This is a collaboration I worked on with YeaniaAeon off and on for about a year. This started out of a discussion between Yeania and myself about expanding the world setting from Moonlight Whinny and Moonlight Walk (which I will be posting shortly). I suggested weresharks, because I just like sharks, and I'm already writing one werewolf story. Originally this was posted on Fur Affinity as two separate chapters, but I have combined them for posting here.

Jason Delmar is a young man who has just turned eighteen. As a wereshark that means on the full moon tonight he will shift for the first time into a shark. He was discussing things with his parents when his girlfriend, Sharon Downs, overhears part of their conversation.

Chapter 1

The door to the bedroom slowly opened and a smiling face peered in. The middle aged man still had a youthful exuberance that was evident on his face as he tip-toed to the bed. Holding back a laugh he gripped the bed sheets tightly and whipped them off the sleeping form on the bed.

“Time to wake up, Jason!” Before the young man could even twitch, his dad pulled open the curtains filling the dim room with sunlight. “Happy eighteenth birthday, son!” he said cheerfully.

Jason groaned as he looked up bleary-eyed at his dad. “Sometimes I wish you would stop acting like you’re my mom.

“Well, technically I am your mom.” His dad responded with a chuckle.

Jason only groaned and covered his head under his pillow.

“Come on, captain grumpy pants, tonight's the night! we’re going to hold a party on the beach to celebrate your birthday, and you’ve already slept half the day away.”

Jason looked at his clock and saw it was just past noon. He tossed his pillow at his dad, but then his eyes were drawn to his mirror. Jason’s reflection smirked back at him.

“Fuck “he swore softly with a groan as he got up.

He hadn’t really undressed from last night, just discarded his socks and shirt, sleeping in his shorts through the morning. Jason pulled a reasonably clean shirt from off of a chair while his dad decided to be a busybody and pick up some of the laundry from the ground.

His dad looked up in his chipper way and smiled. “Go on downstairs, your mom cooked some lunch for you, love”

Grumpily Jason walked down the hall. Stopping at the bathroom first, he looked into the mirror and his reflection, appearing somehow to be a more feminine version of himself, was waving back.

“Oh great, my birthday means my other half gets a lot more talkative, doesn’t it?” He said as he lifted the seat to the toilet.

His reflection laughed “Come on, I know I’ve been awfully nice to you the past few weeks, letting you get used to it. But tonight’s not about talking, I get to play around in the real world. In a sense, you could say it’s my birthday as well.”

Jason shrugged before flushing the toilet and heading downstairs. As he walked down the stairs he could instantly smell the food his mother was cooking. He made his way through the open plan living room and into the kitchen. The doors to the deck were open, letting the cool ocean breeze into the home. His mom was busy at the stove. She was dressed in a tee-shirt and board shorts. With her short hair one could mistake her for a man from a distance.

"There you are." she smiled and turned around. "I was hoping you weren't going to sleep your entire birthday away." She then turned back to flip the cutlet she was frying.

"Mom, how much did you cook?" Jason said as he saw the spread laid out on the kitchen island.

"First of all, I know how hungry you are feeling, I was eighteen once too, you know."

"Mom…"

"And secondly, you're not the only one shifting tonight." She smirked before turning back to the stove.

Jason sighed and picked up an empty plate. He selected a BLT and spicy chicken cutlet sandwich and then poured himself a large glass of orange juice.

"Did you have a good time last night with your friends?" His mom said as she turned off the stove. "I know you came in late."

"I told you not to wait up."

"I didn't, your dad did. He just woke me up to let me know you were back home."

"Yeah, that sounds like dad." Jason sighed before taking a large bite out of his BLT.

"Seriously though, you'll want to pack away the food. Chances are your other half will gorge themselves tonight and you'll still wake up hungry tomorrow." As if to make her point, Cory took a large bite out of a ham and cheese sandwich. "Mmmm, shifting burns a lot of calories."

"I know mom, I've been watching you and dad on the full moon for my entire life."

His mother just wore a very knowing smile as she watched her son drain his juice. As Jason was eating he saw his dad sneaking up to his mother. However, his mother spun around and grabbed her husband tightly and pressed her lips tightly against his. As his parents made out Jason chucked and shook his head.

“Do you two have to do that in front of me? Just because it’s going to be my first were-shift, doesn’t mean you two can just be open everywhere now.” he sighed before biting into his BLT.

“Your first were-shift?”

Jason nearly choked on his sandwich as soon as he heard the voice of his girlfriend, Sharon, came in through the open deck door. His parents quickly untangled themselves and brushed down their clothing before Sharon came through the door.

Jason looked a bit panicked. Did she overhear me? Jason thought to himself as he looked between his parents and girlfriend. I just turned eighteen, I can't already be in trouble with the Council!

Sharon walked to the table and sat down next to Jason. She locked eyes with him, waiting on an explanation.

“Ah, you must have misheard me. Were-shift? I mean, like, what would that even be? Like in the movies when werewolves go from human to fuzzy?“ This got a soft chuckle from his mom and Jason quickly shot her a look.

“Jason," Sharon's voice had that certain tone that meant he was one step away from trouble, “I heard most of the conversation you had with your mother. Would you care to explain it to me? Oh, and don't lie to me. I've known you since kindergarten, I know when you're fibbing."

Jason looked to his parents for help. After all, this could mean big trouble for the whole family. His parents exchanged a quiet look before they looked back at their son and shrugged.

Cory was the first to speak "Honestly, I don't know how you managed to keep it a secret from her all these years."

"You couldn't even keep what her birthday gifts were from her growing up. I'd say you did a decent job of maintaining the veil with Sharon." Fabian giggled. "You might as well just tell her, she's your girlfriend after all."

"Veil? Mr. Delmar, what are you talking about? Jason, talk to me." she crossed her arms.

"Don't be too hard on him,” Cory said with a shrug, “Our kind is raised to be careful when talking about these things in front of humans.”

“Wait, what? Humans? Sharon was blinking looking between the members of the family. “What do you mean?”

“Geez, mom! Either help or don’t; that’s only making things worse.” Jason took a deep breath. “I’m probably already in trouble so here it goes. The werewolf thing isn’t exactly that far off.”

“Now I’m insulted.” His dad tried to look serious, but failed.

“Dad, please!” Jason glared at his father. “Sharon, this is going to sound crazy, but my family, we’re, ah, weresharks.”

Sharon chuckled a bit. “Next you're going to say frog people exist “

Cory chuckled. “Well I don’t know any personally, but yeah they exist, along with many more.” Cory took a seat opposite Sharon and her husband joined her. “Just go ahead and explain the basics of it.”

“Why me?” Jason looked a bit exasperated.

“Because she asked you, not us.” Fabian said with a little smirk.

“Fine. Once we turn eighteen, every full moon we change forms.”

“Oh really,” Sharon gave him an incredulous look, “Like a werewolf?”

“Yeah, just like that.” Jason sighed. “We can shift between a full animal form or something in between an animal and a human.”

“And you,” she pointed at him, “turn into a shark?”

“I will tonight, but there's more to it than that.”

“What, like a whole secret society thing?”

“Well, yes, but that’s not what I’m talking about. You see there’s another personality that takes over when we shift.”

“Oh please, as if this story wasn’t silly enough.”

“Our other halves are no joke.” Cory spoke up. “And for sharks they tend to bleed over and really affect us the rest of the month. You wouldn’t know it, but before Bob started showing up I was quite the girly girl. I still was a surfer, mind you, but I wore pink and dresses and talked about boys.”

“Bob?” Sharon raised an eyebrow.

“Bob, my other half. He’s male, so when I shift I become a male shark.”

“Right, and I suppose Mr. Delmar becomes a girl?”

“Right on the nose! Then again, it’s pretty obvious when you think about it, I’m not the most masculine guy on the beach.” Fabian shrugged while smiling.

“Dad…”

“You’ve still got it where it counts, love.” Cory reached over and placed her hand on her husband’s crotch.

“Mom!”

Sharon chuckled at the interaction and Jason's reaction. Truth be told, she was always slightly jealous of Jason's relationship with his parents. Sharon's parents were always fighting and yelling, if not at each other than at her. The Delmars, however, had always been there for her over the years. Maybe that was why she was willing to entertain the idea of them not being completely human.

"So, if you guys all have an alternate personality, what's yours then Mr. Delmar?"

"Oh, her name is Amaka." He said, giving his shoulder length hair a flip.

"Ah, that's a pretty name." She then turned back to Jason. "And what about you? Do you know what your were-side is named?"

"We say, other half." Jason was shifting on his seat, looking uncomfortable. "She calls herself Bailey." He said before shoving his sandwich into his mouth.

