StarLight Nova:

** ** _Focus...Concentrate. Predict his moves, counter and..._Oomph!

"Ow... Damn it." I mutter from the ground, an earth like clone of a human standing a few feet from me, right arm out, left arm in with its controller behind it.

"You have got to make yourself a small target Colby," A raspy voice says. "Enemies won't hesitate to deliver the killing blow after that." He explained.

"Good thing it's only training," I huff, groaning as I sit up, legs crossed as I rub my left shoulder, the point of impact. "And do you really have to hit that hard? I am going to have bruises for months!" Wincing, I stand up and brush off my robes, still gray and plain with my staff off to the side of the training area.

"Training takes discipline and hard work. If you do not want to get hurt or injured, then maybe being a Protector is not for you." The old man said.

I freeze, eyes wide looking at the ground, right arm halfway down my chest to swipe some dirt off. I clench my teeth and shake my head, cursing again when my shoulder erupts in brief pain. "Ok, I do want to train. I just did not expect you to go so hard on me." I reply, walking a couple steps forward before getting into my fighting stance again; left leg and arm out, right arm tucked in.

The old man nods once before widening his smile, the earthen combat warrior changing his stance...once again. With his legs the same as mine, he puts he left arm out with his hand in a fist as if to place it on his chest, raising his right arm with its fingers loosely open. Once it gets in position I start to inch forward, inch by inch with the sparing dummy remaining still. It happens so fast I could barely avoid it; the warrior leans forward and down, placing his left hand on the ground, pivoting before slamming his right heel into my chin.

"Never let your guard down Colby." The old man says. I sail through the air and come down hard, rolling onto my left side while holding my chin.

"Ngh! That was not called for Quin Shun! You could have broken my chin open! Again!" I shout, gingerly touching it to see if there is any blood. Thankfully, somehow, there isn't and I slowly get up again and dust off my robes...again.

"I guess it is time to take a break now. You mood will not get you anywhere in your training right now. Go to the waterfall and heal up, we will continue later on." Quin Shun says dressed in crimson red robes with a flaming mossy staff by his side.

I was wierded out the first time I saw his staff, covered with moss but alight in flames at the same time; a combination of serenity and fiery passion. Putting my hands by my sides, I watch as Quin Shun lets the earth warrior fall apart, crumbling down to the ground in a heap of loose dirt. Sighing, I rub my chin once more before turning to retrieve my staff as Quin Shun goes off to, wherever he usually goes when he is not training me.

Grabbing my staff, I twirl it around a few times before placing it on my back, secured by a very small amount of magic. I run my right hand through my yellow hair, blinking my eyes a few times and looking up at the sky, shielded by the trees all around me. The waterfall is not that far by running or jogging, but I am too tired to do either of them right now, so I begin walking through the trees, passing my cabin made a long time ago when I was younger, and head towards the waterfall.

If you ask me, it is both exciting and terrifying that I am a Protector, tasked with fighting anything evil to guard the world against. I do not have many powers, as I am just an apprentice, but Quin Shun told me I was special. Right when my powers manifested in the hospital room I was in, I knew that my long time dream had come true, although jumping out of the building and flying to the bank to stop the robbers was unreal, I have come to accept that I can now do things I normally could not do. I can fly, turn invisible, and probably many other things, but it will have to wait.

As I near the waterfall, I can hear the roar of the water, the muted call of the surrounding birds and call of the wildlife. Having built my cabin within Harold Parker State Forest, I enjoy listening to sounds and noises at night, feeling the breeze blow through me. Quin Shun said this was a good spot to train, and no one ever ventured as far as I had made my cabin. Still, even after confessing my feelings about how I felt about my parents dying in the car crash only about three months ago and my sister running away a year before that, heroes certainly have a hard life.

Arriving at the waterfall, I place my staff next to a nearby rock and undress, taking off my robes, pants, shoes and socks. Without having built a shower in my cabin...yet, it is nice to bath at the waterfall, the cool temperature allowing me to relax and drift off, to sometimes forget what is troubling me.

Killjoyrule:

** ** Meanwhile in a small secluded cave behind the water rested a very rare sight for the world. A dragoness lay there, her light blue scales covered in a thin mist of water droplets giving a shine to them as small light rays made it into the cave; her body rising slowly as she smelled a strange scent that startled her slightly from her slumber. She was a small one compared to other dragons, very young and still curious in her ways much like a hatchling sensing something new to explore as she made her way to the entrance of the cave. The scent reminded her of the lingering smell that was in her nest yet she never knew where it came from, only ever seeing her mother.

Soon she ended up seeing you resting in the waterfall, making her tilt her head. Sure she had occasionally seen humans outside, always making her nervous remembering how her mother scattered every time one had ended up near the nest, hiding her in a corner but this one smelled so strangely like a dragon that it left her brimming with excitement to meet this creature.

After all she thought it might be a friend, someone she could play with! She was always lonely since her mother fell asleep and never woke up again, looking in weird places for someone to be with but everything was too scared of her to let her close. Leaning against a rock as she watched you bath, she accidently upset the decent sized boulder as it rolled down into the water with a large splash, her confidence fading as she hid back in the cave hoping she didn't anger you.

Starlight Nova:

** ** I close my eyes and plunge my head into the water, swimming forward a few feet before resurfacing and shaking my head. My body is well toned and agile from the many weeks of training that Quin Shun has been giving me. I am not overly strong or rip, but I do have the beginnings of a six pack. As the wind rustles the leaves above and I murmur a few words to dull the pain in my left shoulder, a loud splash erupts behind me.

I twist, just catching the boulder sinking to the bottom of the lake. I blink my eyes, emerald green eyes shimmering from the mist brought forth from the splash. I raise my head marginally to spot a glimmer of something behind the waterfall, retreating as if not wanting to be seen. I place my feet firmly on the lake floor near the shore and tilt my head.

"What the? What was that?" I mumble to myself, water dripping down my chest as the water comes up to the middle of my chest. "I swore I thought I saw a flash of blue." I question, looking around to see if anyone was nearby.

Something must have disturbed that rock to send it into the river, something strong enough to move it. I strain my eyes to see if I can spot anything else, but my normal vision is not good enough, the mist acts like a thousand reflections, hiding anything behind the waterfall enough so that I would have to be right next to it to see something. Releasing a few calm breaths, I close my eyes and draw a small ribbon of energy to the surface, my arms resting by my sides in the water.

The same pressure wells up behind my eyes, forcing me to open them less I want something bad to happen to my eyesight. My normal round irises change, becoming narrow like a dragon's, allowing me to see far better than a human could. I scan the waterfall again, searching for anything that might have caused the boulder to fall into the lake. I blink a few times, rising to my full height to try and get a better view.

"Now, where are you?" I ask to no one in particular until a light blue glint catches my eye, the color almost white in the mist.

My eyes widen in disbelief, my mind not comprehending what I am seeing. It appears even though most of the waterfall obscures the shape of the figure, that it is a dragon. "No way...Th-this is not possible." I mumble before shaking my head and turning to rise out of the water.

I head to my clothes, using my energy to slowly dry myself by relaxing and muttering a phrase in ancient Latin. The water dries up soon enough and I proceed to put my socks, pants, robes, and shoes back on. Leaving my staff where it is, I walk slowly around the lake to the waterfall, staying as quiet as I can, hoping to not scare off whatever is behind it.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I notice you grab your clothes and start dressing, hearing several things that just leave me confused but I hide myself as best as I can in the corner of the cave, shivering from nervousness and fear as you slowly make your way towards me, my tail hugging itself close to me for comfort as I sort of hug it.

I have just enough curiosity though to stop myself from bolting immediately when I notice how nonthreatening the way you walked as if you were afraid to even crush a leaf the wrong way. My wings hug themselves against my back, trying to appear as small as I could in hopes that you wouldn't attack me.

