A split mind. with one part holding the personality and primary intelligence like anyone else. while the other part can be modified like a computer. able to install whatever skills are needed. which then become part of the tools mind.

Multiples are a manifestation of a type of schizophrenia - a word which, literally, means 'split mind' - but the split is not necessarily into different personalities. it refers more to a split between the mind and reality.