Sharon kept her eyes on Jason as he tried to just keep his mouth full of food. "Last time I checked, that's a female name, so you're going to be like your dad, huh?"

"Well…" Cory interjected, "It's a bit more complicated than that. Weresharks come in male, female, and everything in between. You don't really know for sure until you shift for the first time."

"It can take a bit to get used to it when you don't grow up with it." Fabian shrugged. "Jason grew up with us and the rest of our family being this way."

The young woman sighed deeply. "I think I’d rather be around a family of sharks that pretends to be human, than humans pretending to be a family." Sharon looked down. “Jason is lucky to have you both.”

Cory gave her husband's hand a squeeze before she spoke. "Sharon, I know things have always been rough for you at home, and lately they have only been getting worse. Jason told us you are already planning to move out as soon as you can."

"Yeah,” she sighed heavily, “if it wasn't for school I'd already have left."

"We’ve been getting more worried about it as time goes by. We never liked your parents all that much to begin with.” Cory shook her head, “I worry that things are going to go too far if you continue to live with them.”

Fabian’s eyes narrowed and Sharon realized she had never seen an expression like that on his face like that before, even when Jason was in trouble. It looked so out of place the flamboyant and jovial Mr. Delmar. It was a little scary, but Sharon was glad he was on her side in all of this.

“Sharon,” Cory said softly, “I know this is a little sudden but I,” she paused when Fabian cleared his throat, “we want to ask you something. Do you want to become part of our family?"

Sharon blinked. "What?"

"It's not just about saving our tails with the Council,” Fabian shook his head, “we were already talking about it. We were planning on offering after Jason's first time. We didn't like the idea of you being all on your own without any support. But, since the shark is already out of the net, I don’t see any point in putting it off."

“After watching you grow up with Jason, we couldn't watch you have to fight to work, go to college, and still have to find a place to live." Cory continued. "Assuming you did accept our offer, we would have to tell you the truth about our family.”

"I-" Sharon's eyes started to tear up.

Jason put an arm around her and pulled her close. "You didn't say anything about this to me." he said looking over at his parents.

"Like your dad said, we were going to wait until after tonight. It's a lot, your first time I mean.” Cory said with a slight shrug. “But, even if things had gone according to plan, we would have to bring her into the family. I'm pretty sure she would figure things out on the first full moon when we're out on the beach in our sharkskin."

"I mean…yeah, I guess…I just think I should have been part of the conversation, she is my girlfriend."

"I know dear.” His mother leaned in towards him. “But do you think we would really let you date a human if we didn't think about the possibility of Sharon being invited in?" She raised an eyebrow and his father giggled.

Jason’s cheeks flushed. "I…"

"You're lucky you grew up in this day and age.” Fabian giggled. “Your great-grandmother would have taken a bite out of me if I was dating a human, let alone sleeping with one."

Sharon snapped her head back to her boyfriend and practically growled. "You told your parents?"

Jason continued to flush as he tried to stutter out an apology.

"Heh, you two weren't exactly hiding it.” Cory said, stepping in to save her son. “And it's fine, I know you are both being safe about it. That’s what matters in our culture."

Sharon let out a long sigh, but the look in her eyes told Jason they were not done discussing this. She then turned back to his parents.

"If I were to stay here with you guys and Jason, what would I have to do?"

"Well, in the old days you would have to get married.” Fabian sighed. “But since the human world has gotten a lot more lax about things, these days we can bring you into the family, sort of like adopting you in. That removes any issues with the veil."

"You said that before, what does the veil mean exactly?"

Jason answered for his parents. "It's keeping our existence secret from humans in general."

"Ok, but why?"

Cory let out a sigh. "Take a look at history, dear. Humans aren't known for being very accepting of each other. How would they treat people that change into bestial forms every full moon? To the average human we would be nothing but monsters."

"That's…yeah, I see your point when you put it like that.." She picked up a ham sandwich from the table and took a bite, thinking as she chewed. "But that sucks! You are great people, you're like everyone's favorite coach at school, and Mr. Delmar is always volunteering at every charity and school event. You two are both pillars of this community!"

Fabian let out a small sigh. "As my grandmother always said, a monster isn't what you are, but what you do."

"The same grandmother who would take a bite out of you for dating a human?" Jason asked with a smirk.

Fabian reached over and flicked his son's nose. "She grew up in a different time, cut her some slack."

Sharon took another bite out of her sandwich. "So…Is there some kind of ceremony or something?"

Fabian laughed. "Oh god no! We're not wolves!"

"Babe, let's not get into that." Cory turned back to Sharon. "It's more a matter of a little paperwork filed with the Council, the rest just…happens."

"Just happens, huh. Do you bite me, like in the movies, or is that just superstition?"

"Yeah, that’s how it works, they got that part right at least, along with the silver. A little nibble is enough.” Fabian made a show of fake biting his fingertips. “Then when the full moon rises you shift just like little Jason will tonight.”

"That sounds a little scary, it won't leave a scar, will it?"

Cory smiled and leaned towards her. "Growing up around him, did you ever notice how quickly Jason healed from scrapes and bruises?"

"I, ah, now that you mention it, he always healed fast.” Sharon took another bite of her sandwich as she thought about it. “Thinking back, I asked him once about it in middle school." She turned back to Jason. "You said it ran in the family."

"It wasn’t a lie.” Jason shrugged. “Just being born a wereshark kept me healthy and helped me heal."

"Yes, if he had been a human boy his hide wouldn't have made it to eighteen unscared." Cory shook her head, "a small wound like a bite would heal quickly."

"Even quicker with a shift. Growing shark skin is one hell of a skin treatment." Fabian ran a hand gently over his cheek for emphasis.

That made Sharon smile and even start to chuckle. For all the secrets, the Delmars had so much that was out in the open if she knew what to look for. She then remembered the shark tooth necklaces both Mrs. and Mr. Delmar wore all the time.

"Those necklaces you both wear, are those made from your own teeth?"

"Well, this is Cory's tooth, or should say Bob's." Fabian held up the tooth on the chain.

"It's a common thing with shark couples." Cory placed her fingers over the tooth hanging around her neck. "It might seem a little creepy, having my husband's, or Amaka’s tooth if you prefer, hanging there. But we always shed a few teeth every moon, and wedding bands don't work for us as well as necklaces do in all honesty.

"That's actually kind of sweet really. I always knew they were special to you both, and now I understand just how special they are."

Sharon sat quietly and finished her sandwich as she thought about things. "Hey, Jason. If I'm doing this, I'll need a few things from home. Could you come with me to help?"

"Are you sure? Your Dad has been giving me the stink eye ever since sophomore year."

"Honestly mom isn't a big fan of yours either. But I can't get all my stuff out of the house and over here by myself.

"Maybe I should go." Cory said standing up. “If there’s going to be any trouble I can handle it better, and they'll respect me a bit more than a kid they don’t like.”

"No, please Mrs. Delmar, you stay here. Dad is probably sleeping off last night's booze, and mom was already out of the house when I left. I can get in and out easier with just Jason. I already have my important documents hidden away in my room, I just need clothes, my laptop, and a few other important items to move out. We'll need you here when they come after me, because we both know they won’t just let me leave."

"I see you were thinking about this more than I thought. Well, your birthday was last month, you're eighteen. If you want to leave, they can't legally stop you. Still, I'll call a friend of mine down at the station. I'll let him know what's going on before your parents can call in some kind of BS report."

"Are they a shark too?" Sharon asked, growing more curious about their world.

"Jeremy is a horse, actually,” Cory pushed another sandwich towards her son. “though thankfully not a traditionalist."

"Thankfully, we don't have any of them in town. Worse than wolves if you ask me." Fabian crossed his arms.

"Don't bias Sharon before she's taught about our world." Jason said as he picked up the offered sandwich. “I know a bunch of wolves picked on you in high school, dad, but I’ve never had any problems. Besides, you even hired Dave last summer to work at the burger shop.”

“Dave’s a werewolf?” Sharon blinked.

“Not all of us are jocks.”

“I mean, I’ve met your dad, so I believe that. Dave is just so…skinny.”

“He’ll probably bulk up a bit after he shifts for the first time. Have you seen his older sister Jerica lately?”

“No, but I’ll take your word for it.” She sighed softly, “You’re going to have to fill me in on everyone at school.”

“That will be easier than you think.” Jason said before taking a large bite.

“What Jason is saying is we can tell when someone isn’t, well, human. We don’t know what kind they are, but we just know they are one on an instinctual level.” Cory glanced at the clock on the microwave. “You best get going before it gets late, You’ll both need to be ready for tonight before sunset.”