I had always been so skittish around others if they noticed me first ever since I had met a wolf pack after getting caught playing with one of their cubs, they attacked me, leaving me bruised and scared.

I was very hungry at the same time, having scavenged for my meals, my mother not having stayed long enough to teach me how to hunt. I understandably was rather skinny but still had a nice set of healthy scales despite my lack of food, but I knew I was not in much of a condition to fight anything, feeling more than just the normal energy of life around you, something I felt everyday in my body just never knowing what to do with it but knowing it was a very dangerous thing my mom warned me never to play with the energy. I waited for you to reach me, too afraid to exit the comfort of the cave.

StarLight Nova:

** ** The mist from the waterfall begins to reach me, getting my robe wet and slightly heavy. "Maybe this was not such a good idea to put my clothes back on, idiot." I berate myself, stopping every so often to try and see if I could find an opening to what seemed like a cave behind the waterfall.

I look to the right near the forest and spot a shallow opening leading behind the waterfall. I walk forward again, turning my head occasionally to see if my eyes do not deceive me. By the time I reach the entrance, I am right next to the waterfall, the mist soaking my robes and pants. Letting out a soft curse, I reach for my energy again and place a waterproof spell on my clothes while drying myself out...again.

I shake my head briefly before continuing, looking into the cave to see the small form of a dragon. That must be what knocked that boulder into the lake. I have never seen a dragon before, and I really don't know what to do. By the looks of it, it must be scared, as I cannot spot its mother, I think to myself, crouching down and placing my right hand on the slippery wall, looking around to get a better sense as to how big the cave is.

I walk forward carefully, stopping every so often to readjust my gaze on the dragon to see if it is still there. Even after walking into the cave behind the waterfall, it must be true that what I am seeing is a dragon. I can clearly see that it is shaking, and so I slow down, kneeling on my right knee to calmly talk to it.

"Hi there, little one," I say. I can't tell if it is a male or female by how it is lying down and it is surely small. I would have thought it should be bigger, or else this one is just a hatchling. "Don't worry; I am not going to hurt you." I say, holding my left hand out with my palm facing the dragon.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I look at you as you make your way in, sticking my nose out a bit to sniff towards you, catching that same smoky scent. I back up further into the wall, avoiding you until I hear how calm you sounded, not having attacked me quite yet as my curiosity overrides my fear so that when you reach your hand out I lick it, shaking my head at the taste of it, looking confused. Slowly I uncurl myself as it becomes obvious that I'm female, my tail having moved away. I finally decide you seemed nice enough and nuzzle your hand.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I laugh when the dragon licks my hand, smiling wide and waiting for it to become comfortable around me. When it stretches out and nuzzles my hand, I rub its snout, feeling the soft scales and subtle heat it carries. I catch a glimpse of its left flank and see how malnourished it is, wondering if it has been all alone its life.

"You sure do have beautiful scales," I tell it, pulling my hand away to sit down on the floor. "And you must be hungry by how you look. I can see your ribs against your scales."

I sit there, just staring at the dragon with my legs crossed, looking at its wings and how there is not as much muscle as I would have imagined. Its fore and hind legs look skinny too. I lower my head and breathe out slowly, releasing the energy in my eyes, changing them back to normal. When I look up, I accidentally look down at its tail and see a line going through the scales leading to a smaller hole near the base of the tail.

I lean back, spreading my arms out to balance me as my eyes go wide in embarrassment. I stutter, trying to say something, to apologize but I am struck speechless as I know what that is, but do not know whether the dragon in front of me is male or female. I look down and away to the left, lowering my eyelids while trying to erase that image from my mind. I breathe out slowly, not realizing I had held my breath and turn towards the dragon again.

"Ehh, sorry, about that. I did not mean to peek. It was rude of me." I say, looking down between my legs to stare at the ground with my arms resting on my legs.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I purr as I feel your skin rub along my snout causing a pleasureful sensation along it. I begin to nuzzle more until you pull your hand away making me tilt my head in confusion when you suddenly get very nervous sounding and it throws me off guard wanting to keep you happy as you seemed to be to see me.

In reaction to you I nuzzle your chest and lick, trying to cheer you back up, afraid I had somehow upset you. I felt suddenly afraid of you leaving me alone again as you already had shown you were very kind so I lay my head in your lap, looking up at your eyes and giving a very sad sounding croon.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I close my eyes for a while when the dragon bumps its muzzle against my chest and licks me, obviously trying to cheer me up. I then feel a weight on my legs and I open my eyes, surprised as I see the dragon resting its head on my lap. A small smile is brought to my face while I look into its eyes, a light blue just like its scales, sparkling from the mist created by the waterfall and generally concerned that I will leave it.

"You want me to stay?" I ask, extending my right arm to lightly touch its neck so as not to scare it. I gradually move my hand up and down the dragon's neck, soothing it as I look over its form, looking at its horns, the spikes and its tail, making sure to avoid the spot at the base. Behind the waterfall, where sound is dimmed by the roar of it, I have no doubt that the dragon can hear me. "Sure, but I need to get back to Quin Shun sometime. I can stay for a few hours, but not forever." I explain, bringing my left hand up to gently and slowly touch the side of the dragon's muzzle, feeling its small scales on its face.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I give a happy purr as I notice you seem to feel better and wiggle excitedly, feeling your hand across the side of my face and I give a gentle lick along your cheek, returning the favor before relaxing and shifting to a more comfortable position of me lying on my belly, my tail swaying as I enjoy the rubs. Soon my stomach gives a hungry rumble, ruining the peaceful moment as it was my turn to act embarrassed making a sound that could only be described as a draconic laugh of sorts as I stand up and give a questioning look at you before walking to the waterfall and waiting to see if you would follow.

Starlight Nova:

** ** I back off as a strange sound emits from the dragons stomach, but I remind myself that it must have to fend for itself and does not get to eat a lot. I open my mouth when the dragon creates another noise, one that sounds somewhat like laughter as I see it get up and pad towards the waterfall, giving me a pleading look in which I tilt my head. "You...want me to follow you?" I ask, standing up slowly and walking towards the dragon. "I guess you want something to eat huh?"

Killjoyrule:

** ** I wiggle excitedly, noticing you were next to me. I jump into the water with a loud splash as water flies everywhere, slowly making my way to the shore, taking time to enjoy the water rolling around a bit but another grumble of my stomach reminds me of why I was outside the cave so I look around for anything that might be a suitable meal, sniffing the trees nearby and occasionally looking to see if you were still there but not having much luck at sniffing out any prey or food.

StarLight Nova:

** **"Hey!" I shout when the dragon jumps into the lake and splashes water all around, momentarily forgetting that I had put on a water resistance spell on my clothes. I lower my arms and watch as the dragon paddles in the water, looking at me every now and again while sniffing for food.

I look back from where I entered the cave and look at the other end, seeing if there is another exit on that side as well. I walk over, the dim light broken up by the mist making it hard to see by but I do spot another entrance and walk out, the mist sliding off my clothes so I do not get wet. I stroll around the lake towards the dragon and away from the waterfall, looking around and breathing in calmly as I wonder how I, out of everyone on this planet that could have seen it first, touched it.

I look over at the dragon as she cannot seem to find anything to eat, so I figure the overwhelming scent and noise of the waterfall is drowning out even her superior senses. I turn to face her, watching as she swims about. "Having trouble finding anything?" I ask, looking out to the forest where I know there is an abundance of wildlife, this small dragon probably does not know how to hunt.

"I can catch something for you if you want." I say without turning around.

