact the he had once been good friends with the king.

I followed Kin slowly wondering what could possibly be going on. I stopped shortly after passing through the doorway and shook my head as I heard a voice say "Why am I letting myself get pulled into an illusion? I have to admit it's rather elaborate since it tried changing my memories, but it's still just an illusion. Right?" I shook my head again as thoughts and memories came flying back then slowly closed my eyes and tried to regulate the flow. It took about five minutes and in that time I could hear my father and Nemas asking if I was ok.

When it was all sorted out I opened my eyes and said "Yes Nemas, I'm fine. I just had to gather my thoughts." while thinking "I almost let myself completely fall into this illusion. I wonder how strong it has to be to manipulate your memories and hide who you are. Is this what Lady Shandi was talking about when she said it wasn't real?" I sighed softly and sat down in one of the chairs and listened as Lord Silas and Lord Syana discussed the best route to take the prince down. I yawned and leaned back as the talk went on then finally got irritated and said "Why don't you both ask Lady Maria what she thinks?" They stared at me surprised and I realized from the weird other memories that a second son never questioned his father, particularly when that father was a lord.

However instead of following the memories I stood up and said "She's a member of the mages guild, which means she knows more about magic. So wouldn't it be wise to include her in your discussion, to find out if she knows anything about someone trying to commit magical assassination?" They stared at me as if surprised I had a mind then turned to Lady Maria and asked "Is what he just said possible, my lady?"

She sighed softly and said "I'm sorry to say this, but your son is correct. Magic can be used to assassinate someone just like an arrow, knife, or poison. It works by subtler means at times, however it may be as bland as a fireball suddenly engulfing the carriage. I believe your son may be right in assuming that the prince will be under threat, Lord Syana. However I have mages all over the city preparing wards just in case someone does attempt such a feat." Lord Syana looked at me in surprise and I had to hold back a sense of joy from that other personality. A smile did however slip out so he glanced at Kin and said "Any ideas on how to stop a regular assassin Kinimaro?" Kin shrugged and said "Guard all the heights, make sure the prince has a multitude of guards, and have at least one mage on him at all times. If none of that works, then obviously you have a traitor in your midst." I studied Kin carefully and noticed a dangerous glint in his eyes. However when he caught me studying him, I glanced at the floor.

I looked back up after a while as Lord Silas said "That is very true Kin. However that's why we won't allow anyone else into the conference room. You, your brother, and Nemas have proven yourselves loyal to the kingdom time and time again. If you hadn't, we wouldn't have allowed you into the conference or even let you know one was going on." I nodded realizing that they were taking extra precautions because of how important the prince was, but decided not to voice my hidden concerns. Nemas seemed to sense my silence and said "What's wrong young Liomas? I know that you aren't used to participating in these war meetings, but that shouldn't be any reason to have a look of such concern on your face." I turned to Nemas and said softly "This is a war meeting?" Nemas shook his head and said "No, I was just using an example of other times the conferences were this important. Now then, tell old Nemas what's bothering you." I sighed and said softly "My only thought was, what if a there were a traitor in the meeting? Someone who followed the code's of the king, but only because they were waiting for a chance to strike?" Nemas stared at me aghast and said softly "That would go completely against the codes of the land. Anyone foolish enough to do that would be exiled at best, executed at worst."

I nodded slowly in understanding then sighed and said "Thank you for telling me that Nemas. It means there's probably no ground to support my fears." He nodded and went back to listening to the three rulers while I sat back in my chair and thought about what Nemas had told me. Finally I sighed and stood up. Lord Syana glanced at me and I said "Father I'm going to go for a walk. I know that these proceedings are important, but I can't see why you are debating them again and again. I know you started them weeks ago when you first heard the prince was coming and secured the prime minister, however I don't see why you would deliberate on the day the prince was set to arrive." The three of them stared at me then Kin spoke up and said "Send him away if he doesn't want to listen. It's not as if you expect him to become a lord anyway, father. With his attitude, no king would accept him as a vassal. They'd probably all turn him away in disgust for not showing them the proper amount of respect." Lord Syana sighed then nodded and said "Then go Liomas. However stay close to the tower in case we need your insight." I nodded and walked down the stairs wondering why I felt as if this had actually happened and I was just reading the lines off a prepared script. I shook my head discarding the thought as soon as it formed and suddenly found myself face to face with a creature that could only be called a goblin. The creature had pointed ears, a face that looked as if it was covered in dry patches of skin, yellow slitted eyes, and wore ragged clothing as if it had traveled for a long period of time.