“We’ll draw up the paperwork and get in contact with the local council reps. I think a few owe me a favor or two so I can get things ready for tonight. You kids be safe,” Fabian turned to his son, “And don’t start anything, if they yell at you to leave, do so. If they won’t let Sharon leave, you call the police but do not get in a fight with them. We can’t have you in the lock-up tonight.”

“I know dad, I know.” Jason wrapped up what was left of his sandwich in a napkin. “Let’s get going, Sharon.”

“Ok.” she said as she got up off of her chair. “Mrs. Delmar, Mr. Delmar, thank you.” she smiled softly then took Jason by the hand. As they walked out onto the deck Cory and Fabian could hear Sharon ask Jason. “So, how much of our love life did you share with your parents exactly?”

Fabian chuckled as he reached for a sandwich for himself. Cory just shook her head and poured them both glasses of juice.

“We can’t just chow down for tonight, we need to get things set up for Sharon, as much for our tails as hers.” Cory said before taking a long drink.

“I know, I know.” Fabian pulled out his phone and started to scroll through his contact list. “You call Jeremy first, I’ll give Phil a call and see if I can get this expedited.”

“And what if we can’t?” Cory raised an eyebrow.

“Then it will be us begging for forgiveness, because I’m not letting anything else happen to that girl. She’s staying here with us and getting her sharkskin tonight along with Jason.”

Cory nodded. “Good we’re on the same page then.”

***

Sharon slowly and quietly opened the front door to her house. She stood still at the door for a moment, listening for any sounds before stepping over the threshold and motioning to Jason to follow her. He followed a few steps behind, moving as quietly as he could. They made their way carefully to Sharon’s bedroom. She let out a soft sigh after carefully closing the door behind her.

“Can you get my suitcase out from under the bed?” She whispered while walking towards her closet. I’ll get my paperwork from where I hid it.”

“Sure,” Jason nodded and got down on his knees.

As he pulled out a pair of suitcases he could tell they were at least partially packed already. Jason lifted them up onto the bed and looked around nervously. He wasn’t personally scared of Sharon’s father, Mr. Downs. Jason was taller and he was fairly certain he was stronger than him, but he was fearful of what the man could do to his own daughter. He caught Bailey smiling at him from the vanity mirror.

“Relax, it’s going to be ok.” She reassured him. “We’ll get her out of this hell hole and she’ll have one hell of a party tonight. I wonder what her other half will be like?”

Jason sighed, not wanting to respond to his reflection in front of Sharon just yet. It was strange enough growing up knowing what was going on with his parents doing that. He realized that was going to be an interesting conversation once they were back home.

“You know I want her safe too, right? I grew up with her right along with you.”

Jason nodded to his reflection and turned his attention back to Sharon. She was stuffing several large folders into her backpack.

“Ok, I think that’s everything I’ll need going forward. Birth certificate, social security card, passport, the works.”

“What else do we need to grab?”

“Grab my laptop while I get a few things.” Sharon said as she hurried over to her vanity.

Jason was just packing up the power cable when they heard the front door close.

“Shit! It’s mom!” Quick, take my bag and jump in the closet!”

Jason tried to question her but she pushed him along with her backpack into the closet. Sharon pushed the suitcase back under her bed just before her door was thrown open by Mrs. Downs.

She came to a sudden stop in the doorway “Oh, you’re here.”

“Is that a problem?” Sharon asked, raising an eyebrow. “It’s my room.”

“No, it’s a room in my house that I let you use.” Her mother corrected. “I was just making sure you weren't hiding drugs or anything in here.”

“Please mom, will you stop with that? I told you it was just some ibuprofen pills in my purse for my period. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, and I don’t do drugs!”

“That’s what every kid says, especially the ones on something.” Mrs. Downs crossed her arms. “Anyway, I thought you were going over to see your loser boyfriend for his birthday.”

“Yeah, I did, but Mr. and Mrs. Delmar had to take care of something. I’ll be going back for a birthday dinner, though. And Jason isn’t a loser.”

“Please, he’s on the swim team, a real man plays football.”

“What, like dad did? Cause he’s not what I would call a winner.”

In the closet Jason shook his head. Don’t antagonize her! Not now!

“What do you know? At least you don’t have a hamburger flipping fruit and a washed-out butch surfer for parents. We’re people with real jobs that others respect.”

Sharon glared at her mother for a moment before she started to speak in a low and steady voice. “Mr. Delmar owns and operates three food stands on the boardwalk. He makes more money in the summer than you and dad do all year combined, and that's not counting his seafood restaurant in town. Mrs. Delmar has more championships under her belt than any other coach at school. On top of that, she is respected as a teacher and coach by all the students, not just the ones on the swimming team.

“You’ll never get anywhere in life associating with low class people like the Delmars. I raised you better than this. As soon as I get you out of this town and into a good school you’ll see what I mean. You’ll find a real man that people can respect to be your partner.”

“What? Like my drunk of a father? People may have respected my granddad but not him. He’s just tolerated for his trust fund.”

Mrs. Downs’ hand reached out and smacked Sharon across the face. Jason heard the sound clearly from the closet and gritted his teeth.

“I don’t know what has gotten into you, but I won’t stand for it! You won’t be an embarrassment to me or this family, do you hear me?”

Sharon just glared at her mother, saying nothing.

“And you can forget about going over to that freak family house ever again!”

“We’ll just have to see what happens, won’t we?”

That earned her another smack from her mother before she left, slamming the door behind her.

“I’m getting your father, don’t you dare leave that room!”

Jason waited a moment before he opened the door to the closet. “What were you thinking? It’s going to be way harder to get out of here now!”

“I couldn’t take it any more.” Sharon angrily whispered as she put the privacy lock on her door. “I couldn’t help myself. Just get my bags, we don’t have time.”

“No shit.” He pulled the suitcases out from under the bed. “But we can’t just walk out now.”

“I have a plan.” She grabbed her laptop and finished packing it up.

“What? Jumping out the window?” When her eyes met his, Jason knew that was the plan. “Sharon…”

“It’s only one story, you go first and I’ll toss you the bags. Besides, it's not like there’s rose bushes under my windows.”

They could hear some shouting coming from down the hall.

“Come on, Dad’s awake for sure now.” She opened the window sash and popped out the screen.

Jason took a deep breath before following through with Sharon’s plan. He slowly climbed out the window, letting his legs dangle as low as possible before letting go. His landing wasn’t perfect, but he could still move. After getting back on his feet Sharon tossed her suitcases out the window which he easily caught.

There was a frantic pounding on her bedroom door. “Sharon! Open this door!” Her mother’s voice screamed.

“You’ve got five seconds to unlock this door before I kick it in!” Her furious father added as he hit the door harder

“I told you we should have removed the locks! This is your fault!” Mrs. Downs shouted at her husband

“Not now! Shut up!” Mr. Downs fired back without pausing his assault on the door.

“Shit! Here I come!” Sharon quickly climbed out of the window.

Jason managed to catch her and let her down onto the grass.

“Thanks, that was almost romantic.” She managed a quick smile as she slid down onto her feet.

“We got to go,” Jason glanced up at the window, “that door won’t last for long.”

“Sharon! Open this goddamn door!” her father roared from upstairs.

“Fuck, just run!” She said, picking up one of her bags and taking off towards Jason’s house.

“God damn it, I can’t believe we’re doing this…” Jason swore under his breath as he picked up the other suitcase and took off after Sharon.

Jason quickly caught up to her and they slowed down to a fast walk after several blocks and turning a corner.

“If Mom and Dad try yelling at me for jumping out the window…”

“Ok, ok, it wasn’t what I planned initially, but once mom showed up you weren’t making it out the front door.”

Jason shook his head and he shifted the suitcase to his other hand. Once they got the door open, The Downs were going to realize they went out the window. They could easily catch up to them in a car if they guessed where Sharon was heading. He wanted to call ahead to warn his parents, but that was impossible at the pace they were going while lugging a suitcase in one hand.

Sharon let out a sigh as they turned the last corner and were now just a block from the beach front homes. Her hope was that after her father busted through her door that her parents would fight instead of just running down to the car. She had no doubt they would head to the Delmar’s home first in their attempt to find her. As long as she was on the property before her parents tried anything she knew she would be safe. Seeing the front porch of the Delmar home, Sharron picked up the pace and started running again.

By the time they reached the front porch, Cory was opening the front door.

“Oh, god, what happened?” She asked, looking at the pair panting as they dropped the suitcases on the porch.

Before Cory could get an answer, they heard the sound of tires squealing as they took a turn far too fast without bothering to stop at the sign. They looked back and saw Mrs. Downs’ Lexus speeding down the street.