I walk a few feet away from the waterfall, slowing my breathing down and kneel on one knee while placing my right hand on the ground. Closing my eyes, I reach for my energy and pull it forth, gathering it up around my arm, feeling the tension of it as I hold it there. From the training Quin Shun has given me, I should be able to locate something within a few miles if not a little further. As the seconds tick by my arm starts to throb and then I release it, not all at once but in small bursts, guiding it down my arm and out my hand and into the earth.

The pulses act like sonar, or radar, the energy flowing rapidly over ground and locating anything that moves or is large enough for what I am thinking. Small animals pop up at first, then bigger animals like big predator cats and bears. I squeeze my eyes tighter and send slightly bigger pulses, the energy gathered in my arm dissipating quickly. At last, a large animal is located by my energy, the pulse telling in what direction and how far it is away; a healthy buck, North-West of where we are and a little more than a quarter mile out.

I stand up, panting a little at the toll of energy required to do the task, a few beads of sweat rolling down my face. I cancel the water resistance spell so I can have some energy to kill or help kill the buck. "Dragon! I found something for you!" I yell, turning to wave my right arm in the air to get its attention. Once I make sure I have it facing me, I turn marginally to the right and point ten degrees from where I stand before starting to walk that way. Halfway to the woods, I turn around to see if the dragon followed me, just like how it wanted me to follow it.

Killjoyrule:

** ** After a bit of searching I notice you wander past the waterfall. I feel that feeling as I did the last time you use the energy you had in your body. It made me cringe from how familiar it was to what my mother had in her body and I knew I had in mine. It reminded me of the energy a dragon's soul carries, the very same type that my mother had used to heal me as I was sick.

Snapping myself from my thoughts I wait for you, curiosity brimming in my eyes. I wondered why you were releasing energy for no visible reason. Soon I realize you actually wanted me to follow you, awkwardly stumbling after you, still not completely concentrated on the path.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I feel the dragon following me as I head into the forest, glancing back occasionally to look at it. Every so often I stop and release a short burst of energy while placing my hand on a tree to make sure I am going the right way. After half an hour of walking I suddenly stop, raising a hand and looking back at the dragon to make sure it stopped as well. I continue to walk forward, crouching down to peer past the bushes to spot the buck grazing on some grass in a small meadow up ahead.

I slow my breathing, pulling back to stand up and think about what to do. I have not much in my arsenal of attacks, but I have learned from the heroes in many comic books and movies that you use what you can around you. That gives me an idea as I walk over to a tree carefully to try and not spook the buck and use a sliver of my energy to muffle the sound of a snapping branch.

I lower myself down to the ground and mutter a few words, breaking the leaves off and forming it into a crude arrow. I look back up at the dragon before standing up and holding my left hand out straight as if holding a bow while gripping the substitute arrow in my right hand. I close my eyes and picture a bow, whispering the words of materialization taught to me by Quin Shun. "Virtutem animus affero, wood bow." I say, opening my eyes to watch a bow materialize in my hands.

I grasp it once it appears, releasing a withheld breathe as I bring the substitute arrow up and notch it, pulling back on the string and steady my aim. I adjust my stance and narrow my eyes to the target, watching the buck raise its head at a small noise and turn around. I hold patiently as it walks around to show its chest. Before it can see me, I let go of the arrow, putting some energy in it to let it fly straight.

The buck struggles for a few seconds after it is hit, the wood splintering inside of its chest, puncturing its heart as it bleeds out. It stumbles and thrashes before falling to the ground. I lower the bow and mutter "Dispareo" for it to vanish. Looking back at the dragon, I raise my right arm and say, "enjoy."

Killjoyrule:

** ** When we finally do stop I smell the prey, feeling my mouth water at the scent, barely stopping myself from rushing after it in a frenzy. I did not do so because of how you were acting, it seemed as if you wanted to kill it so I sat down as quietly as I could, stopping my tail. As soon as I see the bow form my eyes opened wide wondering how you did that.

Before I know it you had the buck on the ground dying. I rush out as fast I can to it, ripping into the flesh hungrily with my teeth full of a ravenous hunger that had built up over weeks. Suddenly I stop, realizing how rude I was being since it was your kill; you should have had the first helping. Ripping off a decent sized chunk of meat I bring it over to you, looking up at you before dropping the meat at your feet. I wait for you before continuing like my mother taught me how I should in another dragons company. Although I was sure you didn't look like a dragon you smelled like one and that was enough for me.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I watch as the small dragon dashes forward to devour the buck in hunger. It must be really hungry if it went after it like that, I think to myself, breathing in and out calmly, my robes flowing in the wind. When the dragon comes to me with a chunk of meat in its mouth, I back up a step or two but stop so it does not think I am leaving it. "Ah....That is...kind of you dragon. I...do not eat meat raw like you but thank you for it. I will have to build a fire first before I can eat it." I explain, looking around for a sturdy branch.

To my left a ways up the tree is a decently sized branch that narrows into a fine point. I walk over, turning to look at the dragon and placing both hands with palms out as if to say enough or stop, or stay. I raise my head to look at the high branch and place my hands on my hips, then change position with my right hand on my chin and my left arm below it, thinking. My eyes widen and I snap my fingers as I come up with another solution. I hold my hand put, pointing at the branch with my palm out, muttering another word as I gather some of my energy. "Scindo." Or cut.

The branch falls and I catch it with my outstretched hand, turning around to crouch down, stabbing the chunk of meat with the branch like spear. I stand up and walk past the bushes to where the buck is lying; mutilated from the short time the dragon had been eating it ferociously. Remind me not to get on its bad side, I comment to myself. I look back to see if the dragon follows, setting the stick down to collect a few pieces of wood.

If everything Quin Shun has trained me in is true, then the words are in Latin for the most part. Holding onto one piece of wood in my hands, I mutter one word, "Effingo" and the wood multiplies. Smiling, I place the pieces of wood in a triangle and gather my energy one last time. "Brisingr," and the wood sparks with a flame. I let it grow respectively before picking up the branch with the chunk of meat the dragon gave to me and hold it over the flame while sitting on a nearby stump.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I watch curiously, wondering why you were not eating the meat. It soon becomes obvious why though as I watch you start the fire, suddenly realizing you might not have an internal flame to cook it like me and kill the bacteria. Running back to my meal I work on ripping off chunks of meat to greedily swallow. After a decent amount of meat I fell to the ground lying there to watch you, giving a sleight groan at how full I am most of the buck gone.

Curiosity soon made me rise again and make my way over to you, nosing along your body as I explore you much like you did me. One of the things that baffled me the most though is your lack of a tail, never having seen an animal without one. I nose along your back wondering if you were hurt there.

** StarLight Nova:**

I look up from staring at the flames, occasionally turning the meat so as not to burn it to see the dragon resting on the ground, having devoured most of the buck. I smile, turning my attention back to the fire, watching in fascination of the small flecks of flames drifting up. I freeze when I feel the dragon's snout travel along my body and to my back, having not sensed its presence nearing. I twist around, trying to think of what you could be doing.

"What, what do you want?" I ask, involuntarily lowering the meat into the fire. As its snout reaches my butt I stand up, abruptly turning around while bringing the branch with the chunk of meat next to my pants, on fire. "I don't know what you are trying to do, but I like my personal sp-" I stop mid sentence, feeling a hot sensation creeping up my right leg. When I look down I shout, hopping on my left leg and throwing the burnt meat away. I flail my arms, eventually losing my balance and falling onto my butt.

"Ow! Hot Hot Hot!!" I say over and over, frantically trying to quell the flames. I desperately reach for my energy, squirming, rolling and patting the fire in a panic. As I lift my right leg up high I shout one word. "AQUA!" I extend my right hand above the flames and a blast of soothing cold water erupts from my palm, quenching the fire and my fear while soaking my pants.