The creature studied me and said "Out of the way before I gut you." I stepped to the side and watched it walk past then continued out the door only slightly worried about what such a beast could possibly want with the three most powerful people in the city. I walked outside quickly and noticed that the guards were watching the tower even more carefully than when Nemas and I went in. Suddenly a large blue dragon that had the same kind of eyes as Nevyn walked up. They spoke of a strong character that had endured hardships, yet instead of becoming untouchable had accepted and moved past the pain. I watched him walk past and suddenly Liomas seemed to take over. He studied the man then said "Ronak, aren't your people leaving?" He nodded and said "I came to bid the council farewell, and warn them of the threat posed by the beasts to the north. I don't know if they will be able to do anything, but maybe they can warn the prince and it will get through his mind that my people are trustworthy." I nodded and fully slipped into Liomas then asked "How is young Nerias? I know you told father he was learning quickly, but I haven't heard anything about him since your last visit."

Ronak sighed and said "He feels betrayed by most of the people. I told him that he shouldn't feel that way, but I think it would be better coming from you. However if you're busy, I understand." I shook my head and said "No, I'll go talk to him. There's really no point in me attending this meeting. As Kin so kindly pointed out I'm never going to be a lord, so why should I deliberate like one?" Ronak stared at me then said "You're bloodline will continue the kings my boy. I don't know how, I just know it will." I nodded in understanding and asked "Where is he?" Ronak smiled and said "He's at the gate to the outer walls. I think he planned on taking a few shots at the along the wall from the gate." I nodded and ran off to the outer walls wondering why Nerias of all people would doubt humans. His own fiancé was a human who'd turned down her family due to their prejudices. I shook my head and started running, figuring I'd ask him when I saw him. As I ran I silently wondered why Kin hadn't commented more during the meeting, and why my father seemed to be so troubled during the meeting. Suddenly someone tackled me and said "LIOMAS!!!!!" right into my ear.

I slowly turned my head as my ears stopped ringing and saw a young tabby tom staring me in the eyes. I growled and reached for his throat as he hopped to his feet and yelled "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU Calen!!!!" He laughed and started running away only to be picked up by a tall charizard who sighed and said softly "Calen you know how Liomas feels about being attacked when he's running. I have half a mind to put you down and let him have at you." Calen smiled at him innocently and said "Now Soran, we both know you're too nice to do something like that." I yawned and said "Don't worry Soran; I'll get him back after we go see Nerias. However until then I will let you do to him as you wish." Soran nodded and the two of us started walking then I said "Wait, where is Kikia?" Soran and Calen both laughed then Calen said "She's probably stalking you Liomas. I mean, the girl's flat out in love with you. You're to damn blind to see it, and she's to shy to tell you. Which basically means you and her are only going to end up together if something huge happens." I glared at him and Soran said "Sadly my young friend he's right. You and Kikia are a perfect match, yet neither of you is able to or willing to talk to the other. Also, every time one of us brings up the two of you being together you turn on us."

I glared at him and said softly "If I care about someone I'll let them know in my own time on my own terms." He and Calen just smirked then Calen said "So, where we headed?" I yawned and said "To talk to Nerias. I guess from there we go see old mage Asterion and hear what he has to say." They shook their heads as if they couldn't understand why I'd want to see a man who'd supposedly watched the end of both chaos and the great hero our fathers constantly talked about. I sighed softly and we continued walking. I glanced to my right and found myself face to face with a young black haired teenage girl who hadn't been there a moment ago. I sighed and said "You need to stop doing that Kikia. If not, you'll probably end up being the death of me." She shrugged and the three of us continued walking, then Calen jumped out of Soran's arms and ran next to her. I watched the two of them and Soran said softly in my ear "Liomas stop glaring at them. Calen isn't the type to go after the girl his best friend is in love with." I sighed and closed my eyes then turned back ahead of us as we came upon the gate to the outer wall. One of the guards looked down then yelled "CALEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I THOUGHT YOU WERE WORKING WITH FATHER AT THE TANNERY!!!" Calen smiled up at his older brother Jared and yelled back "FATHER TOLD ME TO GO AND STAY WITH LIOMAS!!!!!!!!!! HE SEEMS TO THINK I WON'T GET INTO AS MUCH TROUBLE WITH HIM AROUND!!"