“Fuck, get inside! Both of you!” She pushed them into the home, “Fabian! Get out here!” She called and was almost instantly joined by her husband on the porch.

By then the Lexus had come to a stop with one wheel up on the curb. The Downs rushed out of the car which they left running and they rushed up towards the Delmars.

“Where’s my Daughter? Get her out here right now!”

“You can stop right there.” Cory stepped down from the porch and blocked the path forward. “You are not taking one step further onto our property.”

“You think you can get away with this? I’ll have you charged with kidnapping.” The irate mother bellowed.

“Oh that’s rich.” Fabian said as he joined his wife, glaring at the unwelcomed couple. “I’m afraid you can’t kidnap an adult who willingly wants to be here.”

“Shut your mouth! Give us Sharon!” The angry father shouted trying to intimidate the other man.

“She’s her own person, and as of last month she’s of age. If she wants to move out, she can and you can’t stop her.” Cory said as she crossed her arms and stared down the pair of them.

“Like hell we can’t! Move aside you freaks!” Mrs. Downs said as she tried to push past Cory.

Fabian cut her off. “You’re trespassing. Get off of our property, and stay off.”

“That’s it, I'm calling the police!” She said, reaching for her phone.

“Oh, don’t bother, I already called them.” Fabian said with a smirk, “I’m sure they’ll be here soon. And before you have any crazy ideas they are already aware your child is eighteen and not a run away.”

“You piece of shit!” Mr. Downs grabbed Fabian by the shirt.

“Go on, take your best shot, you drunk excuse for a man.” Fabian locked eyes with Mr. Downs. “I bet your wife hits harder anyway.”

Mr. Downs face was pure rage as he pulled back an arm to punch Fabian. The last thing he expected was for his wife to grab his arm.

“Stop! You idiot! The cops!” she shouted.

Mrs. Downs held him back until he could recognize the red and blue flashing lights all around them. He quickly released Fabian and stepped back. Two police cars had pulled up and officers quickly left their vehicles to approach the commotion.

“All right, everyone back off, now.” A tall officer ordered.

Cory and Fabian complied, taking a step back immediately. It took a hard stare from the lead officer before the Downs did the same.

“Officer! These…people are holding our daughter against her will!” Mrs. Downs practically shouted.

“We demand they release her immediately.” Mr. Downs added, trying his best to not look like he was still half drunk.

“Ma’am?” The cop asked, turning to Cory.

“Sharon has decided to move out from her parent’s home, and we’ve invited her to stay here.”

“Give me back my baby before you corrupt her you butch beach bum!” Mrs. Downs shouted.

“Yeah, she’s just a kid, she can’t move out!” Mr. Downs joined in.

“Jensen, you go talk to the daughter.” He motioned to his female partner. “Now, we are going to separate both parties so we can have a conversation without yelling at each other, Understand?”

The Delmars simply nodded, while the Downs just glared. The two officers from the other car escorted the angry couple back towards their poorly parked car.

The cop sighed loudly. “As if today isn’t hectic enough with the full moon tonight.”

“Sorry about all this, Jeremy,” Cory sighed, “I was hoping we could have moved out Sharon without an incident, speaking of which,” she turned and slugged Fabian in the arm, “What the hell were you thinking goading him on when he grabbed you?”

“Ow…” Fabian rubbed his bicep, “I’ve dealt with his kind plenty of times since my first moon. Nothing like attacking their masculinity to really cut them deep. Besides, what’s the worst he could do to me that won’t be healed by tonight?”

“Fabian,” Jeremy’s voice had a warning edge, “Instigating the assault would make you partially responsible. But since no fists were actually thrown, We’ll just not worry about any assault charges.”

“That’s fine, it’s not like that asshat even tore Fabian’s shirt.”

“But, I will be sighting them for that piss-poor parking job. Tell me, was he the one driving?”

Cory shook her head. “No, it’s her car and she was the one driving when they pulled up.”

“Can’t nail him for DUI then, what a shame.”

Cory smiled slightly. “Would you and your partner like some food before you go? We’ve still got plenty of sandwiches made inside.”

“Thanks, but the other two officers are humans, and I don’t want to raise any suspicions. Speaking of which, it looks like they’re done.”

Jeremy left the Delmars to talk with the other officers and was soon joined by Jensen.

“I spoke to the daughter,” Jensen started, “she backs up the Delmars’ story. I checked her ID and she turned eighteen last month.”

“Yeah, the parents confirmed her age,” Officer Simmons added, “the mother was under the belief that it didn’t count if she was still in high school.” He shook his head.

“So,” Officer Becker sighed, “we have a case of an adult child leaving her parents home under her own volition to move in with her boyfriend, who is also eighteen as of today, and her parents don’t like it then?”

“Yeah, sounds like she even jumped out her bedroom window to get away from them.” Jensen chuckled.

“Damn, I thought my parents were crazy.” Simmons said, shaking his head.

“You know how it goes sometimes. Anyway, the Delmars are good people, every local knows that. She’s safe here.” Jensen said with a nod.

“Let’s send the Downs home then, with a ticket for that parking job and a warning to stay away or face trespassing charges.” It was hard to hide the grin on Jeremy’s face.

The other officers nodded in agreement and they went to confront the Downs and send them on their way.

Sharon watched from the porch as her mother argued with the officers over the ticket they were writing. She was holding hands with Jason, still afraid her parents were going to rush past the police and try to get her back.

“It's going to be ok.” Jason said softly, giving her hand a squeeze.

“I sure hope so.” she said, squeezing his hand back.

Sharon's parents eventually left under the watchful eyes of the police. After a quick conversation with them, Cory and Fabian turned and returned to the front porch.

“Alright kids,” Fabian clapped his hands together, “let's head inside. We’ve got a lot to take care of before tonight. Oh, and Sharon, welcome home.”

Tears filled her eyes as she embraced Fabian in a tight hug that was quickly returned.

“Don’t you start crying, that’ll make me cry…” But of course it was already too late for Fabian.

Chapter 2

After Sharon and Fabian dried their tears, they all sat down in the kitchen once again. Sharon found herself having to fill out a stack of forms. Luckily, Jason and his parents were there to help her out as they continued to eat various hot and cold sandwiches.

“Ugg, I feel full just watching you guys eat.”

“Before a full moon our guts are just bottomless pits.” Cory chuckled as she fried up some more bacon and eggs on the stove.

“You should see us when a holiday lands on the full moon.” Jason smiled. “Ever been to a Thanksgiving dinner with two turkeys before?”

“To be fair, I did prepare them both differently.” Fabian said as he finished off a carton of milk.

“That honestly sounds kind of fun, and I’m sure they were both delicious Mr. Delmar.” Sharon smiled as she wrote her name for what felt like the hundredth time.

“If you’d like, you can just call me by my first name, dear, I think I’ve known you long enough.”

“I wouldn’t want to show you any disrespect…”

“I really don’t mind either.” Cory said as she turned off the stove. “I got to be Ms. Delmar everyday at school, and I’ve never been big on formalities.”

“It’s just I’m so used to it, it feels strange to actually call you by your names.”

“Do I still call you mom and dad?” Jason asked with a smirk.

“Yes.” Was the simultaneous reply from his parents.

That led to another round of good natured laughing. Sharon already felt more at home here than she ever had living with her parents. After the laughing had died down, Sharon looked up from her forms.

“I have a few questions I’d like to ask, if that’s ok, M…Fabian.”

He smiled as she used his first name. “Oh of course, ask away, no need for any secrets between us anymore, especially if you’re going to need to know it for yourself.”

“So, this is a little awkward but, who, ah, who is going to, you know, bite me?”

Cory and Fabian looked at each other before Fabian responded. “Well, with it being Jason’s first shift I don’t trust it to Bailey, she might go too hard and, well, cause some damage that won’t grow back.”

Sharon’s entire body tensed. “Ouch!”

“No kidding.” Cory said as she assembled another sandwich. “Bob is also not the best bet, his mouth is just too big.”

“Oh come on now, Bob has the cutest smile. But yes, we’ll leave it up to Amaka, she’ll give a gentle nip and get you on your way.”

“Where will we be doing this all tonight, in the house?”

“Good lord, with three, no four long tails, our house would be trashed.” Cory laughed. “Besides, you two will need to be in water for your first shift. We have enough experience to shift directly to our hybrid form in a dry situation, but you two won’t.”

“So I’ll turn into an actual shark-shark first?”

“Yes, but you won’t be an animal. Your other half can still communicate with other sharks, even with kids that are too young to shift.” Cory placed the egg and bacon sandwich in front of her son. “After a bit to get settled your other half will shift forms and come on land, don’t worry in that form we can breathe both air and water.”