I lower my leg, looking at the seared skin and missing fabric on my pants. I reach gingerly for it only to wince and pull away in pain. "The things I do to help." I mutter, trying not to move my leg and looking up at the dragon accusingly. "This would not have happened if you would have kept your space from my backside." I dejectedly shake my head, bending my left leg in and holding my right leg with both hands, the red and irritated skin being around my calf, not having travelled up past my knee yet. "I hope this is not a serious burn, it hurts like hell, Ngh!"

Killjoyrule:

I stop my curious nosing when I notice the flames. I make a startled sound trying to find some way to help franticly. I take a deep breath when I realize you had stopped the fire in relief. My relief was short lived though when I realized you were not fireproof as I thought, looking sadly at the burn, my tail drooping in shame the second I hear you scold me.

After looking at the wound for a bit I feel that energy in my mom had told me was dangerous to play with. I felt so bad for you that I felt like I had to try and help. Before you could try and stop me I looked down on the wound and took a deep breath before releasing it, the gas now tinged with a golden hue of energy. As the energy touched your skin it healed it slowly, removing the wound but it had a very nasty side effect on me. I was still very young and not at all strong yet, the healing sapping my strength rapidly, unable to control how much power I outputted with how little discipline I knew. Soon I passed out cold on the ground with a loud thump and a whimper drifting into blackness.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I stiffen when the dragon comes near me, prepared to tell it to leave me be, but stop when it breathes a golden gas onto my wound. It does not sting and has a cool breeze to it as it heals my wound before passing out with a whimper. I look at where the burn used to be, only seeing pink skin. I gingerly touch it, not feeling any pain or discomfort. I then carefully move my leg, raising it up and down, bending it with no pain still.

I lower my leg and look at the sleeping dragon, a few tears coming to my eyes as I smile. "Stupid dragon; you surely must be a hatchling then if you passed out from using energy. At least that says you have energy. And I should teach you how to control it, even though Quin Shun is teaching me how just the same." I sigh; looking over to spot the meat I had thrown a few feet away. I turn to watch the dragon sleep, the sun slowly setting as the day winds down. "Thank you...dragon." I say, moving to stand up, gently stomping my right leg on the ground to make sure it is ok.

I look around, arms crossed at my chest, wondering what to do. Quin Shun might know what to do, but the dragon would probably be scared when it sees him. I...I could provide it with more food, but that would mean I would have to leave it while it is unconscious, I think, walking slowly towards the dragon to kneel beside it. I stroke the scales on its flank, moving its right wing to rest on its back more comfortable, definitely feeling how malnourished it is.

I stand back up, walking away a few feet before looking back. "Be safe." I mutter, saying a few words of protection, defense wards that Quin Shun taught me. Minor, but able to allow me to escape if I meet someone or something that means me harm. I place them around the dragon before running off, stopping at a tree to locate some more food for my new friend. It takes me forty five minutes to gather another buck, an Elk, and an antelope. The trip back while carrying the animals to where the dragon is exhausts my energy. Sweat roles down my faces as I sit down on the stump in front of the fire and breathe heavily.

Through the weeks of training Quin Shun has trained me in endurance, increasing my energy so I can do more tasks. My hair is matted as I wait for the dragon to wake up, placing my kills near the dragon. Giving a small smirk, I think to myself how Quin Shun will react when or if I tell him I found a dragon.

Killjoyruel:

** ** After a long wait I finally wake up. I whimper out as a massive headache affects me and I feel generally weak all over from what happened. I look up to notice you sitting on a stump near the fire you made. I lift my head and crawl slowly over to you, giving a little purr licking even amongst my pained state. The wind shifts to me, bringing the scent of the kills to my nose, making my tail wag ever so slightly as I get up and make my way there nearly falling over a few times. I work on the antelope with quite the appetite even taking time to crunch the bones for the nutrients in it as I eat. Soon I finish what I can and make my way back to you, resting my head in your lap and purring deeply, feeling a bit better after eating.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I try to calm my breathing, focusing my thoughts and using the techniques that Quin Shun taught me. I barely feel the lick the dragon gives me, only concerned with recovering my breath right now. When it comes back and rests its head on my lap, I open my eyes and look down at the dragon, keeping my mouth open to slow my breathing. I do nothing for a while, just staring at the blue scales, the horns, the detail and weak state it is in.

I close my eyes and smile, lifting my left hand to gently place it on the dragon's neck. The wind blows through the forest, rustling the trees and my hair, drying the sweat off my face. "Now, if only you had a name I could call you by instead of dragon." I whisper to myself, opening my eyes to look up into the sky as the sky gradually darkens, the bright blues turning into navy blue and light pinks and oranges. "Such a pretty sunset."

_If Quin Shun were here, he would have made me do some training again, and I have no idea how he will handle this. He is reasonable, extremely patient with me when I mess up and a very good combat instructor. I probably might be able to handle that black hooded girl if I see her again, but I would not count on it._I look down again at the dragon, moving my left hand up and down to stroke its soft and warm scales, contemplating various things on how my life has changed even further. "And I still do not know whether or not you're a male or female."

Killjoyrule:

** ** I look deeply into your eyes and purr, enjoying the wind on my scales. My tail smacks the ground when I feel you rub along my scales making my eyes close in bliss. I wished so very much that somehow I could just talk to you, yet nothing got through to you. And I didn't understand you back. It was just kind of unfair but I accepted it, at least now I had a friend. And that mattered a lot to me so much more then he could know.

For once someone actually cared about me besides my mom had and I wanted to follow you everywhere I could. Not that there was much you could do to stop me from following, I had my own streak of stubbornness.

StarLight Nova:

** ** All I do is watch the dragon purr and swish its tail in content, occasionally looking around to just take in the view of the forest around us. Now would be a good time where I could meditate, but the dragon might want to know what I am doing. _Sigh, it's hard to communicate between two different species. It would be so much easier if I could just find out by..._I stop everything I am doing. I still my hand, open my eyes wide and look into the darkening sky. "Could...Could I possibly do that?" Why not? Dragons are naturally telepathic, conveying images, sounds, and colors to say what they want if they cannot speak.

I look back down at the dragon, watching it look back at me as it feels me stop stroking it. Mind as well give it a shot, I think. Taking a deep breath and nervous gulp, I open my mind from the defenses that Quin Shun has taught me over the weeks for shielding my mind, concentrating to extend it to touch the dragons. I have no idea what it will feel like, but I will know it when I find it since it is the only other living thing in close proximity to me.

I send my consciousness in the direction of the dragon's mind, focusing my thoughts and sending the simplest questions I can think of. "What is your name?" I say telepathically, displaying me with my name above it, then picturing you and showing a blank line. "My name is Colby Daniels; it is nice to meet you."

Killjoyrule:

** ** I am busy just relaxing until I felt a sharp stab of pain hit me as my minds defenses were attacked. Soon I dropped the defenses, the pain too great just in time to hear what you say. "Wha... what? You can speak like me!" I say in the same way, stunned with my whole body going rigid. "I...uhh never had a name...My mother fell asleep and never woke up... I'm so glad that you can speak like this though, I didn't understand a thing you said before, just that you were really nice to me." I lick, purring happily.

StarLight Nova:

I smile at the dragon, but frown when it says that its mother never woke up. I did not know if it was going to be able to reply, but at least we can communicate in some way now. "I am truly sorry about your mother young one. I will do what I can to care for you, but you must know I am in training to become a Protector. I must return to Quin Shun before night time or he will wonder where I have been." I reply, the thought beginning to dawn on me of what the voice sounded like.

It sounded like, a female. So, that slit I saw was..._I shiver slightly, returning my attention to the dragoness in question, burying those thought at the back of my mind. _She seems nice enough, small, underweight, yet caring and lovely just the same, I ponder, smiling as I continue to stroke her neck scales caringly. "I can give you a name if you want." I say telepathically, a little concerned that the name I choose will determine how she acts, but I dismiss it when I know that even though dragons take pride in names, sometimes not, that she will be who she is now and won't change.