I smiled innocently and said "Don't worry Jared the four of us will keep out of trouble and once we find Nerias we're going to see old man Asterion. I guess from there we'll go watch the prince's procession then head to our beds." Jared smiled and said "Thanks for keeping track of Calen, Liomas. I know with you watching out for him, he won't find any trouble." Calen, Kikia, and Soran chuckled at that, and then the four of us walked out through the gate. As soon as we walked through the gate I spotted Nerias spitting fireballs at a few of the targets in the distance. The others slowly walked over to him while I stood back. I sighed softly and studied him trying to see how he'd changed so much from the boy I'd known. The first thing I'd noticed was that he'd gone from 5'3" to 7'11 and his scales had turned from a very light green to a deep forest green that was almost black. His wingspan had increased, his tail now had a sharp barb on the end, and his formed had immensely bulked out. I walked over and said "Good afternoon Nerias." He turned to me and I saw that his once bright blue eyes now had streaks of silver in them and his stomach's scales had turned red. I shivered and he said softly "Hello old friend. What brings you out here?" I started to tell him when I suddenly felt an intense pain in my head and found myself standing back in the cavern.

I turned slowly to the right and saw Lady Shandi standing there with Gabe. She looked me in the eyes and said "You're time is up. If you want, on your days off the headmaster or I will bring you here." I nodded and she lead me back out through the tunnel to the portal. I glanced back as we came upon the portal and saw the rock slide itself back into place then shivered. Lady Shandi teleported us back to my dorm then walked back to the main building while I headed inside. I stopped as soon as I got in I saw Gabe, Nevyn, a dragon who I didn't know, and a crème colored feline. I blinked and said "Gabe who's the cat, and Nevyn who's the dragon?" Nevyn blinked and said "These are my friends Tordoc and Ruby. Tordoc has ability similar to yours, so the headmaster asked me to let him meet you. I agreed and here we are." I studied Tordoc then sat down on my bed and said "Would you three please take seats?" They nodded and sat down next to Gabe. I glanced at Tordoc and said "I can tell just by looking at you that you know how to heal." He nodded and I asked "Do you think you could show Gabe how to harness his aura like you do whatever element you use." He studied me then said "What do I get in return for teaching your roommate?" I shrugged and said "You have the option to name your price."

He smiled and suddenly the cat whispered in his ear. He glanced at her then turned to me and said "Can I name my price at any time?" I nodded and said "So long as you agree to teach Gabe I'm all for it." I held out my hand and he took it then the girl said something to him and he nodded. He smiled at Nevyn and said "I'll talk to you later Nevyn." then turned to me and said "I'll let you know when I can start teaching your roommate. However until then I won't call upon you." I nodded and watched the two of them go then leaned back and sighed. Nevyn looked at me and I said "How long were Dragons subjugated for Nevyn?" He stared at me surprised then said "I honestly don't know, but my great grandfather says it started shortly after the fall of chaos. He wouldn't explain, but it seemed as if he'd seen the results it had on our people first hand."

I nodded in understanding then he stood up and said "So are we still on for meeting tomorrow?" I nodded and said "Hell yes, I need a day off after the week I've had." Gabe snickered under his breath and I raised an eyebrow questioningly at him. He shook his head and said "Don't worry about it, just thinking about what you could have possibly had to do for Lady Shandi." Nevyn shivered and said "Sorry you had to deal with her alone bro, but from what Dash said you readily agreed." I nodded and held out my hand for him to shake. He shook it then said "What time?" I shrugged and said "I guess we'll meet at the school gates around six or seven o' clock." He nodded and left then I shut the door and sat back down on my bed. Gabe looked me in the eyes then said "Dude you look older than when you left, what happened?" I shrugged and said "I honestly don't know. That's part of why I need tomorrow to de-stress, if I don't then I'm going to go nuts. The other reason is that I need as far away from this school as I can get." He nodded and I slowly stripped down to my boxers then crawled into bed. He watched me and said "Well, I guess you don't want me to tag along tomorrow." I looked at him and said "You're coming with me, even if it means I have to drag you along." He grinned and said "Cool I'll see you in the morning then."

I nodded and rolled over onto my side as the girl walked in and hopped onto my bed while Ivan sat down at the base. I glanced at him and he said "I feel like sleeping out here." I nodded then glanced at the girls who said "This time you aren't going anywhere without us." I sighed then nodded and closed my eyes with a slight smile on my lips. As I laid there I slipped into a deep sleep wondering what trials my friends and I would face in the future, and why I had a feeling that the weird things I was seeing in the cave had really happened.