“Won’t other people notice what’s going on with us walking around?”

“Oh dear, I guess you wouldn’t know, would you?” Fabian giggled as he shook his head slightly.

“Sharon,” Jason replied after swallowing a mouthful, “all our neighbors on this stretch of beach are weres, mostly weresharks. We’ll all be on the beach having a party tonight.”

“You won’t find a beach-front town that doesn’t have a community of aquatic weres, well, anywhere.” Fabian laughed at the unintended word play. “Our families have been living here since before the town was incorporated.” He flipped back his long hair with pride.

“Back in the old days beach fronts were less appealing,” Cory said as she sat back down with her family, “after all, most people were looking for land to farm and for those that weren’t, the harbors and bays were more useful for boats. Once things started to change a lot of families found themselves being valuable land holders. My grandfather made a killing selling off property in this town to developers in the sixties.”

“Yes and my family helped build the first boardwalk in the twenties, and again in the forties after the hurricane destroyed the first one.”

“Oh, oh wow…I guess you guys really did get in on the ground floor then.”

“Good thing we did.” Jason shook his head. “No way could we afford a place like this otherwise.”

“Ok, well, I think I’ve got the form all filled out.” She said putting the cap back on her pen.

“Fabian, you better get that scanned and emailed over to Phil before it gets any later.”

“I’m on it.” He said as he collected the stack of papers. “Oh, did you text your brother about our new guest?”

“No, I want to surprise Terrance when he and his family get here.”

“Wait, Uncle Terry is coming?”

“Of course he is, he’s your godfather after all, he wouldn’t miss it. And besides that, I mentioned it to you days ago.”

“Was he playing a game when you told him? That’s never a good idea.” Sharon smirked.

“Now that you mention it, he was.” Cory chuckled, “I guess it was my fault then.”

“Ha, ha.” Jason said, crossing his arms.

“Once Mister, I mean, Fabian submits those forms, what do we do next?”

“Well, you kids can do what you like. But before my brother gets here I’m going to take the opportunity to bang my husband while we’re still the ones in charge.”

Jason glared at her. “Mom…”

“What? We have sex like any normal couple. And maybe you two want a little alone time yourselves before you’re not yourselves''

“Mom, I appreciate how open you and dad are about sex and stuff, but being told to go have sex by my mom is a little much.”

“Fine, don’t take my advice and regret it in the morning, That’s on you two.”

Jason rolled his eyes while Sharon nervously laughed. Before long Fabian returned from the office.

“All emailed, and Phil texted me to confirm they have them and he’s going to process them right away.”

“Oh wonderful, we’ll have to do something special to thank him for it.”

“He’s getting a lovely dinner for two at The Captain’s Table, including drinks and dessert, all on the house.”

“What about his kids?” Cory asked, raising an eyebrow.

Fabian shrugged. “I’m afraid you’ll be babysitting them for the night.”

“Oh well,” she sighed, “a small price to pay to get the paperwork pushed through hours before sundown on a full moon night.”

“I can help.” Sharon said stepping forward, “With watching the kids or covering the cost of the meal. It is all for me anyway.”

“Thank you, dear, but don’t worry about it.” Cory shook her head, “It’s nothing really, just a little favor in exchange for a favor.”

“Still, at least let me help watch the kids, I’ve always wanted to babysit anyway.”

“There are four little kits in that house, you might want her help.” Fabian said with a little smirk.

“I’ll come to the restaurant and help out.” Jason spoke up, “I can bus tables and wash dishes after all, it should save you some overtime at the end of the night.”

“Oh, all right, you both can help, but it’s still not that big of a deal.” Fabian said as he took his wife by the hand.

“Now, if you’ll excuse us.” Cory said as she pulled her husband in closer, “We're going to go have a little fun while we can.”

“See you kids in a bit.” Fabian smiled widely as he was pulled along by Cory.

They heard both of them giggling as they ran up the stairs. Jason looked a little embarrassed, but Sharon just smiled.

“Hey, don’t worry about it. Honestly it’s so refreshing to be around a pair of people who love each other so much after all those years. It gives me hope, really.”

“Yeah. If I was by myself I wouldn’t think twice about it, but with you here…”

“Hey, I’m going to be living here.” she leaned in and gave him a kiss. “I’ll get used to it too, and besides, at least I know they will be ok with you and me sharing a bed.”

Jason smiled slightly. “I’m looking forward to that.”

“Speaking of which,” she wrapped her arms around his neck, “how would you like to celebrate your birthday?”

“I think I might like that,” he wrapped his arms around her waist, “let’s stay down here though, I don’t want to hear my parents in the next room.”

Sharon giggled before leaning in for a long kiss.

***

After both couples had enjoyed themselves. Jason and Sharon started to help with setting up for that night’s festivities on the beach. Sharon could see they were not the only family setting up tables and dragging grills out onto the small stretch of beach. Many of them waved and wished Jason a happy birthday.

“So they are mostly sharks, like your family?”

“Yes. but not entirely. The Robinsons, for instance, are polar bears.”

“The older couple?”

“Yes, they retired here, originally they were from Alaska. They were always a lot of fun when I was a kid. They would let us ride around on their backs, you can’t really do that with a shark.”

“Jason!” Cory called from the deck, “can you help me with the grill?”

“Coming!” He shouted back.

Jason and his mother had just finished hauling their huge grill off the deck and down to the sand when they heard a car horn beeping from around the front of the house.

“That must be your Uncle.” Cory glanced at her watch. “I was getting worried they wouldn’t get here before sunset.”

“I’ll get the door,” Fabian said as he dashed up the steps of the deck, “I can’t wait to surprise Terry and see the look on his face!”

Sharon laughed, but she was a little nervous. Jason picked up on it.

“You’ve met my uncle before.”

“I know, but it’s different this time.”

“That’s true.” he took her by the hand. “Ready to go in?”

“Yeah, let’s do that before your dad pulls him outside.”

***

“How are you feeling?” Jason asked as Sharon put on a white terrycloth robe.

“Nervous as hell, how about you?”

“A little strange, like I can feel something tingling just under my skin.” He was dressed in a similar robe.

“Come on kids!” Fabian called up from the bottom of the stairs.

Sharon took a deep breath. “Let's go.”

Jason nodded and they left his bedroom. His parents were waiting by the doors to the deck. Along with his Uncle Terry and young cousins. The adults had just opted for towels instead of robes, while the kids, Andrew and Laura, were in their bathing suits.

"Are you excited?" Laura asked her cousin.

Jason scratched the back of his head. "I don't know exactly what I'm feeling, actually."

"What kind of a shark do you think your other half will be?" Laura asked Sharon. "I hope mine will be a big great white like Aunt Cory."

"I don’t know, but now you've got me thinking about it." Sharon smiled.

"Alright kids, we need to get out on the water." Terry said as he ushered his children out the back door.

"Yeah…I'm feeling tingly." Jason said as he scratched his arm.

"Then you better hurry." His mother said as she pushed both of them out onto the deck.

Sharon looked around the beach at sunset. She blushed a bit when she saw people taking off towels and slipping off robes as they headed down to the water. Jason put a hand on her shoulder and gave her a squeeze.

"You get over modesty eventually." He smiled slightly.

"It's a bit harder for humans." She smiled back, but I guess I'll just have to deal with it."

Closer to the water Jason slipped out of his robe and placed it on a beach chair. Sharon couldn't help but admire his body in the last light of the setting sun. His lean but strong swimmer’s build was something she greatly enjoyed. She wondered how much of that would be there once things started. After seeing Cory, Fabian, and Terry lose their towels, Sharon decided she might as well bear it all herself.

Jason took her by the hand and they started to walk into the water. It wasn't summer yet, so the water was still chilly.

"I won't get hypothermia before I become a shark, will I?" She asked as she wrapped her arms around her body.

"I don't think you will be kept waiting to…" Jason trailed off then something seemed to come over him. Nothing physically changed about his body but just the way he stood in the water something was different. "Ahhh, first night out. He turned to face Sharon with a rather roguish smile. "Nice to finally meet you, Sharon."

The tone and timber of his voice had changed completely along with his mannerisms. Sharon quickly guessed what was happening.

"Bailey?"

"Yep, it's me." She suddenly bent over with pain. "Oh hell, it does hurt the first time!"

As Sharon watched Bailey's back started to sprout patches of sharkskin.

"I better get deeper…" Bailey managed a few more steps before she fell forward into the ocean. "Oops…looks like my legs are going."