Killjoyrule:

"That would be great! And about my mom, that was a few years ago. I feel a bit better now. It feels so good when you do that though." I purr loudly, nuzzling into you as you stroke my scales. "I'm sorry I hurt you. I was just wondering why you had no tail." I give an apologetic whimper remembering what had happened. "Also thanks. I have never had a friend before you. Can I come with you; I don't want to be alone again?"

StarLight Nova:

** ** I smile when she purrs, pushing against me in affection. She then explains why she was prodding me in the back, and it amuses me to think she would think I am a dragon, even though that would be cool. "I don't have a tail because I am not a dragon. I am a human." I reply, increasing the length of my stroking to cover more than half her neck. "I do not hold you responsible for that. Quin Shun would have set me on fire or made me douse something with water sooner or later in training." I say, chuckling as she reminds me I have to get back to him sooner or later.

I nod slightly when she says I am her friend, but stop stroking her neck and lower my head, contemplating what to do. If she does come with me, then I would have to explain to Quin Shun where I found her. I do not know if he would make her leave or let her stay and continue my training. I sigh in defeat, shaking my head before responding. Looking into her eyes, I place my left hand beside her muzzle and my right hand on her snout, rubbing it back and forth a little. "Yes you can come with me, but I must ask you to stay within the forest so I can talk with Quin Shun. Depending on what happens, you may have to wait until dark and I will come to you, or he will allow you to stay with me. I am not making any promises, I am just saying." I explain, looking up into the sky again to see night approaching fast. On the way to my cabin, I could think of a name for her then, I think to myself.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I wiggle in delight at all the affection you were giving me with the rubs. Soon I hear everything you have to say, my mind curious about Quin Shun. "Is he nice? He doesn't sound that nice." I say a little worried if he would get mad at you for telling him about me. "I don't want you in trouble because of me..." I nuzzle your hand after I finish and lick it.

StarLight Nova:

** ** "Don't worry," I say, smiling again when she licks my hand. "Quin Shun is my teacher, he is a very nice person, I just don't know what he will say when I tell him I found a dragon. Either way, I will have to tell him about you sometime. Mind as well do it now." I reply, preparing to get up by setting my hands on the stump, waiting for her to stand up. "Besides, if he is willing to let you stay, and I have no doubt he will because he would not turn you away, then he can teach you how to control your energy."

Killjoyrule:

** ** I stand up and shake myself free of any dirt before looking at you. "Ok I really hope your right. And my mother told me that I shouldn't use my energy unless it's a dire situation. She said it's more potent than most creatures and if overused can very likely kill me then help me." I say a little worried. "I'll try to learn it though! I don't want to pass out like last time again if I need to use it." I purr waiting for you to be ready.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I nod my head happily, standing up to walk a few steps towards the three kills I brought for her. "You need not worry about it; I have been using my energy for a long time," I respond, looking straight ahead into the forest with my arms by my sides as the shadows lengthened and the sun dipped down behind the trees. "Quin Shun has taught me how to control it; focus and concentration are the most important when using it," I say, turning my head to look at her before starting to walk in the direction of the dead animals.

I kneel down, placing my right hand on the ground and breathe out slowly, muttering a preservation and warding spell to keep them from decaying and fending off unwanted scavengers when we leave. Standing back up I turn to look at her again, pivoting my whole body this time. "For me it is inevitable I have to use it. There is evil in this world and that is what I am here for, to fight and defeat it," I pause, raising my left hand to clench it into a fist and close my eyes. I wait a few seconds before lowering my arm and opening my eyes.

"Patience is also another virtue that Quin Shun has taught me early in my training. As 'my' energy probably won't kill me but cause me to be unconscious, the length depending on how much I overused it." I explain, turning away to walk into the forest and to my cabin, more than sure that the dragoness is following behind me. I wait awhile before speaking again, thinking about some future issues and troubles but more concerned as to what to do with the dragoness behind me right now. "Quin Shun also has energy; he is a master of it if I had to say since I have no one else to compare myself to. He will not let either of us come to harm from using it, that, I swear to you." I say, walking past the numerous trees while listening to the distant calls of the birds and nighttime predators.

Killjoyrule:

"Ok then. I do hope he likes me. I'm not too good with others." I follow quietly after you, looking into the night sky and wondering if there were any other dragons left. It was sad to think I might very well be the last one. And even if there was other dragons what's to say if any of them would ever like me enough to fall in love. It was a constant worry in my mind every day, feeling the need to keep my species alive but knowing there was next to no hope of that happening. Once I heard about you having an evil to fight it made me shiver a bit, remembering one of the last things I heard my mom say. Something about an evil being nearby... my pace quickened after that from my nervousness.

StarLight Nova:

I nod but do not respond, content to listen to the sounds of the forest as I think of a name for the dragoness behind me as well as what is going to happen in the coming months. I have not seen Anea since I left the hospital, and I have a sneaking suspicion that that female in the black cape is up to something. My training with Quin Shun is most definitely going to come into great use when I have to face her or her minions again. Now with a dragon by my side, things are becoming complicated. I know Quin Shun will accept her and most likely train her with me, but what will happen if I need to go away to fight evil? All I hope is Quin Shun will Protect her while I am gone.

The time goes by fast with the sky darkening quickly, the distance to my cabin lessening with every step, and I still have not thought of a name for her. It has to be something she will like, something prideful. I don't know many dragon names, only having heard the ones from Eragon. Tessiean? No. Zara? Maybe not. Salewen? Definitely not. Caelestis? Rykhel? Raesa? I sigh in frustration, slapping myself in the forehead just as I walk into a tree, falling back onto my butt again. "Damn it!" I shout out loud, pounding both my fists into the ground, keeping my head down. I shake it, trying to clear the pain away as I look up at the tree and curse.

I sit there for a few seconds thinking of nothing before I get up, setting my right hand on my forehead and mutter a few words to dull the pain. As I can think once more, a thought jumps to my mind and my eyes widen, and I know that she will love it. I turn to her, troubles and fears forgotten in the instant as I know what her name will be with my hands at my sides and a big smile on my face. "How about... Rheria?" I question, ready to tell her the other names I came up with if she does not like this one.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I follow you quietly before noticing you smacking right into a tree and fall, causing me to let a sharp eeping sound before I rush up to you, licking and nuzzling. I stop when you get back up and lay still thinking before smiling back. "I love it! Such a pretty name. Now don't be silly and get yourself hurt, that's the last thing we need." I nuzzle your chest purring before getting back up ready to go.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I smile happily, glad that she took to the name. "Rheria it is then." I reply before continuing to walk back to my cabin, nervousness building inside of me. The wind eases me but my movement is stiff, my face straight with my hands calmly by my side. _What 'if' Quin Shun does not allow Rheria to follow me or stay? What will I do then? Would I consider leaving to be with her? I couldn't, I already committed myself to Protecting Earth and anyone on it while fighting evil. I just...I just hope he allows it,_I struggle with myself, shaking my head to clear away the bad thoughts.

I stop suddenly, a large open field in view with my cabin a ways off to the left and Quin Shun meditating on the ground to the right the same distance away. I breathe in steadily, looking at Quin Shun and his staff lying by his side. I turn my body around to address the newly named dragoness on what is going to happen. "Rheria, I want you to stay here and I will go and talk with my teacher. I will tell him that I found a dragon and about you. If we go inside my cabin, the wooden structure to the left, I do not want you to follow me. I will come get you soon. Be calm, and don't be scared." I explain, holding my left hand with palm out for a few seconds before turning and walking past the last trees and bushes to go towards Quin Shun, head held high and arms calmly beside me.