Sharon looked down and saw that Bailey’s legs were starting to fuse together. The wereshark then let out a loud gasp as a series of gill slits opened on her neck. Bailey quickly submerged herself fully into the water. Even though the water wasn’t that deep, Sharon had difficulty keeping tabs on Bailey with just the moonlight overhead and the lights coming from the beach houses. As she tried her best, a pair of sharks slowly popped out from the water a bit further out.

Even knowing what was happening, Sharon was still a little surprised as the pair of humanoid sharks broke the surface and wadded back to her. One was big, quite large in fact. With the head resembling a great white shark. His body was strongly built to match, even with the sharkskin smoothing out his body. His skin was white along his front, but gray from the top of his head and down his back from what Sharon could see. The other one was decidedly female, going by her generous chest and wide hips. Being a nurse shark in nature, a pair of small tendrils hung down over her smiling mouth. Her skin was brownish in color, making her stand out even more next to her partner.

“Oh no, I think you scared her, Bob.” the nurse shark said with a rather girlish giggle.

“You wanted me to do the whole dorsal fin thing with her.” The great white gave a sharp toothed smirk to her mate.

“Amaka and Bob, I presume?” Sharon said as she regained her wits.

They walked over to her both smiling.

“Yes, and it’s wonderful to finally meet you in person!” Amaka gave her a big hug.

Even with her smaller stature, her strength was obvious from the wet hug.

“It’s nice to meet you too.” Bob opted for a handshake. “We’re really happy to bring you into the family. Our little pup is lucky to have someone like you.”

“Speaking of which, are you ready to go for a real swim with her?” The nurse shark was practically beaming.

“As ready as I’m going to be.” Sharon sighed and held out her hand Amaka. “It won’t hurt too much, will it?”

“Honestly, your first change will be worse.” Bob said with a sigh, “but by the next moon it will be painless.”

“Yeah, I saw that with Jason, I mean Bailey.”

“Trust me, they both are feeling it.” Bob said, glancing down towards the water.

“Oh hey, what’s that?” Amaka pointed back to the shore.

When Sharon looked back to the beach, Amaka quickly nipped her index finger. Sharon yelped and snatched her hand back.

“Sorry hun, it’s easier if you don’t see it coming, as my grandma used to say.”

Sharon narrowed her eyes slightly, then looked down at the finger she was cradling. A few drops of blood ran down her finger, but as she watched the wound closed shut, not even leaving a bruise. She stared at her healed finger then she felt a sudden pain in her gut, enough to make her double over.

“Oh god! That is worse!” she moaned. She felt a tingling across her body. She took a step before falling forward. She rolled over in the cool water and saw her legs were starting to merge together. “Oh, wow that is so strange…” She moaned.

“Sharon?” Bob asked, a little confused, "Is that still you?”

“Of course it’s me!” she snapped before remembering the other half part of being a werecreature. “Wait where is…”

Suddenly she couldn’t breathe. There were sharp lines of pain along her neck as her gill slits opened up. Sharon flailed around gasping, getting more panicked.

“Worry about it later!” Bob shouted before pushing her down completely into the water.

There was instant relief as water flooded across her gills. Without even thinking Sharon pulled water into her mouth and the panic started to subside.

Oh my god! I’m breathing water! She thought as the changes to her body continued.

Sharon’s legs continued to knit together, slowly becoming a single appendage. Her feet seemed to melt and reform into a wide tail. Meanwhile Sharon’s arms started to shrink back into her body. Her hands became webbed at first, before reshaping into fins. Sharon thrashed in the water as she felt the dermal denticles of her sharkskin growing out like teeth to cover her elongating body. Sharon’s head was nothing but pain as her neck ballooned out and her jaw shifted shape. She could feel her human teeth being pushed out by sharp shark’s teeth that took their place. On instinct alone, Sharon started to swim with her powerful tail. Her eyes grew accustomed to the water, the blurriness and darkness fading away. She could see in the dim light of the moonlight ocean now. The pain finally started to subside. She couldn’t see herself but Sharon was now a Mako shark, with brilliant metallic blue sharkskin along her back and white along her underside.

“Hey cutie.” She heard a voice. It sounded almost like Jason’s but had a decidedly feminine pitch and sound to it.

“Bailey?” she called out.

A bluish green tiger shark with darker spots forming roughly into stripes swam into her vision before bumping gently against her. “That’s me. And who are you?”

“Um…it’s still just Sharon.” she replied, a little confused. “And how are we even talking underwater?”

“What? Really? No, that can’t be true, where is your other half?”

“I don’t know…It’s just me in here, as far as I can tell.”

“Mom! Dad!” Bailey called out.

They were quickly joined by Bob and Amaka.

“Calm down, everyone.” Bob’s voice was firm and strong.

“Seriously, how are we talking underwater?” Sharon was swimming in circles at this point.

“We’re not truly talking, more so projecting your thoughts.” Bob said, trying his best to calm down the new shark. “We just do it without thinking while we are in full shark form or underwater. We can’t read your mind or anything like that, we just hear what you want us to hear.”

“I can’t believe it.” Amaka was almost giddy. “A unicorn!”

“You need to calm down too, dear.” Bob glanced over to his mate.

“Unicorn? Do I have a horn?” Sharon shook her head back and forth.

“Not a literal Unicorn, those are just a myth.” Amaka said as she reached out and gently touched her head. “It’s a colloquialism.”

“Rarely, very rarely, a werecreature lacks an other half.” Bob continued. “It looks like that is what happened to you, Sharon.”

“So wait, does that mean I’ll have to share Sharon with Jason? Oh, he is not going to like that.” Bailey chuckled.

“Excuse you, who says I’ll be up for that anyway?” Sharon snapped back.

“Pups, please, we will work this all out.” Amaka swam between them both. “What is important is that Sharon is one of us now. Let’s get you both up on two feet and then we can discuss this before heading to the party.”

“Ok mom.” Bailey said softly.

“Wait, isn’t Bob your mom?”

Amaka giggled loudly. “Oh, Fabian and Cory never told you…”

“Told me what exactly?”

“I am Jason’s mother as much as Bailey's. Bob knocked me up.”

“What? How did that work?”

“I was under the impression you were sexualy active.” Amaka giggled.

Bob stepped in to explain. “Amaka wanted to have our child, so that is what we ended up doing. While she was pregnant she remained in charge, and in her sharkskin for the entire time.”

“I believe the excuse we gave the outside world was that Fabian was away in France taking a culinary course. After I gave birth, I shifted back. Werehorses do it all the time. To make things easy with the outside world Fabian went as ‘dad’ and Cory as ‘mom’.”

Sharon rolled this new piece of information around in her head. “What if Cory had been pregnant though?”

“Then I wouldn’t have shifted during the moon.” Bob said with a shrug. “Our bodies will do what they need to to carry a child to term. That’s true for any of us, not just sharks.”

“I’m going to yell at your other halves for not filling me in later. For now, how do I change to be like you are?”

“Oh, that will be easy, and don’t worry, it won’t hurt. Just take a nice big gulp of water and then focus on the shape you want to take. You too Bailey.”

Sharon thought that sounded too easy, but she did as they said. At first nothing happened then she felt something inside her body. It didn't hurt like the initial change, but it did feel a little strange. Sharon's fins started to elongate then push out from her body. They slowly started to resemble arms again, only covered in sharkskin. She flexed her hands once she had them again. Looking over at Bailey Sharon saw a different change happening.

Near the base of her tail a pair of buds started to form. Slowly they elongated and started to take shape. They started as small almost baby legs but they quickly grew into long shapely legs. Sharon felt her own legs starting to push out as well.

Once the arms and legs had formed the shark bodies started to change taking on a more humanoid appearance. Both of them sported wide hips and Sharon was slightly put off by the fact Bailey's chest was significantly larger than her own. Now that she had a neck once more, even if it still had gills she stretched it out.

"You both look lovely, girls." Amaka smiled widely. "Let's head up and you can try breathing air again."

After relying on her gills, it felt almost strange to take a breath again after breaking the surface. They had floated out pretty deep, but with her powerful tail to propel her through the water it took her no time to get back closer to shore. It honestly felt fun to her. Looking over, Bailey was enjoying it as well.

By now, many sharks were walking out of the waves. Sharon gasped a little when she saw a hammerhead shark holding hands with Jason's cousins but quickly realized that he must be Uncle Terry's other half.

The kids ran out into the shallows to meet them.

"Hey kiddos!" Bailey smiled a wide toothy grin as she bent down to give them both hugs. "It's nice to meet you both in person."

"You got stripes, that's so cool." Andrew was excited. “I hope I get to be a tiger shark too."

"You'll just have to wait and see." The hammerhead chuckled then turned to Sharon. "I'm Chad, by the way."

"Nice to meet you, but I think you already know me, it's still just Sharon."

Chad blinked, which looked odd given the shape of his head then turned to Bob "Bro, what's going on?"

"It looks like we have a Unicorn on our hands." Bob replied.

"Unicorn? Where?" Laura looked around.

"No honey, it's a figure of speech." Amaka said gently. "It's very rare, but Sharon doesn't have an other half."

"Will she be ok, Auntie Amaka?"

"I'm fine, I'm just getting used to being a shark." Sharon hoped that she sounded convincing.

Chad shook his head, which appeared more exaggerated with his unique head. "I hope this doesn't overshadow Bailey's birthday."

"It's ok Uncle Chad, I was already sharing tonight with her."

"Well, regardless, you two must be starving." Amaka smiled, "let's get the grill fired up."

"Now that you mention it…" Sharon placed her hand over her stomach.

"Come on, let's grab a few steaks." Bailey took her by the hand.

"The marinated ones are for the grill!" Bob shouted after them.

"Wait, what?" Sharon called back over her shoulder.

Bailey flipped open the top of a cooler and pulled out a steak. She tore a bite right out of it and quickly swallowed I'd down.

Sharon recoiled slightly. "You're kidding me…"

"What part of were-shark was unclear?" She asked before taking another bite. "It's completely normal for us to eat meat or fish raw. Here, take a sniff." Bailey pulled another steak out of the cooler and held it in front of Sharon’s face.

Sharon tried to push the raw meat away, but when the scent of it hit her she felt her hunger rise up. Without thinking, she snatched the steak out of Bailey's hand and ripped out a bite with her sharp teeth.

"There we go."

Sharon tore through her steak, but glared at Bailey as she did so.

"Want another?"

Sharon sighed, "I think that would have been easier if I had an other half."

"Probably. They could handle your new…equipment easier too."

Sharon glanced behind her at her long tail. "I haven't smacked anything with my tail yet."

"Good job with that, but I was referring to what's between your legs."

"Huh?"

"Remember when my dad, well, Cory said we come in male, female, and everything in between? Well, you’re packing both sets down there."

"What? No…I don't see…" she looked down.

"Do you see my dad's or Uncle Chad's dicks hanging out? Or mine for that matter? We keep it tucked in when not using it."

"You have a penis?" She whispered.

"Yeah, I do. Don't stare or anything, but if you look mom and dad both have slits, but they are shaped differently. One is for a pussy, the other for a cock. You've got the third kind which means both. As for me, I just have a cock, despite my girlish looks."

"This could have been explained better to me while I was filling out all those forms."

"You yell at Jason for that tomorrow morning, because I would have given you the complete sex-ed talk."

"I guess I can't hold you responsible." She sighed. "Give me another steak, please."

Bailey smiled as she picked up another steak from the cooler.

"So, is there anything else I should know?" Sharon asked before tearing off a hunk of the steak.

"Don't flip out if you lose a tooth or two tonight, it's normal and it won't hurt your human smile any. Oh, and when the kids go to bed the beach is going to pretty much be a giant orgy."

"Funny."

"I'm not joking. We're all like that, not just sharks. We like to cut loose and enjoy our once a month outing."

Sharon was quiet, just staring at Bailey for a moment. "You were all expecting my other half to just be on board for all of that."

"I was, yes. I was planning to have fun with your other half tonight."

"What if I was a guy?"

"As if that would have turned me off. Trust me, sharks might swim in a straight line, but that's where it ends."

"Ok, given how mixed up everything can be I can see how that might just work out. But what about the couples?"

"Like us?"

"I suppose I'm stuck with you, so yes."

"Of course we will spend some time together. And I really want that, after all in my opinion Shark-Sharon is hotter than regular Human-Sharon, no offense."

"Oh please." She rolled her eyes.

"But that doesn't mean we can't still play around with some of the other sharks. Jason knows full well what goes on."

"Oh yeah? And what if I get pregnant?"

"Only if you throw yourself into it will that happen, at least in your sharkskin."

"I can do that?"

"Yeah, it's handy when you actually want to get pregnant, especially with a situation like my mom."

"Ok, I guess that's good. What about when I'm, um, in my, ah, other skin?"

"Then it's the same monthly song and dance, so you and Jason should keep playing it safe until you're ready for pups."

"What's this talk about pups?" Bob said from behind them.

"Just filling Sharon in on the facts of life, dad."

"You both better be through college with jobs first." Bob said as he pulled out a steak and tossed the entire thing in his mouth. "And Cory is in complete agreement with me on that."

"Grab me a snack hun, I need to get the grill fired up." Amaka said as she opened up the grill. "The pups will need to eat soon if they're going to go to bed on time."

"Amaka is the cook too?" Sharon asked as she moved away from the cooler towards the grill.

"Well, I took all the same classes Fabian did, but don’t discount Bob, he grills a great burger."

"Thanks babe." Bob smiled and handed her partner a thick steak.

"Why don’t you introduce Sharon to the neighbors, dear?" Amaka said after devouring her steak. "Especially before the big-girl party starts."

"Ok mom," Bailey gave her mother a small kiss on the cheek, "just save us one of the hot steaks."

Sharon followed Bailey to meet the neighbors. They were all excited to meet the "unicorn". Bailey didn't seem the least bit upset by this, instead she seemed proud of Sharon. They both received some invitations to swing back around after the kids went to bed. At first Sharon was a little embarrassed by it, but after a while she started to get a little curious about it.

"Bailey, Jason can hear me, right?"

"Everything I see, hear or, ahem, experience he is fully aware of. The rest of the month it's the same way with me."

"So, you were there when we…"

"Of course." Bailey smiled widely. "By the way, the birthday sex was amazing."

"Thanks." She rolled her eyes but chuckled softly. "I just want to know that Jason is ok with all of this. The situation is different than we planned."

"Hmm, I can't argue that. Alright, I'll ask him. There's a mirror over there."

They walked to a large mirror that had been set up specifically to chat with other halves.

"Hey stud, happy birthday."

"Happy birthday to you too."

"So, quite a surprise we got, huh?"

"Yeah…" Jason scratched the back of his head. "Do you promise to tell Sharon exactly what I say?"

"Look, I'm many things, but not untrustworthy."

Sharon watched what was to her a one-sided conversation. For her part, she was taking in her body. She had to admit there was a certain appeal to her sleek strong body. And although she had never thought of herself as anything other than straight, she was feeling something for Bailey after spending time with her.

"Ok," Bailey said, turning from the mirror to Sharon. "So, this is right from Jason's mouth. He says as long as you feel comfortable, go have a good time, because he knows I will be."

"And if you're having fun, he is?"

"Oh yeah! On my end, if it bothers you, I'll just play with you all night."

"Hey," Sharon smiled slightly, "I'm not about to ruin your birthday."

Bailey smiled and pulled her into a hug. "You are a great girl. I'm happy you and Jason hooked up."

She returned the hug. "I'm not sure what I want to do, but I do want to try stuff with you at least."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Actually, I've been thinking about it while you were chatting with Jason."

"So, you were checking me out then?"

"Don't ruin the moment." She gently bopped Bailey on the snout.

Bailey chuckled. “Lucky for you, hitting a shark’s nose is more of a myth.” She leaned in and kissed Sharon softly on her snout.

Some time after dinner and some time swimming, and playing with the Robinsons in their polar bear forms, it was time for Andrew and Laura to go to bed. Sharon and Bailey were helping the kids to dry off.

“But Dad…” Andrew complained.

“No buts you two, all the other pups are heading inside too, and you both need to shower before bed after swimming.” Chad said gently but firmly. “These are the rules and you know it. Now Andrew, I’m trusting you to make sure your sister gets a shower too and you both get in bed. And If I see that curtain up in your room so much as twitch, you two can forget about any internet for a week. Now, say goodnight to everyone.”

"Ok…" Andrew sighed. "Good night Uncle Bob, Auntie Amaka."

Laura ran up to hug her aunt and uncle, then back to give Bailey a big hug.

"Good night, Laura." Bailey smiled as she returned the hug. "Don't worry, we'll come up to your place for a full moon sometime."

Laura then gave Sharon a big hug. “I guess I will see you in the morning.” Laura said with a giggle.

Sharon chuckled as she returned the hug. “I guess so, you have a good night, ok?”

Andrew took his sister by the hand and led her back into the house. Chad watched from the sliding door until he was sure they were upstairs.

“Are my pups the last ones?” He asked, turning to look down at the beach.

“Not quite, the Selachians are still talking to their girls on the deck.” Bob said pointing to their neighbors two doors down.

“As long as it’s not my pups holding things up.”