Killjoyrule:

I nod before waiting quietly in a corner hidden from view. I wish for him to accept me so I can stay here with you not knowing what I would do without the friendliness I was receiving from you, being generally scared for myself. This was basically my last ditch attempt at a good life.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I walk confidently towards Quin Shun, seeing his hands on his knees and eyes closed in focus or concentration. When I reach him I stop momentarily, hesitant on what to do, but continue to walk forward and sit down in front of him, waiting. I do not know how long it takes until he talks or what time it is, but when he does he surprises me like he always does. "How are you feeling now young Protector?" Quin Shun asks, casually opening his eyes and resting his posture.

I open my mouth and lean back slightly before responding, composing myself neatly. "I am well master. A bath at the waterfall did me good as well as a stroll." I reply, nodding my head respectfully.

"Good good, then we can get back to your training tomorrow morning." Quin Shun says, grabbing his flaming staff before standing up.

I follow, rising up as we both walk to my cabin with Quin Shun leading the way. I look over to my left at the spot where Rheria is hiding until the time I call her. I turn my head back to look past Quin Shun to my cabin, now more fully equipped for long duration living quarters. Once he had taught me how to materialize objects, training me with a pendent until I could do it with me own energy, my cabin had just two beds, a bathroom with no plumbing and a missing T.V. not yet built. Of course I had a storage of food downstairs; one half various candies, the other a variety of canned food. Since then I had materialized the plumbing and shaped my bed into something comfier with Quin Shun's help.

Quin Shun stops at the front door to my cabin, placing his staff down firmly in the ground on his right side. I almost crash into him, wondering about what he will say when I tell him about Rheria, but he beats me to it. I back up a few steps to look quizzically at him, waiting for him to say something or continue inside.

"When will you invite your friend inside Colby?" He says, surprising me again, causing me to stumble back and nearly fall down again.

"H-how did yo-you know?" I ask shakily, watching as Quin Shun turns around to look at me. If I did not know better, I would have guessed he had sensed her the moment I came back, maybe even before that. Besides, he is a master at using energy and sensing it as well.

"I sensed a surge of energy inside the forest that felt unique besides your own. I could only figure out what it could be since I have a companion like her of my own." Quin Shun says, smiling.

"A-a companion of your own...like her?" I stutter, straightening out and turning to look in the direction Rheria is hiding. Quin Shun never said he had a companion, or that it was a dragon.

"Yes," He replies. "All Guardians have a companion or partner of varying species. They grow with us, learn and bond. And I would very much accept it if you could call her over here. It will be good to show you how to bond with another with energy." Quin Shun explains, also looking over to where Rheria is hiding.

I lower my head, thinking for a while about what he said. Companions working together, bonding and growing. Wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. Besides, she won't leave me anyway. I just don't want to drag her into this whole...mess, I ponder to myself, looking up to see Quin Shun watching me. I nod my head before closing my eyes and open my mind to send it in the direction where Rheria is.

"You can come out now, he knows you are there. He has a companion just like you and wants me to be with you. I can assure you he is nice, and most likely can talk to you too, but probably won't without mine or your permission." I say, opening my eyes again before telling Quin Shun she will be coming shortly. "I have to warn you though; she has no parents and is shy around strangers. She is also malnourished, her mother most likely not having taught her to hunt before passing on. I have three kills for her out in the woods where I protected with my energy." I explain, turning to look in the direction of Rheria to watch her cautiously emerge from the woods.

Quin Shun smiles, nodding his head in understanding. "Have no fear that she will be comfortable around me. It is good you took to feeding her. And if I had to guess, she passed out from using her energy from whatever she did?"

"...Yes," I answer after some time. "She thought I was a dragon, wandering why I had no tail. I was cooking some meet she offered me from the first kill I made from a buck. It caught fire and I burned my right calf and that is when she healed me with a golden mist. And her scales, a bright blue the same as her eyes." I ramble on, watching as she gets closer, the cabin about 50-75 yards away from the forest.

I do not see Quin Shuns eyes widen, his fluffy white eyebrows shifting from his facial expression. His long beard that reaches the ground, tied in numerous amounts of ribbon swings back and forth as he thinks to himself. _Although the dragoness thought him to be a dragon, I believe that is exactly what he is, as the white aura that is around him when he flies is in the shape of a dragon,_Quin Shun smiles, welcoming the small dragoness forward.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I slowly make my way over still very cautious. But soon I reach a nearby tree before I peak my head around curiously to see a strange man that very much interests me. He looked unlike anyone I had ever met so odd yet ... not. It was as if he had been made from the earth itself fitting so well into the surrounding world. I rush over to you after a bit of gathering my confidence, nuzzling and licking you while speaking in your head "I was soo scared you would have to leave me! I would have not known what to do... Maybe even died." I continue my over eager assault on you, licking every inch I can reach in relief.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I smile when Rheria approaches, looking at Quin Shun carefully. I stumble back again when she starts nuzzling and licking me, telling me how scared she was. I open my mouth in an unsure grin, moving my arms to hold her while calming her. "It's ok Rheria, I would never leave you. And I don't think dying would have been necessary." I reply, patting her with my right hand behind her head, scratching roughly until she calms down and backs off long enough so I can regain my composure.

I breathe a sigh of relief, lifting my right arm to scratch the back of my own head as Quin Shun introduces himself. "Hello there dragoness. It is nice to meet you. I can assure you that I mean you no harm." He says, swinging his staff in front of his chest to take a small bow of respect. "You are welcomed to stay here as long as you want, but seeing as how you are attached to my apprentice Colby here, I kindly ask you let him train with me when he needs to so he can become stronger. I can also train you so you can learn how to use your energy more efficiently, Hmm?" Quin Shun asks, resuming his straight posture while speaking.

Meanwhile I kneel down next to Rheria, putting my left arm carefully around her back and over her wings to calm her while Quin Shun speaks with her. I place my right hand on her chest, moving it around gently as I wait for her to respond.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I smile back, holding myself close and purring to every bit of affection I receive. "I'm so glad you are here for me..." I say quietly, my tail wrapping around yours before I stare at Quin Shun. "Thanks for letting me stay. I don't know what I would do without your apprentice. He's everything to me now." smiling widely I nuzzle Quin Shun and purr. "And I would like to learn how to use my energy so I can help Colby. I want to help him with whatever he has to do."

StarLight Nova:

** ** Quin Shun chuckles when the dragoness nuzzles me, spreading his arms wide as he looks at me for clarity. I smile and say that she said she thanked him for letting her stay and would like to learn how to use her energy to help me with whatever I have to do. "Why of course little one, it is my pleasure to help you learn. Although it will take some time before you can assist Colby in his job as a Protector, but I will see to training you properly on how to use it." Quin Shun says, turning to open the door to my Cabin.

I rub Rheria's chest a few more times before standing up to follow him, looking back and beckoning you to follow me. Inside my cabin, Quin Shun walks towards the wall with the T.V and sits down facing the opposite wall with his staff on the floor to his right, still in flames. I come in and stand next to the wall of my bedroom near Quin Shun. When you enter, Quin Shun addresses you. "Now, young dragoness, sit in front of me, and I will tell you how we will go about your training.

Killjoyrukle:

** ** She does follow smiling to herself at how well this all went, her tail swinging in delight. Soon they reach inside the very well made cabin and she looks around in obvious delight at the new surroundings. I sit down in front of Quin Shun and listens intently. "How can I understand him? I don't understand a word he's saying yet... I do somehow from you."

StarLight Nova:

** ** Hearing Rheria question on how she can hear Quin Shun, I frown, telling him in hopes of finding out how it is possible. "Ah, yes, that is something special," Quin Shun says, looking at me then at Rheria. "I have a companion who is a dragon like you, although he is not here right now. His name is Ailadan. As for how you are able to understand me, I bet you, Colby, have formed a bond with her, although it may be weak right now. And through that bond, you are able to understand me through Colby." Quin Shun explained.