“Jason was the same way, all the pups want to spend time with us while the moon is out.” Amaka shrugged. “Oh look, the Selachian girls just went in, I think that’s everyone.”

“Mmmm, good…” Bob grabbed his partner by the hips and pulled Amaka tight against his body. “Go ahead and have some fun girls, just don’t knock anyone up, or I’ll bite it off.”

“Here I thought my mom was harsh about it.” Sharon sighed, but smiled.

“Come on,” Bailey took her by the hand and pulled her down the steps towards the beach.

“Hey, no need to rush.” she laughed as she followed along.

“I’ve just got tonight, so I am in a bit of a hurry.”

“Where are you going?”

“I want to make our first time special,” their feet splashed into the water, “So why not under water.”

“I, Ah…”

“Come on, you can’t drown when you can breathe water. Besides, it’s something you and Jason can’t do the rest of the month. Looking back at the beach it’s more private this way, even with other couples in the water. Unless you want to put on a show for our first time.”

Sharon looked back and if she could show a blush, her cheeks would be bright red. There were plenty of lewd acts going on blatantly on the beach. She decided that Bailey was right. Sharon ran forward and dove into the water and the other shark followed. They swam a bit out, giving them plenty of room to float below the surface.

Bailey started things off, wrapping her arms around Sharon and kissing her softly. The kiss slowly deepened and while being mindful of each other's teeth, their tongues danced as they floated below the surface. As they made out, Sharon felt something strange happening in between her legs. She could feel something growing, pushing out slowly from the tightly sealed slit. And she could tell the same thing was happening to Bailey. Sharon broke the kiss and looked down. She would have gasped if they were still above water. She didn’t have just a single cock growing out from her body, but a pair of them. Bailey smirked as she reached out to grab and stroke them both, as her own dual cocks continued to slip out.

“Oh god…” her body went rigid in the water as the new sensation hit her brain.

“Yeah, double the pleasure, double the fun!” Bailey giggled as she pulled in close.

She kissed and nuzzled Sharon’s neck while stroking hard and fast. It didn’t take long before both of her shafts were firing her seed off into the ocean. She ‘fell back’ in the water, pulling Bailey along with her. Sharon tried to catch her breath, in a manner of speaking after that experience.

“Yeah, now you know how it feels when you get Jason off. Puts it in perspective, doesn’t it?”

“Mmm, yeah, kinda…” Sharon admitted as she felt Bailey nuzzling her neck and chest. “God…I wasn’t ready for that…not that I’m complaining…”

“You are going to have so much fun tonight…but first…” Her hand slipped back down between Sharon’s legs.

Sharon’s cocks had already slipped back in, but Bailey wasn’t interested in them right now, her hand went lower, rubbing the slit gently before starting to slip a finger in. Although the sensation was more familiar to Sharon, it was still different in this form. She spread her legs to make things easier for her partner. Even with her legs spread wide, she still hugged Bailey's finger tightly as she probed and explored her sex.

“You are going to feel so good…I’ve been waiting so long to be the one doing the plowing…” Bailey’s cocks were almost aching with need as she shifted into position.

Sharon wanted it too. She just hoped Jason really understood her situation, and would enjoy this as much as Bailey was. As she felt both cocks pressing into her body, Sharon cried out and wrapped her legs around her partner's waist. She pulled Bailey in deeper, until the tiger shark bottomed out.

“Fuck, that feels so good!” Bailey moaned as she started to move.

They held each other tightly as they floated, their motions making their bodies rotate in the water. Having not completely calmed down from her first orgasm, Sharon felt herself being pushed higher and further by Bailey, not to mention the feeling of those dual cocks filling her fully. She dug her nails deep into her partner’s back and squeezed her tightly with her legs. She was coming, and coming hard.

Bailey was being squeezed so tight it almost hurt. Still, she managed to move slamming her hips in one final time as she erupted, crying out as she emptied her load into Sharon. She didn’t have to wait long before Sharon’s dam broke and her spasms milked every last drop of seed out of Bailey's cocks.

They stayed entwined, neither one making a move to untangle themselves. They slowly recovered, just floating beneath the water, the moonlight dimly shining through the water around them. Bailey stirred first, gently brushing Sharon’s cheek.

“Mmmm…Nice to finally have proper sex with you.”

“Oh please, just because we’re under water?”

“You can’t blame me for having a bit of preference for Shark-Sharon, can you?”

“I suppose not…though I don’t think Human-Sharon could have handled you anyway.”

“That’s alright, she’ll have Jason to take care of her. See? It’s all about teamwork.”

Sharon chuckled as they slowly disengaged. “Let’s head back before we drift out any deeper.”

“Oh, looking forward to some fun on the sand?”

“Maybe, but first I think I need another steak.” Sharon smirked before she started to swim for the shore.

“Hey! Wait up!” Bailey called out as she took off after her.

Sunlight along with an ocean breeze streamed through the open window of Jason’s room. The couple was sleeping, curled up next to each other. A sheet was covering most of their bodies as they slept, but it was obvious neither had managed to dress themselves after the beach party. Slowly the door to the room opened and Fabian poked his head in, a mischievous smile on his face.

“Hey kids, wake up! It’s time for breakfast!” He shouted loudly.

Jason growled and covered his head with a pillow. “Dad!”

Sharon started to sit up, when her head suddenly started to throb. She fell back down on the bed, holding her forehead and groaning softly.

“Fabian!” They heard Cory yell as she joined her husband in the doorway. “You know damn well they will both have a shifting hangover from last night.”

“I let them sleep till noon, and they will need to eat after last night.”

Cory sighed, “You two can go back to sleep if you want.”

“Ugg, I can’t my head…” Jason groaned from under his pillow.

Cory came in and sat on the corner of the bed. “I know this is rough, the day after your first shift hits you like a freight train. But it gets easier with every shift. By the third moon, you just wake up hungry.”

“I’m both starving and I don’t want to get out of bed…” Sharon groaned.

“Fabian, get them some water and something for their headaches.” She turned back to the young ones. “A nice hot shower will probably help as well. Terrance and the kids already left, so you don’t have to worry about them seeing you like this, or worry about covering up on the way down the hall.”

“Oh, oh yeah…I’m naked under here, aren’t I?” Sharon blushed and pulled more of her body under the sheet. “I don’t even remember coming upstairs last night.”

“You almost didn’t. Fabian and I helped you up here so you didn’t end up in a naked pile in the living room as your shifts were ending. Also, don’t be embarrassed about sleeping in the nude. It is actually quite healthy, even for a human. I’ve been sleeping in the buff ever since my first shift.”

“I insisted on wearing shorts until I met Cory.” Fabian said as he returned to the room with the medicine. “I was just afraid of some emergency happening in the middle of the night. She broke me out of the habit after we started dating.”

“Mmm, my head hurts too much to argue right now.” Jason grumbled before slowly sitting up.

“I’m glad it’s a Sunday.” Sharon said as she followed suit, not even bothering to cover her chest as she did so.

“I would have called you both in sick anyway.” Fabian said as he passed the medicine to his son. “We’ll get a nice big post moon brunch ready for you both while you enjoy a shower.”

Sharon opened one of her eyes. “Shower, as in, we take one together?”

“Dear, we are quite open about these things. You are both adults, as of yesterday anyway, and have been responsible in your relationship. Which you will both continue, yes?” her eyes bore into the two of them.

Jason and Sharon glanced at each other and nodded.

“Good. Enjoy a nice long shower, and then come down to eat and relax.” She gave each of them a hug before climbing off the bed.

Fabian closed the door gently, leaving them alone in the room.

Sharon’s head was still pounding, but she had to ask Jason something. “Hey, about last night…you’re not mad at me, are you?”

Jason slowly shook his head. “I mean, I didn’t expect it to still be you out on the beach, but it wouldn’t be fair to you or to Bailey.”

“But what about you?”

“I was still there, enjoying all the fun right along with Bailey. I’m not jealous, well, I’m slightly jealous you get to be in charge of both your forms, but not you playing around. I was raised into this life, so maybe that’s helping me to accept all of this.”

“Maybe.” Sharon swung her legs over the side of the bed and paused for a moment. “I think the real reason your mom told us to take a shower together was so we could hold each other up.”

“I wouldn’t doubt it. Mmm, my butt is a little sore. He said reaching behind himself to rub it.

“Sorry about that.” she said with a slight blush.

Jason turned and smiled over his shoulder at Sharon. “You didn’t sound sorry last night.”

She promptly threw a pillow in his face. Jason laughed and then reached out and pulled her into a hug.

“Thanks for making my birthday special.”

“Thanks for giving me a real home.” she leaned in and kissed him gently.