"I guess that makes sense in a way. Since I know what you are saying, Rheria knows what you say." I reply, leaning against the bedroom wall.

"So her name is Rheria? That is a nice name for her, very befitting," Quin Shun says. "Now, for your training, I will have you first start off with meditation. You must have a clear mind and know what your goal is before you can use your energy." Quin Shun says.

Killjoyrule:

** "** Ohh ok. How many dragons are there left, there seems to be so little in the world I thought I might of been the last one. And I would like to learn how to meditate. Colby was the one who named me; my mom wasn't there to name me. She fell asleep and wouldn't awake at all." I said repeating the story of what happened to my mom.

StarLight Nova:

** ** Quin Shun falls silent and I lower my head, neither quite wanting to sadden the young dragoness. Quin Shun then looks at me and I catch the movement of his head and sigh. "There are no dragons on Earth Rheria. There myth, fantasy. Until now, everyone thinks of them as stories." Colby says sadly out loud and mentally to Rheria.

Quin Shun nods, adding something about his dragon. "And Aidalan is not on this planet. I am a Guardian, and so I and nine others reside somewhere else in the universe with our companions. I have lived long enough to where I can feel his emotions all the way from here, but not communicate. I...am sorry young one." Quin Shun says, watching to see her reaction.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I sit there a bit stunned and blinking a few times before tears form in my eyes. "But... I can't be the last one... my mom had to have had a mate, what about my father? I..." I break down right there crying wishing I was not so alone... at least I had you.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I jerk my head up when you start crying, rushing over to calm you. I kneel in front, wrapping my arms firmly around you and whispering soothing words. "It is ok Rheria, I did not mean to upset you. I am sure your father is still out there somewhere. I...I am sure Quin Shun will help look for him." I say, looking back over my shoulder to watch Quin Shun think.

Meanwhile I lean my body tighter against you while laying my head against your neck, rubbing my left hand up and down the base of your neck with my right hand holding you against me. Quin Shun closes his eyes for a while, listening to me calm you mentally and to your sad tears before he speaks. "No training tomorrow. Take some time to settle down. I will leave to try and find your father, 'if' he is still alive. I set no guarantee though. There are many a men on this world that would want to capture and study a dragon. Colby, since she is attached to you, calm her down as much as you can. Take her back to the waterfall and heat up the water as some training while I am gone." Quin Shun explains, reaching to take his staff before standing up.

Killjoyrule:

** ** I just lay in your grasp, hugging myself tightly to you as a means of comfort. Over time my tears lessen but never really stop, my sides aching from sobbing. Soon though I just relax into the grip feeling sad that my race was likely doomed to die out with me, but your words do help to comfort me as I realize that maybe, just maybe everything would be all right as long as I had you with me.

StarLight Nova:

** ** I look up and nod as Quin Shun opens the door and walks out, going back to comforting Rheria as she cries. I sooth her for what seems like a long time before she calms down, relaxing in my grip. "Let's get you to bed." I whisper, positioning myself on your right side to pick you up.

I bring my left hand down near your tail base and my right hand around your neck. I gather my energy, remembering how I just exhausted myself not too long ago. "Rheria, stand up a bit would you please on your hind legs?" I ask kindly, showing a mental picture of what I am planning to do.

When she moves, I clutch her neck against my shoulder, bringing her head over my back while holding her rear against my body. My knees buckle as I struggle to maintain enough energy to strengthen my limps to hold you. I breathe in and out calmly a few times and lift up, carrying you over my shoulder. My eyes flicker open as I try to wake up but the suppression is still there. The presence comes closer; sweeping away the weight that blocks my senses, clearing away the darkness to reveal light. I can think clearly once more and I open my eyes to look around, everywhere I see just as unending as the inky blackness before. A reassuring emotion moves into my mind, steadying my fear as I wonder why I can't move. I can feel a vast power radiating from far away, something primitive, no; old that stirs to make itself known to me. I push back tentatively in a question. Who are you?

There is no response for some time as sensations gradually come back to my body. I can feel I am laying down on something soft, the noise dimming in the background like waking up from a deep dream. Before my mind can wonder, it responds with another emotion and a picture of the vastness of space and unending life. I twist my head from side to side; trying to find where the presence is coming from but stop when I find it is useless so I stare up. I think for a while to find out what it could mean; going back to the ancient memories that zoomed past while I was in the darkness.

Happiness now emits from the presence, communication turning into a guessing game and in return it laughs, well, not laughs but, you get what I am trying to say. Next it pictures a dragon, tall and with strong silver scales on four legs while emitting a show of pride and strength in my mind. I frown, both physically and mentally as I am confused to what it means. The picture and emotions vanish to be replaced by two figures, clouded and masked. One appears to be a human while the other is a dragon.

I shake my head, not getting where whatever it is communicating with means. The presence slows down, seeming sad, lonely before perking up. Before I can console it, saying I am sorry, a bright flash of light appears directly above my head over my chest. I shut my eyes and scrunch my face as it dims and I peek out again. Once I know I won't be blinded, I stare at what seems to be a blue orb or flames contained in a sphere that moves like water. I tilt my head in confusion and the sphere of flames seems to shimmer, changing to bright silver before flaring down to blue. It then changes to white and then blue again. I shrug mentally, not getting what it wants.

Its emotions burst to make me cringe, my whole body tensing up as if something is attacking me. It only lasts for a second before a wave of soothing emotions comes into my mind again. Somehow, I can feel like it wants to give me something but I don't know what. I hesitantly accept and the blue orb changes colors again, fading to silver, then white, then to back to blue before changing to bright red while it falls to my chest. I do not squirm or even try to as it descend, feeling swaths of great energy emitting from the flaming sphere. It gradually sinks into my chest and I suddenly feel invigorated again, full of life and energy that is my own. The presence fades while I rejoice, my mind going blank as I fall into sleep again to soon wake up.

** ** After I wash myself up I make my way to you quietly, nuzzling and licking your chest lovingly. I wondered how long it would take for you to wake up, your breathing giving away that your sleep seemed normal now. I hug onto you, my purrs loud and my body warming you to a very pleasant temperature. My egg chamber felt heavier and full, as if something formed in it whilst I slept.

** ** My mind eventually comes to again, the sensation of rays of light shining down onto me while I lay on what feels like grass. I start to move, hands twitching as I try to open my eyes. Another mind reemerges into my consciousness and it feels familiar while I sense a large presence around me, giving off a lot of warmth. Memories start to come back to me as I remember where I am and why that mind feels familiar. My eyes snap open immediately and I try to move but a scaly body stops my actions. I pause to look around, staring at the clouds as the noise of the waterfall comes back to me.

I take in a deep breath and look to my right to see a scaly light blue head. "Rheria!" I shout, eyes widening while moving my arms and legs more insistently until I am sitting up in the exact place I fell even if I do not remember that part. My breathing comes fast but calm as I examine myself, seeing that I am naked with my member limp between my legs and dried cum on my thighs, memories coming to me of what I had done. I touch my chest to feel it slick and wet, turning to Rheria again in relief. "What happened?" I ask, feeling a cool breeze flow past, making me shiver slightly, causing me to wonder how long I was out.

** ** I move my hand to try and deter your licking but give up soon after and rest my hand on your neck when you lay down, purring next to me. "No, well, I do remember mating with you, but I don't remember anything that happened after I climaxed," I reply, looking over to the lake and waterfall, images flashing in my mind of the games we played. The bond we share grows back stronger than before but not to where we can feel each other's emotions or sensations automatically. "I am sorry I worried you," I say, turning back to look into your eyes, feeling the love we now have for one another take root in my mind. "But I must ask, did you find it pleasing?" I question, moving my right hand up and down your warm scaly neck.

When you pause and say there is something in your egg chamber that might have been left after we mated, I frown. Humans can't impregnate dragons; it is impossible for me to have made her gravid; I contemplate to myself, feeling her roll onto her back. I look back, turning my whole body so that I am facing her, watching her face plead me to rub her stomach.

I...this is not possible. She, she was in heat, and she is a magical creature, so...maybe they are unfertile_?_ I think to myself, shaking my head and inching forward while on my knees to place my hands on your stomach. I begin moving them around, looking down between your hind legs to indeed see a small bulge there. "I...I think your gravid with eggs Rheria," I finally respond, turning to look at her face, wings spread out and tail wagging in delight. "I am not quite sure, but it is a possibility since we are both magical in some way and you were in heat when I had sex with you." I state, pushing harder against your scales while feeling their detail under the palm of my hands.

** ** I give a contented growl as you rub my belly purring. I giggle out when you rub across a very sensitive position, tickling me and making me swing my tail around. "Eggs? Are they.... really eggs? Maybe they will hatch." I perk my ears up in excitement sniffing along where your hand is.

** **"I do not know for sure if they will hatch," I answer truthfully, looking back between your hind legs as I stop moving my hands, feeling you sniff one of them. "They...They might be unfertile since we are incompatible. I-it just does not seem right that two different species can produce eggs, one a reptile and the other a mammal even if they are both magical," I say, feeling guilty about dashing your hopes of being a parent. "I do want to have kids...hatchlings with you Rheria, I just don't think it is possible. It might just be that because you were in heat, your body produced eggs although they would be unfertile." I explain, turning to stand up and look around.

I spot my clothes where I last left them with my staff in front of the rock nearby. I look at your face one more time before walking to the shore. "I am sorry Rheria...I...I need to wash off. I think I may have lain in that position for too long." I mumble, raising my right arm to rub my neck, feeling my joints creak and wince on how sore they are, my guess is because of our mating. I wade into the water, soon diving down to swim forward a few feet before resurfacing. I wouldn't blame her if she wanted to leave. I feel so bad for saying otherwise, I think to myself. _Man am I a bad mate, if that is what we are now. ** ** I felt crushed hearing all of this, slinking off to a tree and laying down still shocked. After a bit the initial shock wears of as I start to cry to myself curled up in a tight ball. I had just ruined any sliver of a chance my species had. I mated with an incompatible love and bonded to him for life. My species mated for life soo... even if there was another male dragon it was over. But... I still loved my sweet one to death. I had to be there for him no matter how much I wish I could just curl up and die in my despair. Plus.... just maybe he was wrong... maybe they can be fertile. I continued to sob to myself just trying to let out all that emotion I was feeling and trying to hide it from you so you wouldn't feel bad, although it was pretty obvious.

** ** I turn around once I am in the middle of the lake to watch you walk slowly to a tree. With our bond I can feel that you are hurting because of what I said, not daring to probe as it might make it worse. For now, I let you have some time alone as I have to think about what is happening myself. I dive under the water, kicking my legs to splash the surface as I swim towards the bottom, leveling out and twisting to head towards the waterfall. The sound is multiplied underwater and it sooths me, Quin Shun having brought me here to meditate for my training.

I surface right next to the waterfall, the drops that hit me sting but I block out the pain, swimming forwards to locate the smooth rock that I sometimes meditate on in front of the cave. I bring my hands up to pull myself up, my mind unfeeling like I was in that black void of nothingness. My face is passive as I lift my right leg up, yellow hair getting matted down by the torrent of water above me. My left hand slips, not paying any attention to where I place my hands as I fall, scrapping my right knee and plunging back into the water. The pain is immense as blood trickles out of the gash and into the lake.

"Fucking Shit!" I yell, closing my eyes and slamming both my fists down onto the surface of the water in frustration and anger. Unbeknownst to me, instead of small plumes of water being displaced by my fists, the whole lake rises up momentarily before dropping down.

I breathe heavily, trying to stay calm and regain my thoughts while fighting the pain. If Quin Shun wants me to endure pain, then here is that pain, I say shakily in my mind, not angry at him but at my mistake. My whole body shakes as it heals itself, the regenerative liquid eventually stopping the flow of blood and putting new skin over the area. After a few tense minutes I unclench my fists and wrap my arms around me. "So stupid." I whisper to myself.

I open my eyes and look at the rock, seeing the red bloodstain washing away quickly from where I bashed my knee. I swallow, uncrossing my arms and swim forwards again, placing my hands in a more secure spot and heave myself up again, turning to sit crossed legged facing out to the forest. I can see in the corner of my eye where Rheria is, but I let her be for now. I bring my hands together in the dip between my legs, touching fingertip to fingertip as I close my eyes and begin to breathe deeply, calming myself as much as I can.

** ** I feel your pain through our bond after you hurt yourself, looking to see the lake rise and fall. I lay there still thinking of how sad it all was but I knew everything would work out. The second I had met you I felt like we were just meant to be together no matter what. I just never knew it would be like this.

** ** My body stops shivering after I have slowed my breathing for about half an hour. All the events that have happened so far just make me either more confused or cause me pain. Finding Rheria, was like seeing myself as I was the only Protector I know of. Watching her try to hide in the cave behind me, I would never hurt her. Once her heat came, I admit it took some time to think through, but I am glad I made the decision to become her mate, even if I had to tell her the eggs she carries might be unfertile. I know I must give her time alone, I still can't quite remember what happened after I supposedly passed out when I climaxed. When I woke up though, I felt full of energy, like the entire sun was inside of me.

The waterfall pours down on me relentlessly as I meditate for a few hours. The sun starts to fall, the sky slowly darkening. Sometime later I open my eyes, feeling the water rush over my body. I carefully stand up before jumping back into the lake, swimming forward to resurface. I shake my head and clear my eyes, looking over to where you rest near a tree. My face falls as I tentatively reach out with my mind to connect with yours, pulling back as I make my way towards the shore while thinking of ways to saying sorry. Once my feet touch the ground I wade out of the water, drying myself off only a little and not even caring to put my clothes back on.

I walk straight towards you, shivering slightly as the wind picks up, the grass beneath my feet giving no comfort to me. When I am within a few feet, I crouch down, looking at your light blue scales, the detail they hold, your wings, tail, neck and head. I tilt my head down in shame and stand up, going the last few feet to sit down and gently lift your left wing and hung you tightly around the neck. My member still hangs limp, my hair wet and spiky in the afternoon sun.

"I am sorry," I whisper, holding you closer to me. "I am so sorry about what I said. I should not have made you sad. I am your mate, and you are mine," I continue, voice muffled as I press my face against your scales, the warmth gradually seeping into me. "I should be glad that you are gravid, not discourage you that they may not hatch. I am happy I impregnated you. I just could not believe it was possible. I love you so much Rheria." Tears begin streaming down my eyes, the occasional sniffle escaping me.

** ** When you hug onto me I give a small purr in appreciation, soon I get really worried though when I notice you sounding so sad. "I love you my pretty one. Don't be so sad, I'll be all right.... I don't like seeing you upset." I give a little whimper at your crying. "Its ok sweetie, you are just being realistic... you're probably right too, I'll live on still though. I don't want you to feel guilty. I love you so very much to."

** **"I don't like seeing you sad either." I reply, joining our minds together so that I can tell you how much you mean to me while tightening my grip. The thought that I even made you gravid excites me even if we may not be able to sire hatchlings. After a few seconds I calm down and release you, trailing my hands up your neck as I pull away to place them on either side of your muzzle. I stare into your eyes while I show you all my feelings I have for you before leaning forward and opening my mouth to kiss you.
